This hotel is ok. The hot tub was out of order. My mattress was uncomfortably soft and made my back hurt. The staff was helpful. The rooms and public areas were clean and breakfast was good and a welcome benefit.

The location wasn't the best and the address for the hotel did not register on Google Maps or Yahoo Maps, which made it a little difficult to locate. There weren't a lot of other guests, so it was quiet inside. There is a restaurant in the same parking lot (Quaker Steak) that had a live band on Friday and Saturday night. Unfotunately, we were facing the restaurant and could hear them until it was over. A weird smell was on the 4th floor, but nothing pervasive. The hotel appears new and clean. The best part was the continental breakfast- waffles, french toast, eggs, bacon, ham...great selection! I would stay again, if not staying beach-side.

We were headed to a Tampa Bay game and needed a hotel that was near the ballpark and Tampa International. This was a very good choice indeed. All other hotels in the St Petersburg area and near the beach were way overpriced. The Wingate was a short 10 minute drive to Tropicana Field and 20 minute drive to TPA. Beware--there is construction going on in front of the hotel and was a little confusing on how to get in and out. Theroom and bathroom was very spacious. We were pleasantly suprised to see a fridge and a microwave. Much to our delight, there is a Quaker Steak & Lube within walking distance of the hotel. Since we live a short drive to the original QS&L in Sharon, PA, it was nice to have a little taste of home. The continental breakfast is largeer than most, but they need to begin their food line on the left, right after the coffee service. As it stands now, everyone begins to the left to get their coffee, but the plates, muffins, bread, waffles, cereal services begin on the right, which means there's a jam in the middle of the line. We would definitely stay here again.

Being new to the area I was not aware of how far this hotel was from the beach. So if you are planning on spending most of your time at the beach you may want to stay closer. But the hotel itself was very clean and the staff was very helpful.

Room very clean. Nice continental breakfast. Location close to major streets. No safety issues. 15 or so min. from beach. Very pleased with this hotel stay.

The hotel was fine. We mentioned to the staff that the towels were dirty, there was a cigarette burn in the blanket on the bed that was never changed, and the safe never worked. None of these items were corrected.

The location of this hotel is not very nice but it was clean and comfortable. A good value for the price we paid.

I really appreciated the professional mannerisms expressed by the front desk staff members; the chamber staff, building maintenance and restaurant staff presented themselves as efficient, very well groomed in appearance, and extremely mature in performing their responsibilities.

It's just a basic 1-2 star hotel, lousy views, bagel breakfast. We stayed at the Doubletree our last vacation night and it is rated 3 star but is probably 10 times nicer.

Overall we were very pleased with the Wingate. The exceptionally large room had everything we would need, even a microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast has a nice variety, even make-your-own waffles plus other hot items and real (not plastic) dishes. It was convenient to where we needed to be and the area quiet, one of my main objectives when staying at a hotel. Only complaint would be the soft mattress, not enough bed pillows (only two and they were somewhat worn out), and only two sets of towels in the bathroom.

Very nice for the corporate traveler. Not really a family friendly place. Odd location, very industrial" but up and coming area. Room was nice size and plenty of parking. Quiet hotel in a quiet area. Not much in immediate vicinity but lots about 5-10 minutes away."
