Since 1908 Hotel- Restaurant "Zum Schwarzen Baren" (Black Bear Inn) is owned by the Pritz Family, but its history even dates back to the year 1609. Then, 300 years ago, the house was named "Wharzhaus zum Schwarzen Baren". Today, the arched ceiling of the guestroom is still a visible reminder of these former times when the room was used as stalls for the horses which pulled the ships up-river. In recent times, the treasured country guest house at the Western entry to the Wachau Valley, has become quite famous, particularly for its excellent food. Here in Emmersdorf there is always a focus on down-to-earth regional specialities. Today guests come from near and far to induldge in culinary delights. Even though Chef Martin Pritz puts family tradition first, he continually makes excursions into the world of newer, lighter and more creative cooking.
