Perfectly positioned hotel for the tourist. Old hotel with a modern feel, and well maintained. Highly recommended for the price paid. Staff faultless. This will be our first choice when revisiting New York.

The hotel is in an excellant location. The value is very good and the you can request the one of rooms that is of great value. There are only 4 or 5 of these value rooms in the entire hotel so you must contact the hotel directly for them to check availablity. The only draw back is that you have to share a bathroom with one other guest, however you do have a sink in your room. Very good location and the service. The hotel has a lot of history and exceptional decor. Be sure to vist Ayza the Cafe'/Wine bar across the street. Food and service is GREAT! Tell the owner that Jason from Michigan sent you. Make sure to walk outside at night and look directly up at the Empire State Building. Great photo shots at night and day! Enjoy New York City!

This is obviously an old hotel and could use a refurbishment - however the rooms are spacious and clean, beds are comfy and the location is fantastic - 15 mins easy walk to Time Square and Broadway - great for budget with easy access!

Poor breakfast and served in the hall, amazing location on 5th Ave., room was very clean, bathroom very small but normal in Manhattan, employees too cold but I'm italian, so I think is normal in Big Apple.

We couldn't believe how much we paid for the worst room in the city! It was so small we couldn't leave any of our luggage open at all. We had enough room to walk around the bed and that was all! We could change channels on the TV without a remote! It was unbelievable! We had to cross a stairwell to get to our room and the smells were awful. The staff was horrible too. They weren't friendly at all!

An older hotel but great location. Don't expect luxury, but surpassed many tourist hotels in other countries, and the staff were courteous - a seeming rarity. Coffee and muffins in the foyer for breakfast may not suit those who like a full breakfast, but was great. Had a lower level room looking out to the well, so little light, but hey, not in Manhattento sit in a hotel room. Would recommend.

This hotel is awesome! Old world charm and quaint rooms, this place is somewhere you want to return to over and over. The Wolcott is clean and very nice. Centrally located and close to everything. The staff was awesome. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I even left a brand new digital camera in my room and did not realize til I got home. I called the hotel and the housekeeper found it and turned it in. They FedEx'd it to me no problem. Such honesty was refreshing. The continental breakfast in the morning was a very nice extra. I can't believe how reasonable the price was to stay here. I will definitely stay here every time I go to New York City in the future and will recommend them to everyone I know!!! A+++

We chose this hotel based on location, price, and space. We had a Junior Suite with two seperate rooms plus bath that provided ample room for three, including a queen and a day bed with trundle that could have easily slept four. And the price was less than anywhere else for two fulls. Every one of the staff spoke good english and all provided excellent service. Transportation is plentiful with bus service on 5th Ave and Broadway both going South, and 6th Ave going North. The water pressure was also very good. There is an in-room safe available at no cost as well as baggage lockers in the lobby for $1.00. A very comfortable stay and the best value I was able to find in Manhattan.

Safety: I miss anything about safety on your questionaire. We looked into a fireexit hallway and there were items stalled in that space. To our opinion this should never be used as a storage place. Very dangerous in case of an emergency.

I would have recommended this hotel until the last day of our stay when we awoke to plumming problems (the cold tap produced hot water making a shower impossible due to the scalding hot water). We were left with no option but to check out in the humid NY Indian summer unbathed. When we mentioned it at the front desk they gave us the run around. Then this creep who claimed to be the owner of the building came up from behind us and tried to intimidate us to no avail. He said WE should have asked for another room. The rest of the staff was very accomodating but don't make waves lest you encounter this jerk.

This hotel served our purpose - very close to Broadway and other downtown areas accessible. The room was for 3 individuals, so 3 single beds. One area with one bed allowed a little extra privacy. The bathroom was tiny with a minute hand basin. Do not stay here if you want luxury, but for proximity and reasonable cost, very good.

Close to Penn station (convenient for train takers like us!) and fairly easy access to lots of other parts of the city. Not super close to Times Square (approx. 35 mins walking, longer when the streets are very full) but quieter than that area which we appreciated. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go and only took one subway train (from the Statten Island Ferry Terminal). The hotel had a lovely lobby and the muffins for breakfast in the morning were good. The staff at the front desk did leave something to be desired, as none of them were friendly, nor did they smile at any point. The cleaning team were better. In general: nice hotel, good location, could have been a lower price but then it is NY!

I took my daughter and daughter in law to NYC for Fall Break and we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. A lot of space in the room and great location. We had 2 twin beds in the main bedroom and one twin bed just inside the door. Odd, but it worked. It is an older hotel and has a lot of charm, but you will miss the modern comforts most are use to. Beds were a bit hard but we were so tired each night we could sleep on a rock. Bathroom is small but clean. Elevators and halls were stuffy but the rooms were comfortable. It was about 10 blocks to Times Square but the taxi fare was afortable so some days we took a cab and some days we walked it. This is a good hotel for the money. I'd stay again and I'm sure I will.
