The privately owned Wyastone Hotel, dating back to 1847, is located in a quiet tree lined avenue in elegant Montpellier, less than 5 minutes walk from the best shops and restaurants in Cheltenham. The Wyastone has a tranquil inner courtyard garden where you can relax and enjoy a drink from the bar. The hotel has 13 individually designed en suite bedrooms, including a four poster and a number of superking size beds, car park, bar, breakfast room and garden. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available.Every room has tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, and wonderful wraparound snuggly duvets.For a small additional charge, guests of The Wyastone Hotel may now use the nearby Cheltenham Ladies College Sports Centre, with its gym and 25 metre heated swimming pool. The Wyastone is a metro' hotel and so doesn't have a restaurant available for dinner, although evening meals and light snacks may be served by arrangement. The hotel is very close to a large selection of high quality restaurants and bars to suit a variety of tastes and pockets. A selection of menus are available with recommendations from our customers and ourselves.The Hotel is conveniently located for the Promenade and bustling High Street, and popular Cheltenham venues including the Town Hall, Everyman theatre, and a little further afield, the famous Cheltenham Racecourse. Lovely stayWe only stayed one night, and arrived late. However the owners greeted us personally and then sorted out some toast to satisfy our hunger pains - and did not charge for it - what a refreshing change! Room was lovely - only done out in the last year, and breakfast next day was also very nice. Very hospitable hotel in a great location - just a couple of minutes walk from the fashionable end of Cheltenham. Would recommend it!

A real gem!I was not sure what to expect when I arrived on the doorstep of the Wyastone. Single rooms in the UK seem to vary widely in terms of what you get. What I found here was a surprise that currently sets the standard high on the "good" end of the scale. Pleasant and helpful staff showed me to my room which was small (as I've come to expect from single rooms) but really seemed immense. The 12 foot ceiling with a lovely hanging light fixture and the nice sized window made the room feel much larger than I had expected. The furnishings of the room were fantastic, from the big obvious things -- a desk and wardrobe in beautiful dark wood and a nice sized flat screen HD TV hanging in a good spot on the wall -- to small touches -- the throw pillows on the bed and the dark copper sunburst switchplate and wall socket covers. With so much care and attention paid to their small rooms, I cannot wait to return and see what their larger rooms look like. The evening I was there I sought the aide of the hostess in finding a place to eat. Normally I would have simply wandered out to find a place on my own, but the staff at the Wyastone were so approachable and anxious to ensure your pleasant stay that not asking for advice seemed absurd. After some searching, a nice place was not only recommended, but phoned for me to ensure that I wouldn't get there to find the kitchen closed (a likely scenario when looking for pub fare on a Sunday evening). I was then provided with both directions, and a map. Arrangements for my departure the next day were equally pleasant. A taxi was called for me at the time I needed it. Breakfast was ready a bit early so I would not miss my connections. The building itself, with its garden, breakfast room, bar, and possibly other bits I didn't have a chance to explore, was all very cozy and warm. Great Cheltenham hotel, lovely new refurbished rooms.The room we stayed in had just been refurbished in a contemporary style and was very pleasant.The hotel itself is in a lovely location, right in the heart of the prettiest part of Cheltenham, close to bars and restaurants but not amongst them, so nice and quiet. Free parking too, which was great. The owners were very friendly, lending us maps and making suggestions. Nicely done and well worth the money we paid.

Great value for moneyThis is a lovely hotel, very close to the town centre in a lovely location. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, food was great, and the room was perfect. Excellent value as well at £55. definitely will stay there again and would recommend this to everyone.

An excellent, friendly well run hotelWhat a great place to stay in a very good area of Cheltenham, we booked this last minute and the whole experience was excellent. The room we had was very tastefully decorated, extremely clean and tidy and in very good keeping with the rest of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and willing to chat with you, you don't often find that in the larger hotels! The food was very good with plenty to eat and again served by friendly people, you felt almost part of the family. The parking was very good being so close to the centre of Cheltenham. A short walk to all the main shops, restaurants and bars. We are definately going to stay again.

Good building. Room small & basic, bed too soft. Bacon & egg good, but sausage poor. Would suit people who like to chat a lot, as guest house family atmosphere. Parking very tight.

The decor of our room was dated but clean and the bed was extra large and comfortable. Our bed linen was changed twice in our four night stay. Were had small bottles of water in our room which were replaced each day if used. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. There was ample parking and the location was very convenient for walking into the town centre. For evening meals we recommend Flynns Brasserie and the Strada italian restaurant.

I stayed on the 30th July 2008. It is so lovely to be made to feel welcome and to be treated as an individual rather than someone passing by - even though I was only staying for one night. I imagine that it helps to have a family run business such as this one but the staff that I spoke to were all very pleasant people.If you like a more personal touch then I thoroughly recommend the Wyastone. It is conveniently located for the centre of town and has off street parking on site.

Excellent location, less than 5 minutes walk to restaurants etc in Montpellier district of Cheltenham. Very friendly owners and staff, excellent breakfasts. Room clean and serviceable - some rooms are being refurbished, ours wasn't one of them so can't comment. Would stay again.

The owners were extremely helpful. They gave us all the information we needed to do a day walk on the Cotwold Way (we came a little underprepared!). Breakfast was great and plenty of it.

An excellent small hotel within easy walking distance of all the main attractions of Cheltenham. I found it to be very quiet and relaxed. The breakfasts were outstanding - the best poached eggs I ever had.

The hotel is in an excellent location for wine bars and restaurants which is why the owners don't compete with the high street trade. I was working late and was pleased to be served an ecellent bar snack. The breakfast was excellent and the service too.The location was quiet and a perfect nights sleep is guaranteed. definitely go back again
