DislikedVery strict about check out time in a way that no other hotel has ever been. Liza was rude.

LikedRooms are nice - spacious and stylish, with bath robes (no slippers though), and very comfortable beds! Chromium restaurant has amazing breakfast options, would highly recommend! There are a lot of amenities and activities you can try. But there is a catch, will elaborate on it further. Spa complex is nice - highly recommend doing the massage, IT IS FABULOUS!!! Spa complex also has a really nice (and actually hot) hot tub, two saunas (one is dry and not hot as it usually is, and another one is an eucalyptus steam room and it was my favorite!) Vanity area is super comfortable and has lotions, deodorants, hair sprays and even the Dyson hair dryers!! There are a lot of machines and equipment in the gym, the second floor has an amazing natural lighting which makes working out even better:))
DislikedRooms are not sound proof at all. I woke up multiple times to someone crying, shouting, and slamming the door during the night, just keep it in mind. Amenities and activities are nice, as I mentioned before, BUT be prepared to reserve everything in advance and PAY EXTRA. We visited the hotel for my birthday. The plan for our trip was to enjoy the city during the day and relax afterwards in spa. Wrong decision! All amenities (except for the restaurant) close at 8 on the weekend. I am used to hotels with 24/7 gyms and pools that are open at least until 10pm.. so first day we did not get to enjoy the amenities at all. The next day though we found out that you need to reserve tennis courts and POOL LANES in advance. Please please keep it mind when planning your stay! We were only able to swim for 30 mins which was really upsetting considering that we planned to spend the previous evening and the next morning at the pool:( About tennis. The courts are nice, but be prepared to pay extra. No, the resort fee does not cover tennis (even though they say on the website that the hotel provides complimentary racquets but you will need to purchase the balls. You also need to pay for the court usage…) So for us, the hotel does not worth the money we paid. Maybe if you go there for a day and just the amenities without staying overnight is worth it, but paying $400 total and only getting 30 mins of pool and a packed gym for this money… ugh

As a frequent business traveler, mention of "hotel gym" causes most of us to just roll our eyes. Not the case with The Hotel at Midtown which you should consider a "gym hotel." They have EVERYTHING, weights, shop, lockers, group classes, basketball & tennis/pickleball courts, weights, spin, and more! If you're someone who likes to stay active but dislike hotel gyms, try this gym hotel instead! We'll definitely be back.
