For us the decision to return to Plantation was an easy one, we had enjoyed the previous holiday so much we couldn't wait to return. We did kick around the idea of other resorts in Fiji, both on the mainland and other islands, but none of them had the same appeal to us as Plantation did. We arrived at the airport around midday and chose to take a taxi to Denarau directly rather than wait for the free transfer. This gave us enough time for a quick look around the shops at the marina, and a nice lunch and drinks before boarding the Malolo Cat at 2pm. On arrival at Plantation, we were warmly welcomed at the jetty and checked in at the main reception area. The nice cool drinks were appreciated! The carry bag for the provided drinking water bottles was a great idea too. Plantation run a returnees program too, for us we got a fantastic fruit platter and a nice bottle of wine, plus free WiFi. Some of the people you meet at Plantation have been coming back for 20 years. Our room was a freshly renovated Garden Terrace #487, immediately next door to the room we were in the previous year. One really nice touch was the AC and fans were already on as we entered the room. We were keen to see the changes - the room was open plan with the dividing wall gone between the single beds and the double. The bathroom was also open plan with a half height wall between the toilet and shower which made better use of the space then the pre-renovation layout. The room still has plenty of power points (8) for charging cameras etc. Our room was very clean, tidy and functional. The beach was about 30 seconds walk from the front door of the room, though as we got into Fiji time it became a minute long walk. Plantation has two great beaches - the one at our end had great snorkeling out near the pontoon, and the other - which has gone through a beach restoration project recently - had all tide swimming and was great to just float around.
