The John Rutledge House Inn has gone to great lengths to preserve the inn’s original architectural character. The restoration has brought to life the eighteenth century architecture, such as the Italian marble fireplaces, plaster moldings, and the old ironwork. This Southern home is truly a part of history, and the innkeepers try to exude the hospitality that is famous in Charleston. John Rutledge, a signer of the US Constitution, constructed the home in 1763.

What are your breakfast options?: Breakfast is included in our room rate. It is delivered to your room, the ballroom or courtyard. Breakfast is served from 7:00am - 10:00am. We offer scrambled eggs with apple, wood-smoked bacon, and a 2nd cooked option daily. We also have a selection of breads, cereals, fruit, yogurt, etc. While we do have afternoon refreshments for guests, we do not offer lunch or dinner. We have many reasonable priced options within walking distance of the inn.
What transport is available to get around?: The inn does not provide any transportation services. To/from the airport, there are taxi and shuttle services. In the downtown area, there is a complimentary trolley service. You may visit a plantation via a tour company or rent a car; there are several rental companies with offices nearby.
What can I do nearby?: We have many historic homes within walking distance. The departure point for the boat to Ft. Sumter is a 5 - 10 minute taxi ride. There are several plantations within a 30 minute ride also.
Do you have internet?: We provide complimentary wireless service for our guests for the length of their stay.
Do you provide parking?: Parking is adjacent to our property at a cost of $12 per night.
