Situated 40 kilometres south-west of central Osaka on an artificial island, travellers landing at Kansai International Airport were greeted by the sapphire waters of Osaka Bay surrounding the airport. Nestled on an artificial island, Kansai International Airport was built to relieve the crowding at Osaka International Airport and sees over 25 million passengers pass through its doors each year.
There are plenty of things to do while waiting for your flight, as the airport boasts a variety of modern amenities. Alongside its extensive duty-free shopping, cafes and local eateries, be sure to visit the Sky View Observation Hall and watch the planes take off. Travelling with children? Take them to the airport’s array of designated play areas.
Getting here
Kansai International Airport is served by two separate rail connections from Osaka, the Kansai Airport Lines network and the private Nankai Electric Railway. If you would prefer more private means of transportation, hire a limousine or taxi. Alternatively, if you have your own vehicle you will find sufficient short and long-term parking at the airport.
