Booked a room with windows which cost more than staying in the basement, however the windows were all tinted and you are not able to get a view of what’s outside. Overall, a pretty decent stay with travel sized amenities provided.

It is my first time in Taipei and had an overall exceptional stay in Hotel Papa Whale. For someone who wanted to stay near Ximending and other tourist locations (i.e., shopping district, Ximending walking district, MRTs and bus stops), Hotel Papa Whale is the best spot. At first, I was greeted by the female concierge staff (but not that warm, I guess, that is just the way people there, not a big deal for me tho, just an observation). Also, I thought there is an express check in but was informed that the check in actually starts at 3PM, all good with me. They permitted us to leave our luggages in the lobby before we check in so we can roam around and come back. I also like how quick the (male) staffs accommodate whenever I have concern (i.e., having a new key card because I was locked out of the room once and getting a new TV remote control). The buffet breakfast is, I would say, above average but not that exceptional. Don't get me wrong, the food is great but it's the same everyday (I stayed there for 5D4N). Overall, I enjoyed the comfortable stay in the hotel. I would highly recommend this.

You need a nice clean place to sleep with a great location? This is it. Check in and check out is via terminal. The buffet breakfast could be a little better. Wish there was a bidet in the toilet. I love the name.

DislikedDid not feel like I was a guest more like a statistic the check-in process was confusing they're trying to automate everything and I get it we are in 2024 but there's a point where he gets a little bit too much and the buffet was not at the hotel it was next door literally 10 seconds away no big deal but I would give the buffet a solid seven and a half no sweets or any type of dessert but overall good

Service is excellent and staff are helpful. A little bit far away from Metro station and soundproofing in the room can be better. Overall, a pleasant stay.
