With its glimmering lake, towering peaks and glitzy resorts, St Moritz has been putting the glamour in Alpine tourism since 1864. Switzerland’s original ski resort has hosted the Winter Olympics twice and lures winter enthusiasts in with its fresh snow and 300 days of sunshine a year.

Boasting 350 kilometers of some of the world’s best pistes, St Moritz naturally emphasizes skiing and snowboarding. Glide down the 1948 Olympic run at Piz Nair or tackle the eight-kilometer-long piste at Piz Corvatsch, one of the highest peaks in the Swiss Alps.

Watch the famous “White Turf” horse races, polo or cricket played on the frozen surface of St Moritz Lake. Afterward, take a "taxi ride" on the Olympia Bob Run. Covering 1,722 meters in 75 seconds, it's the fastest way to get back to the village.

Do you have a sweet tooth? Indulge in an Engadine walnut tart at Conditorei Hanselmann patisserie. For a unique experience, ride the funicular up the Muottas Muragl Mountain and follow the candles to the Igloo Bar. Here you can enjoy traditional Swiss fondue in a glittering igloo adorned with beautiful ice carvings.

Tired of skiing? Feast your eyes on a precious collection of Alpine landscape paintings at the Segantini Museum. The gallery is dedicated to Giovanni Segantini, a famous 19th-century Realistic Symbolism artist who spent much of his later life in St Moritz.

Getting around

St Moritz is a three-hour drive from Zurich Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport, which are also connected via trains. St Moritz town can easily be explored on foot or by bus. Tour buses and trains depart from St Moritz Railway Station.
