Reaching the Costa Dorada is easy. International carriers fly into both Barcelona El Prat and Reus airports. There is a frequent, reliable, rail network which runs between Barcelona and many of the coastal towns and cities. The journey by train or bus from Barcelona El Prat Airport to Tarragona takes 1-1.5 hours. Reus Airport to Salou or Tarragona takes around an hour.
Costa Dorada has an interesting blend of history. The ancient cities of Tarragona and Tortosa have Roman and Moorish ties, while the resort of Salou was originally a nest for pirates and smugglers.
