good size roomsThe refurbished rooms were nice, although the breakfast room looked very tired. Food was OK but nothing to shout about. We tried their Italian restaurant, but was very disappointed in the quality of food.

A Cosy Retreat?Situated in the centre of town, a short walk from the theatre, the hotel has a prime location in a sleepy corner of scotland, where the gentle speed of life could overpower you?

Old worlde charm?Stayed one night while on business. The staff training might have been ongoing regarding the waiter in the dinning room, as food ordered only arrived correctly on the second attempt, but that would not stop me from returning.

I stayed here on an overnight stay in Dunoon. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. We were very pleased with our stay here. We did feel however that breakfast started and finished a bit too early for the weekend.

This hotel is in the perfect location if you arrive by car - right next to the ferry terminal. Service is friendly with a bar and dining room with views out over water. Everything in my room appeared to be brand new. I enjoyed my stay.

In a higher tourist season it might have been more difficult to find a place to park, but we were lucky to have a place close by on the street. The front desk was very hospitable and helpful. The Tourist Information Bureau was very close by which was handy and had a very good, knowledgeable staff.

This hotel has recently changed owners and they have upgraded all of the rooms to a very high standard. I was expecting the 'usual' welcome and room style of an established Scottish seaside town hotel (indifferent staff, inferior single room, dated style etc.) but the Argyle was a very pleasant surprise. My room (129) resembled something a top London hotel would offer. Modern furnishings, Tropical rainshower in the bathroom, Flat screen tv. high quality bedding and pillows...it certainly was a pleasant discovery. Only sampled breakfast in the hotel (hence the score of 4) but the menu in the RIO restaurant looked very appetising and value for money. Definitely recommend this hotel.

As it was the begining of the holiday season the staff were mostley all new but all were very eager to please and I have no doubt they will flourish as the management appeared to be very capable. I tried tapas for the first time in their rio restaurant and after being helped by the barman to order I found it to be wonderful and would reccomend it .

Did not offer the price as displayed on laterooms. In fact, their 'normal' rate as displayed on laterooms is also exagerated. I would advise confirming the rate with the hotel directly prior to booking as laterooms is obviously just being used to drive customers their way.

Tiny room, poor quality furniture and mould in the shower cubicle.

The hotel room was rather dated, and at night the local pub noise levels prevented sleep until around 2am. Generally the hotel staff were friendly/helpful but wouldnt stay in this hotel again.

Great location, friendly staff, but our food was expensive and poor quality.

very rundown-rooms in need of a lick of paint.

this hotel is drab, dreary and outdated in dire need of decorating and bringing into the 21st century, the room only had a small portable tv which was on a small table you could barely see from the bed, this type of hotel puts people of coming to scotland.

I was disappointed how down at heel the place was for a *** hotel (compared with others I have stayed in) I was also extremely cross that two people, in Dunoon for the same funeral as I was, got single rooms for almost half what I paid - £25 a night - I was there Friday night foir one of my nights. If I had to find somewhere in Dunoon in a hurry it would do but that is mainly because of the location. Needs to get its act together - on basics like reliable fast hot water and shower curtains that reach below the top of the bath.
