    Verified Stay

    Fabulous Lovely Staffs

Owing to a mix up when we booked we were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was, of course, acceptable. The suite was huge, decorated in neutral tones and exceptionally clean. The bed was very large and we had fresh linen daily - our choice. We found it to be extremely comfortable. There was no walk in shower which did mean clambering in and out of a bath to take a shower. Not ideal for a couple in their sixties with a variety of joint replacements, but it in no way affected our enjoyment. We used room service once which was quick and efficient. We ate in the Marconi restaurant which was a high quality meal, beautifully presented and served. Lovely food and service. We breakfasted on one of our days in the Cafe Bristol. A word of warning; the round tables are too small to accommodate the amount of crockery they use to serve breakfast for two people. The food, however, was faultless. I had Eggs Benedict which was not on the menu but when I asked for it there was absolutely not a problem. My partner had the French breakfast, again perfect and featured freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit beautifully served, assorted breads and pastries with preserves and he chose a ham omelette which he declared was delicious. My only niggle in Cafe Bristol was that when my Earl Grey tea arrived I did not realise that the teapot contained only hot water. It was only when inspecting the tea strainer, i have never seen anything like it that I saw my tea leaves sitting I the bottom of the strainer! I immediately added them to the hot water, but that is no way to make tea! Oh and the strainer wasn't actually fit for purpose as the holes were too big and my tea escaped And Earl Grey is a large leaf tea! Yes, I am English. We also enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea in the Column Bar which was delightful. The Earl Grey in the Column Bar was perfectly made and presented, hence my puzzlement about what is happening with the tea in Cafe Bristol. A minor detail.
