Hotel has a most unimpressive exterior, especially compared to others. However, on entering, it is a completely different experience, expensive marble, woods, etc, most impressive. rooms are equally impresssive, good size, with an excellent copemporary and luxurious appearance. The only criticism, from a North American viewpoint is the beds which tend to be a touch harder than we are used to. Service was prompt and attentive, it is almost impossible to open a door yourself. Also, hotel staff reasonabley fluent in english. The location is somewhat remote from the main attractions of downtown Macau, but, once you have mastered the terrain, easily accessable with an easy and interesting 5 - 10 minute walk. Also, taxies were plentiful in the hotel area and cheap at a starting rate of 11MOP, but, drivers less fluent. If leaving the hotel, have the staff write your destination for you, or tell the driver. Costs within Macau were quite cheap, but, costs to Tiapa tend to be high.

This is my third time at this hotel and would keep on returning. Even got a free upgrade to premier room during my second stay. Rooms are excellent and so are the staff and facilities.

Very nice hotel. We stayed in the premier room the room was very clean with a huge soft bed. The staff were courteous and very polite. Will be definitely be coming back soon.

The hotel is nice ...rooms excellent. The breakfast you can for sure live without. Dull, and a bad service.

A considerably convenient hotel, within walking distance of shops and other tourist sights.

Nice rooms, friendly service, but a bit of a walk to the center

Stayed for one night on the way through to Hong Kong, it is closer to ferry than most, but further away from the casinos, if that is what you are in to. Room was large and clean, service was excellent with staff having a good command of english language. Would recommend to those looking to stay on a budget or not big on casino'ing. Note- taxi drivers didnt know where it was, even with a print out of the address?

Its a nice hotel, great valued for money which included breakfast in the morning. But I was little bit disappointed that the hotel pool was closed due to renovation, otherwise I'm happy with my stay in Royal Hotel, overall I'd give it 8/10.

I found the staff at Royal Hotel to be friendly and helpful. We were traveling with a baby and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. The rooms were clean and spacious and the location of the hotel was perfect for sight seeing and walking around the old town. I would recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to Macau who wish to stay in a quiet part of the city away from the casinos, esp. if traveling with children.

Very good hotel. It is a few minutes to walk to the casinos but those who don't mind can have a short walk back to the hotel or take one of the many taxis.

Superb hotel. Service was very helpful, friendly and WELCOMING, which is pretty rare in China. Staff spoke excellent English and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms (I was upgraded to Premier room) are spacious, nicely decorated and well appointed - large tv, dvd player, coffee/tea facilities, minibar. I had a nice view of the city and the Vasco da Gama garden. Good location - away from the noise and bustle of the casino district, but close enough to walk to major attractions. Flora garden and Guia hill just next down the road. 7-11 and restaurants nearby. Only small dissatisfaction was that the shuttle bus at the ferry was too hard to find - i took a taxi because i couldn't find it (less than 25 patacas).

The hotel is generous to provide free internet access in the room. The deluxe room comes with big LCD TV screens and comfortable bed. If you are the type that like to enjoy a big room with comfortable bed and loves watching TV, this is great choice.

The hotel is definitely not of 5 star standard. However, the staff, mainly from the Phillipines, were courteous and helpful. Room is disppointingly small for Macau standard, breakfast was mediocre, and overall facilities limited and dissapointing. Location of the hotel was pretty great, though, walking distance to Senado Square, with fascinating little shops along the way there. A 7 eleven is also around the corner. Good place to stay for young couples, but not recommeded for families with small children and the elderly.

Our stay with the hotel was awesome. No qualms about it except for 1 female receptionist. She was not as pleasant as the others. We would also like to commend the Filipino staff who are extremely helpful to us.

We were very fortunate to be offered an upgrade to a 'premier' room on our stay at the Royal. The hotel is really lovely, and the room was beautifully appointed with everything you could ask for - including a DVD player! The breakfast buffet was one of the best we have had in any hotel. We often used the heated indoor pool and sauna, and these ammenities were always clean. The hotel staff were extrememly helpful, and also spoke good english. The location was also handy, about a 15 minute walk into the main city and all the local tourist spots. If I returned to Macau I would not hesitate staying there again, as it was good value for money - in what I consider a very overpriced city.

Courteous and quick service for check in and check out. Friendly bell boys and door men to help senior citizens. Just wish it is amongst the middle of commercial area...though not far!
