Not dealing professionally 1.i was with two kids under two years , had an issue with the hair dryer it was not working when I rang the front desk they didn’t show up for more than 1 hour. When I rang them the second time didn’t respond for my call knowing my room no. There was a list of tv channels which the guest could watch from the list only few channels were working specially kids channel was not working. Third issue was with the quilt we had an ichy feeling on our body as the laundry been not done properly. It’s not Upto 4star standard.

I have never reviewed a hotel/resort with still 1 night of 6 remaining before checking out. But as I sit here relaxing on our final day I realized that there is nothing that could possibly change my final assessment - a near perfect score. In 2019 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Jetwings Sunrise, neighboring Uga Bay resort. I tried to book and celebrate our 30th at Sunrise too. To our disappointment Sunrise has been closed since COVID. Determined to return to Pasikuda we searched Agoda. We had 2 choices, either step up from our budget with Uga Bay or step down with Amaya with an advertised price point that was too good to be true. At the time the reviews were highly favorable for Amaya so I thought that we could just spend the savings on extras (BTW no extras where purchased in the end). After 5 nights I can assure you that Amaya is no step down. Upon arrival I was immediately impressed with the architecture of the property. The use of space, symmetry, slits, batons, pillars, natural materials and earthy colors as features was surpassed by the resort's layout. It's as if the designer’s foremost principle were to highlight the beach’s natural beauty. The pool, like a centerpiece, is perfectly positioned just 20+m parallel to the warm sea water. Sitting poolside is IMHO better than sitting sea side. Surrounding the pool are the dining areas. Even the sea view rooms situated on the east have their balconies angled to take in the beaches scenic beauty. Walking along Pasikuda beach (supported by Google Maps satellite view) you will observe that no other resort offers such breathtaking views. But it's more than value for money, views & structure that makes a resort great. Ultimately, the restaurant crew, reception, house keeping and the pool attendants will complete the user experience. The reception made our anniversary day highly memorable with a romantic room arrangement and with a wonderful cake. House keeping immediately replenished additional water bottles and tea/coffee per our consumption and daily changed towels without request. The pool attendants were always setting up or moving deck chairs with frequent fresh pool towels. But the restaurant staff was where that Sri Lankan hospitality truly shone. Supun & Shalika from the main restaurant and Thanushan from the Honey Beach Club will do whatever they can to remove any doubt that you chose to stay in one of the best places in Sri Lanka. We traveled on a 9hr 2nd class train ride from Colombo to get here to celebrate our 30th. Tomorrow at 6am we have our return train ride back. Well done to the management of Amaya, you really made the whole journey starting from Melbourne, Australia to Colombo to Pasikuda a truly memorable and worth while experience. I know things change and that timing is everything but I genuinely wish other travelers get a taste of at least half of what we experienced. Rgds ash Ps: 1.
