LikedRoom was very spacious. Bed comfortable enough. Asked for more pillows that arrived quickly. Small but ok balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast was excellent. Bar was cosy and comfortable. Pool was very nice and the indoor pool was warm and inviting. Decent position on the sea. Not overlooked from the sea side of the property

DislikedFurniture was weird; looked like an Ikea distress sale! Not enough storage in the bathroom. No lighting by the desk or seating area. No tissues, cotton wool or body lotion. Asked for tissues and loo rolls arrived! The spa was good but only took cash.

tend not to post reviews of services and sites unless I feel that the service provider has performed in an exceptionally good - or bad - way. Unfortunately, in the case of the Cavalieri Hotel in Malta, I feel so strongly that I cannot avoid informing you of my disatifaction of my experiences there. Their website stresses the hotel is committed to high levels of customer satisfaction. I beg to differ! 1. On arrival late in the evening Sat 27 Apr and after taking our cases up to our room we then went to the dining room for a meal which we had purchased at reception and returned to our room to shower. The first issue was the difficulty my wife and I had in regulating the shower water temperature which was far too hot. I managed (just) to shower and not get scalded but my wife could only set the control to barely warm. This was the same for Sun 28 Apr as well. On Mon 29 I managed to adjust the temperature enough to use the shower comfortably. Also on the evening of Sun 28 the toilet roll holder came apart - it was very loose at the wall. 2. For the nights of Sat 27 & Sun 28, due to very strong winds being experienced in the area and unable to set the room temperature to cool, I opened the balcony door which resulted in both the adjoining room and main room doors rattling all through the night. I managed to stop this and get a peaceful night's sleep by wedging a hotel paper napkin in the door frames. 3. The next issue was with the TV in the room. We wanted to catch up on the world news & weather but found that the TV remote wouldn't change to more than two channels and it wouldn't turn the TV off. I then found the wall switch behind the TV and turned it off. Then when trying to ring reception to report these issues I found the telephone in the room wouldn't work so on Mon 29 I went down to reception to report the shower, toilet roll holder, TV, and telephone. The next day Tue 30 I had to advise reception that none of the issues seem to have been sorted whereupon one of the maintenance team (Noel) came to assist. He advised that perhaps the shower temp was unstable due to other guests use, said he would get the phone engineer to sort the telephone and tried to fix the TV. After a number of attempts to fix and then remove the TV (for a replacement) - with me assisting Noel by supporting the TV while he struggled to remove it from the bracket, he gave up and my wife & I then left to go out. 4. Wed 1 May the toilet roll holder was still loose so reported it again and I was advised by the reception staff that these issues had been 'signed off' in the report book. The telephone was also not working but I never tried the TV for the remainder of our stay. 5. On Wed 1 or Thu 2 I asked to speak to the duty manager (called Basil I think) to inform him that I wasn't happy with the way things were going and asked if he could resolve theur issues. By end of Thu 2 the toilet roll holder was fixed but didn't use/check the telephone & TV. 6. Fri 3 May was our check out day and just before leaving I spoke to the duty manager (Basil, I think) re the past 5 days. I explained that his staff (reception, dining room and bar staff) were first class, friendly and courteous - particularly Noel the maintenance man, that the hotel was clean and smart, the food was very good, the room (with balcony) was large and comfortable but that after having paid nearly 1100 Euros for the stay I didn't think that I'd had value for money and that the service care was very poor. Clearly the property needed a better check and maintenance regime. I asked if he would consider a reduction in the bill as a form of goodwill compensation but he wouldn't agree to that. This all leaves me with the view that despite the positives I cannot recommend the Cavalieri Art Hotel in St Julian's.
