Olbia City Hotel

DislikedLocation: the hotel is far (10-15 min drive) from the City center. Parking: Despite of that, free public parking near the hotel is very limited, and I ended up parking in a no-parking space over night and had to move my car elsewhere at 7am to avoid a fine. Hotel parking is 10eur per day, but if you arrive when reception is closed like I did, you cannot access the hotel parking any more. It was very annoying given that I had specifically chosen a less central location to avoid parking issues. Calling the hotel "city hotel" is just ridiculous given the location. The staff (not even the cleaning lady!) knocked aggressively on the door several times 5min prior to check out time until I opened the door "to remind me about check out", and insisted that I check out on the exact minute of the time indicated - as if 5 min more or less made any difference... Facilities: nothing special really. The room hardly fitted the bed, the chair was super cheap, uncomfortable and too low to work on the desk, and the toilet paper holder was broken.

DislikedWe spent one night in the hotel. We forgot our jacket in the closet. When we went back to get the jacket a few hours later, we were told it wasn't there and that it was our problem.

LikedAverage breakfast, at least croissants and bread were fresh. Sheets and towels were fresh. The bed was comfortable. Some of staff members were really nice. The only really good thing was that we could park motorcycles in garage (of course we had to pay 5 € per bike per night) so that they stayed dry when it was raining.

DislikedIt is very weird to me that I don't find any comments on Booking for this hotel, so I am a little sceptic that my comment will even get out. But I found a lot of comments on other websites...I am sorry that I didn't saw them first. Anyway...I don't criticize easily. I really try to see the good things. But there were so few. I am really sorry to say this but no way this hotel has 4 stars. It looks like they bought apartments from people who used to live here and just left it as it is. They did little to no renovation. The furniture is well worn out and old. It shows too many traces of use. A lot of equipment was falling appart (toilet brush, shower, trash cans, cabinets...). I mean there is nothing wrong with turning old apartments into hotel but you have to renovate it a fair amount. Our room didn't look anything like on the pictures. I took a glimpse at another room in the ground floor and it was much nicer so I believe not all rooms are like ours. We were at second floor. The room also smelled like people used to smoke here. There was a small kitchen, don't really know why, but it was in pretty bad condition. I don't know...everything was so weird here. I usually stay in 3 stars or less hotels and all of them were on a much higher level than this "4" stars hotel. I wouldn't be so annoyed if the price would be fair. But 72 € per night in an off-season is much too much for such disappointment. If only they wouldn't promote 4 stars so much. It feels like a scam. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anything else but for staying 1 night after ferry arrival.
