The Jazz Hotel was recommended and we were not disappointed. Great location, clean, modern and impeccable service. Eating around, metro mouth at the corner (ideal for getting around and it is very well indicated at each subway entrance). Also near the Rambla to walk there, its shops and its market. Beware, we are downtown, no balconies to sit, but if you choose to be on the side of the street, it's a little noisier, but more open, clearer and less depressing than back where all you see is the brick wall in front and nearby. Impeccable service at the reception. Some speak Spanish (of course), but also English and French. Beware of pickpockets. It's not a rumor, it's a reality. We did not get robbed during a subway trip. Fortunately, we were 2 and we saw their carousel. Before leaving, we had downloaded 'Good Barcelona' and bought a City Pass. It was very useful.
