Was it value for money ?Booked at this hotel as it offered a cheap deal for the night that I wanted to stay in that area. The room had no windows that I could look out of and because of this made it seem even smaller than it was. The only source of natural light was through two windows in the roof area. There was only leg room around the sides of the bed and small peices of wood attached to the wall for use as a bedside table. The breakfast was served hot and was tasty with the full English consisting of one egg, one sausage, one half of a tomato, one rasher of bacon and some baked beans. I opted out of having the black pudding. On vacating the room I had to search for someone (who I found in the kitchen area) to pay my bill. For the special cheap offer price paid I was satisfied with what I got but had I paid the correct full price I would have been disapointed.

Enjoyable VisitStaff were helpful and food was excellent. Town centre setting but countryside was close. Unable to dine in restaurant both nights due to club bookings which was a disappointment but bar setting was friendly and service good.

Wonderful stayWill be back again. Staff were welcoming and polite. Room small, but very clean. Breakfast was lovely, and a complete bargain.Only negatives (and they were minor) was minimal parking and probably due to the age of the property, noise carried a little too well. As I said, minor points though, as we will be back, and for longer next time!!!

1 night stayAll staff friendly and helpful.Room spacious and clean but bed old and creaky .Excellent breakfast and evening meal in restaurant. Well worth a stay, not much in Ruthin itself.

Friendly welcoming staff, but creaking floorboardsA pleasant central place to stay. The staff one and all of easy manner. Too easy possibly, as they did forget my morning call. But I was awake anyway so it was of no matter.

This was our third visit to the olde anchor, we were disappointed with this visit. Firstly the pub itself was cold when we went in at lunch time, the manager was unfriendly and when we booked in we had booked two rooms under one person but they only provided one room when it clearly stated on their sheet we had booked two. The rooms were cold to start with and we had to bump up the heating, also my room was not the cleanest as i found a dirty pillowcase and hair in the sink. The second room was cleaner however the bed was very lumpy so they didnt have a very good nights sleep. The following morning at breakfast the staff werent very friendly and the breakfast was not as tasty as previus occasions, plus the veggie option was just a full english with no bacon or sausage! When we checked out they were trying to over charges us on the previous nights meal and we had to query the bill consantly and then we didnt recieve an apology for it! all in all not a pleasent stay most dissapointed.

The staff at this hotel were really nice and very helpful. The rooms where qute small with very creaky floor boards. Everytime the people in the room above moved i could here them (this included when they turned over in bed). The hotel was in a really good location especially if you are attending a wedding at the castle.

The room was very small but very clean. Would book again but would of liked the room to be a bit more spacious although ok for one night's stay. Can't comment on the quality of food as didn't eat in the hotel

Friendly and very helpful staff. A bit of a trek to room but found a shorter way once settled in. Room clean and comfy. Bath could possibly benefit from a bath mat, a bit scared of slipping when having a shower! Lovely olde worldy place would definately visit again.

Car park is only big enough for about 10 cars and access is a bit tightWe had a room in the courtyard which had a 'lock off' to the adjoining room. The rooms were separated by only a single door , so consequently we could here everything from the neighbours. The mattress was not very comfortable and really needed replacing, as did the carpet which was a bit grubby. The staff were very friendly and helpful but could obviously do with some help on occasions.Breakfast was OK but again the only waitress was struggling to cope with a full dining room

For the price, it was superb, but the price was very low.

Postitives: Decent sized room, good shower, plenty of tea and coffee included, watchable tv, generous breakfast servings, friendly staff.Negatives: Room facing onto car park, very thin walls / ceiling with only a thin door separating an adjoining room which meant lots of next door noise in the form of tv voulme, snoring and talking as if it were in your own room.

This hotel was booked for a long weekend in North Wales to celebrate my partner's birthbay. The price we paid was for bed & breakfast & evening meal, plus a complimentary box of chocolates and a flower basket, so it was reasonable value for money. The building itself is very old, so it is quite cramped and dark. our room was adequate, but not particularly clean. Unfortunately, as is the case in many older buildings, the plumbing is incredibly noisy, and as a light sleeper, other guests kept waking me up. Also, it's rather a shame that the local youths tend to gather on the green outside and their rowdy behaviour also kept me awake and worrying about the security of my car. The staff, whilst never rude, were not particularly attentive either. The evening meal was very good but I was surprised that the restaurant was as quiet as it was. It did the job, but not one to rush back to !

The room was small but pleasant. We were disappointed that the main restaurant was not open and that we had to order from the bar menu. The car park is small and there was no space on the second night, so I had to park in the street and move the car in the morning, before the wardens started. Good value for the money.

The room was way below the standard Ihad expected but this was changed when the faults were pointed out, however the replacement room also left a lot to be desired, toilet seat split, no tv control available, one night was enough!

room was adequate but VERY small. It was also very very cold in the room especially the bathroom

a great B&B to book if you've been invited to a wedding at Ruthin Castle but can't quite afford the castle itself! Room was quaint but very comfortable, we got a room where there was no traffic noise and breakfast was yummy! only complaint would be that the table wasn't big enough for 2 people and all the breakfast things that arrived!!
