The Winterhaven Hotel was a really sweet hotel. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are a little small, but the bathroom is a nice size and so is the closet space. The best part about this hotel is the location. We walked to every restaurant and clubs and shopping. Also, at the hotel they give you discounted drink tickets which is a big help. They also provide a continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day, very helpful if you are on a budget. Really enjoyed my stay!!!!!

Nice hotel. Easy and convienient check in. Only problem was when you book your trip as a package, they need a credit card of some type including a* hold. Which we were not told ahead of time. So budget accordingly. Nice lobby, staff was very helpful. Room was decorated nicely, but beware....rooms, well my room was very SMALL. If you are traveling with only two guest and you select the standard room, it is a very tight space. Location was great tho. close to shopping, dining and the beach. Also, our room was located on the 6th floor, right off of the elevator which mad tons of noise. so if your room is right next to the elevator, have them change it immediately!!!! Other wise, nice.

My wife and I were here for 3 days scoping out the city thinking if we should relocate to Miami. Since we were going to Miami, decided to stay close to the beach. The location is great if you want proximity to beach, restaurants, bars and party life. If you have kids with you this may not be for you. The rooms are small, but from the looks of every hotel in the area, those are too. The staff was friendly and helpful. Parking is an issue in the whole Miami beach area. If you plan to explore outside of Miami beach area and rent a car, be prepared to pay $30 or more for parking. All restaurants in the surrounding area are expensive so be prepared. Everything is walking distance. Beach--across the street. Bars--all over. Clubs--3 or 4 blocks away. Some people may find it noisy but hey you are in the middle of Miami, what do you expect? Bars close at 5 am so there are always people and cars going around. If you are planning to just sleep in the hotel and be out and about most of the day. This place is great. If you like to hang in the hotel room in bed a lot watching tv, this may not be your cup of tea. The shower is for one person and the water pressure is low. This is not a complaint for me just letting people know. Personally my wife and I liked it and would stay here again.

Friendly staff, great location. Rooms were a bit small and outdated. The hotel was located on Ocean Drive, the most popular strip in South Beach. It was the art deco style and the beach was just across the street. The weekends in South Beach are quite lively and loud, so be prepared for that.

Our superior room was small, as hotel rooms of the 30s were built, but it was renovated at the turn of the century and the bathroom was sparkling a new. Windows were double glazed, which kept out some of the late-night sound. The lobby is an art-deco jewel, and the breakfast (set out on the small lobby bar) was far more than the promised "continental." It had make-your-own waffles, the usual bagels and English muffins, and truly outstanding coffee. Bistro 1401 next door is an upper-decent place for dinner, and the hotel's rooftop deck (no pool) is a quiet and relaxing place to read, with a wonderful view of the beach and back over the city. Front-desk personnel were friendly and accommodating.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was horrible, it smelled of rotten feet and there was a fungus in the bathroom with @ 4" long stems which had grown from the wall to the ceiling and a brown goo had begun to ooze down the wall. The staff did wipe the area down when it was pointed out to them. The chairs which are provided at a cost to you each day are not chairs similar to those used to lie on the beach they are only of the sit-down type and you are charged if you use them or not. As for the wonderful ocean view, the windows on the side of the hotel were so dirty that we could barely see the hotel across the street which, was under renovation, which started each day around 8:00 am. This renovation comes complete with all of the sounds of a complete construction site. And lastly there is a rather large number of homeless persons that you will be forced to deal with as you make your way to the beach.

My husband and I stayed at they Winterhaven from March 2 - March 6 2009. The hotel is located in the perfect area - right across the street from the beach and within short, short distance of all the happening spots, restaraunts, shopping etc. The hotel has a friendly staff. We didn't meet one unkind person and the service was wonderful. I only wished I had taken the time to get everyone's names. Everyone was wonderful!!!!!! While the rooms were a little small (we didn't care) the bed was just perfect. Probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The breakfast bar in the morning was a pleasant surprise. It was nice to be able to go downstairs to get my first cup of coffee without having to travel a distance. Sitting on the porch, relaxing and people watching was one of my favorite activities. Like I said, the location is perfect. I would have liked to have been able to stay at a more expensive hotel but with our budget this was more than perfect. I'd definitley stay there again and save the extra cash for eating and shopping. Thank you Winterhaven!!!!!

