Very good place to stay in Alexandria. I like it, and so do my family

The Windsor Palace in Alexandria was a most welcome change after four nights in a Cairo budget hotel and two nights of roughing it on the sleeper train. The decor sets a perfect tone: impressive scale with high, high ceilings, rich draperies, large artworks and mirrors, gilded frames and moldings, and unlike most of Egypt, clean and not in need of fresh paint. The staff was very courteous and efficient, and command of English ranged from sufficient to fluent. Individual safe deposit boxes (two locks and keys, just as in a bank) were available at the front desk for cash, passports, etc. Nice after wearing a money belt for a week. In addition to hotel personnel in the lobby, there was at least one uniformed Tourism and Antiquities Police officer in the lobby, usually two more in a booth outside, and I believe another plain-clothes officer in the lobby. We took two rooms for three people. Strangely, to a Westerner, the room with the huge bathroom, bidet and extra-long tub, had twin beds, while the room with the king-sized bed had a modest bathroom with a shorter-than-standard tub fitted with a shower. I think most Western couples traveling with children would prefer it the other way around. There were a few minor things (sluggish bathtub drain, de-railed traveler cord for curtain) easily overlooked, and the overall impression is one of grandeur and luxury. The hotel is across a busy street from the Eastern Harbor, and our balcony had a partial view of the harbor and the Mediterranean Sea. We did not use the health club, which is about ten miles away on the only beach in the area which allows women on the beach in swimsuits. I asked about availability of computers for internet access, and was told that they had a business center, but it was down at the moment due to technical difficulties.

Breakfast was aweful - the restaurant manager seemed incapable of seeing that food and juice had run out on both mornings we stayed there. Generally a good hotel, but a few nudges would make it excellent.

The Windsor Palace is a great hotel and excellent value for money. The staff were very attentive but not to the poing of being annoying. The rooms were very clean and in excellent order. Only compliant was low shower pressure.

This elegant hotel is right on the cornish in Alexandria. While it is a period hotel, I found it to be very nice with a staff that were very helpful. I really enjoyed my stay there and the next time I will be in Alexandria it will be my first choice.

Ask for a seaside room. A little noisy but a beautiful view. Good location. Charming elevators and elaborate interior. I plan to stay there again.

The hotel staff is very friendly and attentive. The location and views from the roof are unbeatable. The rooms are, however, ageing, although comfortable and spacious.

We booked a sea front room and the view of the Med, was breathtaking. We were prepared for the road noise and it was worth it for the location. My wife had a birthday dinner on the sixth floor restaurant and the management provided a cake and personal service.I believe this hotel tries hard a achieves a lot. Would return there in a flash. Thank you , no problems in recommending this hotel. M&J B, Mallabula, Australia
