Your hotel is a disgrace! I booked the room on the internet with a request for a twin bedded room with one firm mattress … below is an extract of your description of The Yorkshire Hotel as shown on the internet … “The hotel is renowned as one of the best hotels in Harrogate, with its beautiful decor, ambience and exceptional customer service. There is a wide variety of bedrooms available, ranging from standard single rooms to luxurious suites. Each of the rooms has television, wireless Internet access and tea and coffee making facilities … the brasserie serves a wide variety of fantastic dishes and drinks, all freshly prepared using the finest ingredients … with its many new features, in addition to the friendly and professional service the hotel has always provided, you're sure of an enjoyable leisure and business stay at the Yorkshire Hotel”I am listing below the numerous areas of total dissatisfaction as discussed with the duty manager … 1. The room initially allocated was drab and dreary and both beds were totally unsatisfactory … 2. After visiting several alternative rooms we eventually chose the best of a very bad bunch … unfortunately it was too late to look for another hotel … 3. The key reason for relocating was to try and find a firm comfortable bed - every single room we looked at had ‘creaky’ beds, mattresses that had seen better days and, like the rest of the hotel, the carpets looked worn and grubby …4. In our room we were provided with half a ‘loo roll’ and no toilet brush … 5. The bathroom door wouldn’t close … 6. Tea and coffee making facilities with one shortbread biscuit but no drinking water - when we later asked for a bottle of still water at reception it took five minutes to find one … 7. At nine o’clock in the morning we entered the breakfast room and stood waiting for attention - a friend wished us ‘good luck’ on his way out - whilst we waited the few staff that were there rushed about in a disorganized way returning empty handed to the ki

Stayed in Yorkshire Hotel on Saturday night as a friend was getting married nearby. We are from Leeds so not far away at all but thought we would treat ourselves and stay over - make a weekend of it. Hotel is in excellent location and looks fantastic from the outside. Furniture in room could do with being updated but all in all the hotel served its purpose and for the price we certainly can't complain. Breakfast was outstanding. Full English with all the trimmings was just what the doctor ordered after a wedding reception that went on until the early hours. We ate breakfast on Sunday morning, today is Tuesday and I think I am still full!!!!

Very DisappointingDon’t be fooled by the grand exterior, contemporary lobby and the efficient, friendly check-in staff; the real clue to the nature of this hotel is the rather shabby, very smelly lift that could barely accommodate my partner and I. Unfortunately the words shabby, smelly and small continued to be the words of choice as we made our way along the corridor and into our room. As I assessed the horror of our room I pondered what could be the source of the smell; Was it the mould growing contently on the shower curtain? Did it come from the carpet that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in decades? Or, dare I say, was it something far more untoward?! As we were attending a wedding and wouldn’t be spending much time in the room I tried to look on the bright side – all that was important was having a decent bed to rest after a long day. But alas this wasn’t to be; aside from being small, broken springs lead to minor injury and every minuscule movement lead to a real fear that the bed was going to collapse. In fairness we didn’t pay much for our stay at The Yorkshire and therefore we weren’t expecting much. The breakfast was passable and the complimentary shortbread was very tasty, even if they would have been better off spending the money on additional cleaning products. If you’re on a budget there are plenty of cheaper hotels out there that although basic do manage to be both comfortable and clean – something The Yorkshire could not.

had a really enjoyable stay in the yorkshire hotel. you cant go wrong for the location. really really enjoyed our week end. breakfast was super and the room was great.

Ideal weekend breakWe had a very comfortable family break. The room was more like a suite with two large rooms and a large bathroom and balcony. There were two televisions, and two table and chair sets. The towels were lovely and clean, large and fluffy, and there was also a heated towel rail.

great locationfantastic location, opposite betty's tearooms, bedroom overlooked flower gardens and stray. great that car parking was provided right outside hotel. rooms a tad small, had to climb over my bed to reach kettle, but was clean and everything you needed for a night was there.

The corridors appeared to be rather dowdy even though I think they'd been refurbished in a trendy grey colour. The colour scheme didn't do the hotel any favours. The room too was rather dowdy decor-wise and there was no room to swing a cat in the shower room. Disappointed that we didn't get a bath. No room in the car park so we had to park the car 1/2 mile away in a public car park for which we had to pay. Anyone thinking of staying in Harrogate - beware there is absolutely nowhere to park unless you're prepared to pay. Harrogate Town Council have everywhere covered in pay and display parking - disgraceful!

A disapointing stayI've stayed at the Yorkshire several times before, and depending on the room rate it can be a good value accomodation option in Harrogate.My most recent stay was not enjoyable however.Despite the hotel being relatively empty I was allocated the smallest room I have stayed in which smelt a little of damp and was located on the side of the hotel by a couple of bars which were noisy throughout the night.Only half the restaurant was open. When I went for a meal at 7pm I was told a reservation was required as the restaurant was full (only two table were occupied at the time) and that the earliest I could eat was 8.45pm. Returning at 8.45pm the restaurant was again quiet. I ordered a steak medium rare, which came well done, and whilst I was eating breakfast was being set up around me.I ordered a paper which never came.This can be a good hotel if you get a cheap deal and are allocated a good room. It is a little hit and miss however and I would no longer consider this one of my favoured options for Harrogate given the choice available.

Thumbs upA comfortable and peacefull hotel with some modern comforts and some period features. Perfect for visiting the town. Frendly staff and good parking facilities.My only reget is that we went into town for lunch and did not sample the hotel menu which looked very good.Maybe could have done with a few more milks in the room for tea.

Our one night stay in HarrogateMr wife and I were very happy with our stay at the Yorkshire. The customer service was excellent and we were given all the help we required from the reception staff. The accommodation was comfortable, the breakfast meal and facilities were excellent. We had a thoroughly enjoyable one night stay. Thank you.

harrogate 09Hotel staff really friendly and helpful , car parking could be a problem but we were the lucky ones , room was clean and tidy but bathroom could be spruced up a little , quite noisy as we faced onto the tapas bar which went on til 2 in the morning. Overall a great hotel ideally placed and will recommend to family and friends.

Single room experienceThe single room was at the furthest end of a massive corridor. The key was difficult to use, there were cobwebs on the ceiling and the room smelt damp. It was dirty behind the bed and the bathroom had had a shower added and non matching tiles had been used. I had to call for a towel. All together extremely seedy.

The Yorkshire Hotel - chosen as a classic Late Rooms bargain - proved to be a stately hotel coping well with surviving in the modern world. It is ideally placed overlooking the Stray, and close to the station, shops, amenities - and Betty's! Modernisation and the inevitable fire doors and partitions perforce have taken their toll somewhat on the granduer, but furnishings and facilities are sympathetic and comfortable. The bedroom was excellent - comfortable and clean - and the wifi (complimentary) was perfect. Both bar bistro and restaurant food were good quality and well served - usually an insurmountable challenge for any town centre affordable hotel - and both felt comfortable.A good place to stay - and a hotel deserving of support.
