The hotel was cheap and not so chearful, it needs a good refurbish, My room was adequate

Stayed in room 724 and the toilet was not secured to the floor and the cistern overflow was running constantly into the bath. For a hotel so close to the Airport it should have wireless internet available in this current age given the types of people staying in the hotel.

A good modern room in a hotel with good facilities. Parts of the hotel need updating but at the price this was a good stay.

Handy but stressfulI arrived at 23:00 and had to catch a plane at 6:55 the next day. I paid for the shuttle at 5:45 and was down for it in plenty of time. Getting on the bus, the driver asked who I was and said that I had no right to be on the bus as there were going to be too many people at the country house hotel. His attitude was appalling. After some argument, he let me stay on and we headed to the airport. First stop was terminal 3 - my terminal. Much to my disbelief, when I got up, he wouldn't let me get off, telling me I wasn't supposed to be on the bus anyway!!! I had to have a stand-up argument to get off and this is not like me at all. Very stressful indeed.

Nowhere near as bad as others might have you believe. Apart from a delay at check-in ("you can't check in until 1pm"), we had a great stay. Accommodation was standard Posthouse-style: clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. Decor and carpets were both a bit tired in the public areas of the hotel, but this isn't a major factor for us. Breakfast was average, nothing special, but all in all we thought the hotel represented excellent value-for-money and I'd recommend it as a decent enough budget hotel.

Airport ShuttleThe hotel was good value for money, but the advertised airport shuttle service takes 45minutes, even though the airport is so close. It makes more sense to take a taxi, which is a little more expensive.

We only stayed for one night prior to an early morning flight, so didn't really get the oppotunity to take advantage of any of the facilities except those in our room, which were more than adequate. I would certainly stay again and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

Needs modernising and a makeoverI suppose you get what you pay for but this was ridiculous. Torn, worn carpets on landing leading to room, heavy black mould in bathroom, badly marked wardrobe. Pool table, internet, gaming machines all broken. Only one lift working. A swearing bar tender who hates making tea and por quality meals. Eat out if staying there. Close to Airport is only positive.

It's so not worth it...For a while now I've booked the cheaper hotels around manchester Airport to find out how much worse thet are than the once charging 60-80GBP a night. The Britannia was by far the worst. The people were really friendly and helpful but the whole place is dirty and you get the itch the whole time you spent in these god forsaken walls.Do yourself a favour and go to the premier-inn (at the airport). you pay 12GBP more but it's more than worth it. Pymsgate lodge is another great, cosy place were you can stay for less than 40GBP.I'd prefer a sleeping bag at the airport over another night at the Brittania

what a disappointmentalthough our room was very clean and well furnished i was disappointed about the welcome from the one receptionist who was obviously tired and harrassed. the lift did not feel reliable, creaking and stopping and starting. the general lobby and lift area were in poor decorative repair.

The reception and ground floor bar areas are clean. When you go upsrairs the corridoors and rooms stink. Our bedroom was so filthy that to consider a shower or walk barefoot was out of the question.Thank GOD we were only there for one night. At Breakfst every single item of food was cold and so were the heating plates. This place has to be the Ryanair of hotels....advice,,Pay a couple of pounds more and stay elsewhere.

Good value for moneyHaving stayed here before and not being impressed with the accommodation quality, I selected this because it was a cheap overnight option for a last minute trip. I was, however, extremely pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room, including the comfort of the furnishings. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were good. Although the food was not great, it would be fine if you just wanted a basic "pub style" meal without needing to go out.

OKSmallish room, but clean and quiet. We checked out 30 minutes late and they didn't bat an eyelid. Buses took a long time to get to central Manchester. Poor TV selection, with only Manchester TV and BBC news added to the normal 5.

Cheap but not cheerfulExcellent value for money £39. Tired hotel tatty and but at £39 what do you expect. Room service dirty plates left in the corridor outside a bedroom and when you return 2 hours later they are still there. Breakfast continental cheap at £4.99 but awful, cereal choice limited, bread semi stale couldn't make your own tea.

Britiannia Airport Hotel, South Manchester (Palatine Road)I stayed at the hotel from 9th May until 12th May 2009. I was disappointed. The staff were lovely and helpful and the room clean. The problem was that I was on the first floor and that was where the function room was, my room was by the public toilets too. It was noisy and on one of the nights, there was a group of teenagers running along the corridor knocking on the doors and running away. I rang down and they said they would look into it. There was no hot water for the bath either, apparently that was how it was on the corridor and not much that could be done about it.

Run down hotel with disintersted staffHotel is very tired need of refurbishment, the food was awful. Chicken burger served in a still frozen bun. Reception staff rude and disinterested. All told a poorly run hotel. Avoid this one.
