What a GREAT place to stay while in Melbourne, the history of the building is very very interesting, well worth doing.

It will be perfect if there is fan in bathroom. Other than that, it is a great great place to stay. I will definitely consider to live there again next time in Melboune.

This is a hotel where they know how to look after their guests.

Thw Windsor Hotel seemed a little "tired" when last we stayed there. What used to be the Grande Dame of Melbourne Hotels feels a little geriatric and is need of a good makeover. Mind you - high tea is still a fabulous experience in a marvellous dining room - a great Australian luxury!

Absolutely stunning hotel. Could not fault the service, especially at the door and at reservation desk. Concierge were of most help and nothing was ever a problem. Will definately stay there again!!

This is a hotel that brings with it the tradition and heritage of the Gold Rush years. Every detail is exquisitly so, right down to afternoon tea room, telephone booths and Powder Room for ladies. Service is second to none, staff (Concierge in particular)want and know how to be of assistance; take the time to personalise any service response. Located opposite Parliament House, very close to Metro station (Parliament), across the road from the Treasury Park, walking distance to Federation Square and Victoria Markets, several metres from tram stop and in the heart of the City, makes this a really good choice for access to the best that Melbourne has to offer. When you walk out the front door you feel as though a bit of Old Melbourne has brushed off onto you and it puts a spring in your step.

The room we stayed in was very run down. The bathroom had stained walls and mould around the bath. No one greeted us when we were in the lobby except a very pleasant doorman. We asked for a non smoking room and the walk in robe smelled of cigeratte smoke. Except for the lobby this hotel was not as stylish as I expected.

Very impressed with first impressions but clenliness of the bathroom floor was below par and the robe supplied was solied on the right sleeve. Otherwise the service from all the staff was excellent.

We stayed at the Windsor for two nights over the AFL Grand Final weekend. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. The room we had was very tired "old in need of an update" the bed was close to the door and you could hear everyone who walked past. Would have been a great hotel in its day but its in need of a make over.

Although this hotel will be undergoing renovations at a later date, hence the tied appearance of the bathrooms and some armchairs the hotel I couldn't fault the service or the meals and will definitely be staying there again - can't wait for when they get the go ahead for the renovations.

Classic, elegant, comfortable, central and historic. No gimmicks, noise or fuss.

The Hotel is in a great location and is very charming. These are the main reasons for staying there. The standard rooms are ok but not brilliant for the price.

The Windsor is ideal for those travellers who want their hotel to reflect some of the old fashioned values of days gone by. Comfortable rooms well furnished in the style of our European heritage, quality linen, pillows, and soft furnishings, and also the internet connections one expects. Breakfast cooked to perfection (even with dine-in services the poached eggs are perfect), and a staff that is confident in their skills to build relationships with guests - friendly, professional and personal. Nothing is too much trouble for the considerate front and back of house staff, and your personal and individual needs will be catered for, willingly and quickly. Food in the restaurant is excellent, and good value for money, although the price of wine per glass is just a tad over the top. A hotel to return to time after tome and know that you will be remembered! Staff do their homework and the hotel is particulalrly friendly to lone travellers on business.

Wll appointed, good location and friendly, efficient and flexible service. I wonder whether there are incentives to re visit on a semi regular basis?

Stayed 2 nights in Superior Room. Liked high ceilings, disliked frosted windows that prevented one from looking out (obviously view would not have been pleasant). Asked for (free) late check out at 1:30pm but was only granted 12:30pm despite off season. Would I stay there again: yes, but would ask for room with clear window (with view)

The service was exemplary. From the personalised greeting from the doorman on our arrival, through the friendliness of the maid right up to the excellence of the desk staff. I cannot recommend the venue highly enough. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

The only reason I rated cleanliness as average was due to the cigarette smell in the room. Otherwise it was very good. I did not book or ultimately pay for the accommodation so I can't comment too much on price. My short stay was fine. Good friendly service.

One of the great heritage hotels of the world with true old world charm. Well positioned at the end of Bourke Street it is in walking distance of most tourist attractions and shopping. Trams available just outside the hotel. For the money probably the best value in Australia.

Amazing staff from the moment you get out of the cab at the front door to the time you leave. Beautiful old hotel with lots of charm. Thin walls so lots of noise and our room was very noisy.

My stay at the Windsor was delightful from go to whoa. When I arrived at Reception and asked for 'The Age' to be delivered to my room each morning, I was told 'for you, anything' - what a lovely start to my trip, which was to see the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. I found all the staff to be extremely helpful, they used my name wherever they could and they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and happy. My room was perfect for one with beautiful toiletries supplied, the pillows I prefer and everything I could need. I suspect it would be a bit too small for a couple.
