About San Cassiano/St. Kassian

San Cassiano is a small, remote town located in the province of Badia, Italy within the vast mountainous realm including Dolomite Settsass, Lagazuoi, La Varella and Settsass. This scenic village serves as a direct point of interest for the Alta Badia skiing area. A combination of decadent cuisine and outdoor adventure opportunities provoke the area’s tourist appeal.

San Cassiano exudes unprecedented views of the Dolomite landscape through all four seasons offering plentiful hiking, climbing, and skiing opportunities. A guided tour of the cave at the base of Piz dles Cunturines and the corresponding village Museum Ladin Ursus ladinicus dedicated to the cave bear Ursus ladinicus adds an exclusive cultural element for interested travellers. In addition, the Piz Sorega gondola lift offers photographic vantage points far above the exquisite landscape and multiple gourmet restaurants sprinkled throughout the town attract visitors for evening leisure.

This remote destination is serviced by shuttle buses that run from the nearest train station of Brunico and during peak months directly from the nearest Bergamo, Brescia and Treviso airports.

Mount Lagazuoi rising above the town of San Cassiano served as a prominent site during World War I. Historic relics enacted around the base of the mountain serve as an honourable remembrance of the tragedy that happened there.
