Hotel Torre Guelfa

LikedLocation was perfect, very central to the historic city but the road was still quiet to get a good night’s rest. The roof terrace was beautiful and the breakfast room was a fantastic addition and made our stay much easier! The whole building was decorated beautifully, and was very clean. The staff were really helpful and welcoming and made things as smooth as could be! Thanks so much!

LikedExcellent location just a few minutes away from Ponte Vecchio. It has a private tower available for the guests with amazing views of the city. Very helpful staff. Facilities a bit old fashioned and the bathroom could be in better shape, but still it worths the value.

DislikedDuring our two-night stay here recently, we faced a deeply troubling issue—items worth 500 euros were stolen from our luggage. We believe the theft occurred in the hotel's storage room (or perhaps even worse, from the room itself), where we had placed our bags for a few hours post-checkout. This room requires a key from the reception and is directly overseen by it, leading us to fully trust in its security. We discovered the theft after reaching our next destination (because well, we trusted the hotel completely and did not recheck our bags after packing for checkout and we travel a lot never having had such an experience). The expensive items were selectively removed from our bags leaving the other things untouched which shows that it was not lost during travel in train station or elsewhere. We immediately reached out to the hotel staff for assistance. Unfortunately, their response was far from helpful. We were initially directed to write an email detailing the incident, to which we received no reply. When we contacted them over the phone, we were given dismissive comments suggesting that either we misplaced the items or another guest might have taken them. The person on the phone insisted that it was not the hotel's problem and refused to offer any support or solutions. It was particularly disheartening to see a complete lack of courtesy and empathy from the hotel management. As guests, we trusted them with our belongings, only to be told that our loss was our own responsibility—a stance that contradicts the basic expectations of security and safety when you book a hotel. It is a shame that our beautiful experience in Florence was completely marred by this experience, especially the hotel's response.