We loved this hotel. It's delightful with it's original artdeco details all around the facade and lobby/reception/bar area. The location is perfect! Just in the hottest part of South beach but not so in it that you hear late night party noise in your room. The people watching from the veranda on Ocean drive is amazing! The proximity to the beach is absolutely outstanding, this hotel made for a perfect winter getaway for us. Feels like the room was somewhat recently redone. We had a nicer than expected view in the king bed/partial ocean view room. Modern reproductions of deco era details in the lighting and fixtures were nice. We liked the safe and the robes, very comfortable bed. Water pressure was a little lame in the shower and being on 14th st. we got a wee bit of street noise, but it's south beach, so not unexpected. One dresser drawer wanted to open on its own, which was just a little irritating, but beyond that the room was comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast was pretty good, the coffee was really delicious! The little front veranda on Ocean dr. with cafe tables is wonderful day and night. Nice touch, the valet guys get the door for you while you carry your breakfast out into the morning sunshine. We appreciated the free wifi and enjoyed a few of the mini bar goodies and really liked the very Miami lime coconut bath and body products. It was nice to have free beach chairs and towels and Mirabel the bartender makes an amazing mohito.

I went on this trip with my husband. At first sight of the hotel we got the wrong impression that our stay there was going to be terrible. However, after the check-in we saw the room was not that bad: clean sheets and bathroom, and comfortable bed, but on the other hand the worn-out and dirty carpet and the fact that there was no tub did bother us at first but then you don't really care if you are not going to be much in the room. The beach is only a 2 min walk away. Staff was not that friendly. Restaurants as other reviewers have indicated before, are rather pricey, in fact higher than some Manhattan exclusive clubs, but you can go to Espanola Way for very good Italian and Mexican food and music. If you take the Duck Tour make sure you don't take one of the early ones in the day as there will only be a handful of people, for obvious reasons, and not that much fun. Last reminder, if your arrive am, be prepared to hang around until 3pm; you cannot check in any earlier. All in all, this hotel was good value for money.

My Husband ans I went for a "weekend get away" to Winterhaven and had a very positive experience, we would definately stay again. When we got there we had some confusion of the room that we booked, thinking that we had a roof top room, I called the front desk and the attendant said come on down and get key to look at the room and if you like it better you can switch. I really appreciated him letting us do that because the Oceanview room that we had was a better view and we kept it. The staff was very helpful with places to go and things to see in Miami and the bartender mixed up a great raspberry lime martini ! The rooms were very clean, bathrooms were clean and well stocked in a great location, close to a lot of great places to eat or go to the beach. I think the best seller for us though was the staff, everyone we came in contact with there provided a 5 star level of service.

This was a wonderful hotel to stay at, nice rooms, friendly staff. Accomodated us with an early check in. Directly on Ocean Drive across from the beach. Would definitely stay at again.

The staff at the Winterhaven Hotel were very courteous and friendly. The check-in process was handled efficiently and we were informed up front about the $7.50 daily charge that included 2 drinks, use of beach chairs, continental breakfast, and afternoon snack. The room was small, as to be expected with art deco hotels. My only complaint was that the air conditioner was quite loud and made falling asleep a challenge. The front patio was perfect for people watching.

We stayed at the Winterhaven in February and enjoyed our stay and the location very much. The hotel does not have a restaurant in the front so it was wonderful sitting on the porch people watching. Ocean Ave is the best and it ha so many places to eat just down the street. Watch out for the 2 for 1 free drinks at the near by restaurants. Our jumbo Mohito cost $25 but of course we got one "free." But only after finishing the first so two could not share. The roof top sun area was a nice, quiet retreat but the beach was also just across the street. The breakfast was good. It included make your own waffles. Yummy! Valet parking worked well. Street parking would have been almost impossible. The room was tight but the double beds very comfortable. The small bathroom was very clean. The closet was a nice size. A very positive experience in a small boutique hotel.

The hotel was in a great location. Very close to the beach and many dining options nearby. No pool. Pretty small room, but kind of nice. We were told at check-in that we had a partial oceanview. They neglected to tell us that you could only partially see the ocean if you pressed your head hard against the glass.
