LikedLocation

DislikedRenovations so woken at 5am to scaffolding and workmen…no door on the bathroom (just a privacy screen) which is not ideal when travelling with your 12 year old son. We stayed in the Annex but the work was happening everywhere and very noisy…none of this was explained and at €360 per night I’d expect to be able to sleep.

LikedGood amount of shops and restaurants in the area. Close to Trevi fountain and Spanish steps. Had to get a taxi to the Vatican. They surprised us with a bottle of Champaign for our anniversary and the breakfast was plentiful. Nice shower in the room. All workers were very nice and the room was cleaned any day we wanted it to be.

DislikedPillows on the bed didn't suit us but we are used to latex pillows.

LikedThe location was PERFECT. Most of the breakfast was not to my personal taste. However, there was a selection of yoghurts and cereals, cold meats and cheese, hard boiled eggs and vegetables. There was also a choice of scrambled eggs (which were VERY moist), cubes of sausage and VERY greasy bacon. The juices were from concentrate so I did not have any of those. Sliced bread was provided for toasting but an artisan bread would have been very welcome. Plus points: coffees were made at the bar and brought to your table by friendly staff. Selection of pastries was very good and beautifully presented. You can pay an extra supplement for poached eggs etc and fresh orange juice, but I didn’t do this as I thought this should have been integral to the breakfast price I’d already paid.

DislikedI was not informed that the hotel was undergoing works being done to the exterior, so it was a shock to see scaffolding and netting covering the facade when the taxi dropped us off. We were three women travelling together and it was a huge shock the following morning when I pulled back the curtains to find two men looking at me. I reported this to the Receptionist but she did not think anything of this! No full length mirror in the room which I think is necessary. The room has ambient lighting and the area at the wardrobe is very dark so a light would be beneficial.

LikedLocation

DislikedMy recent ( April 5 to 8 2024 ) stay was marred by a few unexpected challenges that potential guests should be aware of before booking. First and foremost, the hotel was undergoing repairs during our visit, which significantly impacted our experience. Our balcony view, one of the reasons we chose this hotel, was completely obstructed due to the ongoing construction work. Additionally, the privacy of our room was compromised as workers were present on our balcony during the afternoon hours, making it uncomfortable when we were in the room. Air conditioning system. We were informed that the AC is only switched on in May. However, it turns on the next day probably every one complained as it was very hot . This inconsistency in service and information was slightly disconcerting. Moreover, the room's amenities, particularly the walk-in tub, were not as described in the hotel's pictures. The lack of adequate privacy measures for the tub was a concern for us, especially since we were traveling with children. This discrepancy between the photos and the actual room setup was disappointing. Including the breakfast, which didn't meet 3-star standards, we believe a discount or refund is warranted due to the unexpected issues encountered during our stay.
