It's pretty clean and quiet; however, the building is a bit old fashioned. The staff are polite but not customer centric. There are so many small areas where the staff can be more helpful rather mindless following the book. These little kind gestures create no additional cost to the hotel (not hurting its profit margin and stock price) but the customers would appreciate them so much more. I asked about Evergreen membership accumulation. He explained that only when we spend above 5000 then is eligible, because these points are additional benefits to the customer at no additional cost. That's true except I don't recall Marriott, Hilton Honor, and Shangri-La golden circle asking for additional fee to offer their hotel points. In fact, I spent well over 9000 with my family that night. The staff surely remember the hotel policy well.

This hotel was outside the star-level and price that I normally book, but it was a treat for the better half’s birthday. Check-in was a breeze, and check-out was pretty much the same. We were upgraded to an Executive Floor room, which was a lovely surprise, and we were fortunate to have friends staying in the hotel in a standard room so we could compare the two. The differences were minor, but they were nice: coffee bags instead of instant three-in-one mix, more pillows, a couple of complimentary drinks in the fridge, and so on. The rooms were nice, but there are a couple of things that need consideration. Firstly, USB ports. In nearly all 3 and 4 start hotels I stay at, there are a couple of USB ports. Even if not hard wired in, then a bank of them provided. Secondly were the lights. When you slotted your room card in, the room lit up like a lighting shop display – it really was very beautiful. But come time to sleep, turning off the lights was a real chore. The first night we slept with some on because we couldn’t figure out how to turn them off completely. I know… that says more about how stupid I am… but most hotels have a master switch to turn off all lights, and given how many lamps there were, it would have been a blessing. These are small criticisms indeed. The hotel hot spring was a treat and the breakfast varied and of quality (the truffle buttered bread was a revelation). Worthy of your consideration.
