Advisory: Mapquest continues to get the Wingate by Wyndham's driving directions wrong. However, the Wingate by Wyndham on Palm St. is on the Westside of Big Kahuna's theme park. Use their address, 1007 Highway 98 E Destin, FL 32541, to get you there (Palm St. is on the same side of the Highway, the Wingate by Wyndham on top of the hill).

This was a wonderful location, rooms were spacious and location to fun and beach was great. The staff was friendly, fun, helpful at all times.

Very clean. Needs a heated pool. Shuttle to beaches. We liked the hotel very much. Wish it had a shuttle to beaches and heated pool.

At first, I was a bit reluctant to step into the doors. But once I did I found it to be a great decision. The rooms were clean when we got there. The overall facility was great as there was a small pool with a hot tub, as well as a gym and a business center, fitted with two computers, a fax machine, and other office necessities(all of which i took full advantage). The staff was great. I really thought i would find at least one grouch, but not a single one there. One night, i was locked out of my room and they kindly provided me with a key. They also helped me mail a postcard. The free breakfast was delicious, especially the waffles. The atmosphere was modest, and quite, but still filled with a warm family centered air. The hotel is located within distance of any major attractions or hotspots in destin, such as Big Kahuna's Waterpark beside it. Within walking distance of shopping centers(tried it but i would not recommend crossing big Destin roads, as they are full of fast traffic). Only inconvenient thing was that the room service would only clean up where none of our stuff was. Anything else was off limits to them. Overall, loved the service and the place. Will most likely return.

Usually when we travel to Destin for vacation, we book beach front hotels, but times are tough and we needed to save as much as we can. Though this wasn't a beach front hotel, everything worked out great! We were only 2 minutes away from the public beach, which was beautiful and so easy to get to. It was an affordable price, great accommodations, and literally in the middle of restaurants and shopping. We would definitely come back to this hotel during our next visit to Destin.

this was our second spring break stay at the wingate. the hotel is clean, the price affordable, and the free hot breakfast is great. the breakfast consists of breakfast breads, cereals, sausage, eggs/omelets, belgian waffles, fruit, and coffee and juice. hot water is available for instant oatmeal. the breakfast is great! the hotel staff is excellent, anytime we needed anything it was brought to us promptly. the maid service was okay...if you leave anything personal on any furniture item in the room that item will not be cleaned...which i can kind of understand, but if a sock is left on the bed and therefore the bed is not made, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. we did have that issue and made sure we moved all of our belongings so the beds would be made. my husband and i did use the fitness center, the elliptical machine works, but the time and programs could not be set, so i had to use it manually. check in and out were flawless. i booked online and requested a ground level room, which was accomodated. my child enjoyed the pool, the hot tub was nice. the public beach access is less than 5 minutes away by car. we always enjoy our stay at the wingate and will return.

we have stayed here both times we have been to Destin and we will still choose it over the other local choices because it is so nice over all...for those of you with kids, it is right next door to the waterpark (which looks fun!)

I liked the location. It was near local retail merchants. Easily accessible and close to main highway. The one thing I did not enjoy was the fire alarm low battery indicating kept beeping all night long. Also 3 pillows for a king size bed. It was a typical room, nothing spectacular. There was only 3 pillows for the king size bed; subsequently lead to restless night. Not to mention the smoke alarm low battery indicator kept going off every 5 minutes.

the hotel was clean, a small but sufficient complimentary breakfast, the staff was friendly, it was on small side street so none of the main street noise was a problem, if you're looking for a lost cost option and you don't mind a 5 minute drive to the beach then this place is great!

Internet connection. Dirty carpet. The carpet in the room was badly stained and looked dirty. This is the only complaint that I have about our stay. We were on the first floor and there must have been a family with young children on the second floor. The running of kids the first morning woke us up. That night they were still running. We told the desk clerk and he said he would speak to them. We never heard another sound. Thank you, desk clerk. The internet connection was perfect.

This we my third time staying at this hotel, and it was better than I remember. The room was very comfortable and the AC was great!! It stayed very cool in our room despite the hot temperatures outside. The hotel was in the middle of everything. We were right in between the outlets and the Boardwalk. We had the best of both worlds. The staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Very Clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Being able to hear the room next to ours microwave going off. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was not overpriced and was comfortable for the night we were there. The only thing that I did not like was that I did wake up to hearing people talking in the room next to us and a microwave going off. It seemed as though there was not enough insulation between the rooms. That was a little disturbing. But I would definitely stay here again and tell others about it.

Complimentary breakfast was great! There was a kid running on the floor above and woke us at 6:30 a.m. Wonderful! One of the best I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at a bunch!
