DislikedWe travelled to several cities in a short period of time and the thing that was extremely important to us was the location, something we did not receive as “promised”. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the hotel, we were told that we would be accommodated at another hotel 5 minutes away from the one we had reserved. In reality, the distance was really 7-8 minutes, but not the attitude of the staff at the reception. Of course, they did not explain to us what the problem was, and when we asked, the answer was something like: “you are going to stay in a 4 star hotel, what is the problem?”. I will not mention the tone and in fact that the Cavalleto is also 4 stars. I don't know if it is the usual practice with overbooking, but I want to highlight it for future guests. Despite the fact that we were worried about walking home at night through the labyrinths of Venice, we had a great time. If they had explained it to us in the beginning, I wouldn't have even mentioned it. But definitely the price-quality ratio does not correspond to the hotel in question.

LikedThe location of the hotel was the best thing. The staff were very freindly and for an Italian hotel, the breakfast was good too.

DislikedOtherwise, the main disappointment is that it is advertized and sold as a 4 star hotel when in reality, the room provided was more of a two star quality, even though we were told on arrival that we were being upgraded to 'superior' room. Furniture was scratched, wall paper coming out and bathroom sink even scratched (see photos). I did not even bother complaining as did not want to waste my time when hotel seemed pretty full. In fact on checking in, our so called upgraded room was actually in a different building (with a very shabby entrance) opposite the hotel.
