Surrounding Location:
We are the closest major hotel to the Los Angeles Convention Center and STAPLES Center. The hotel is surrounded by some of Los Angeles’ finest dining cuisine covering all aspects of multi-culture that makes L.A. so unique. Directly across the hotel you will find unique retail stores, boutiques and major department stores such as Macys. Within walking distance is the new theatre district including the new Walt Disney Concert Hall and numerous theaters where there are sounds of Broadway Musicals, live theatre, and numerous special events. And within just minutes is the Mark Taper Theatre and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Other places of interest that are just steps from the hotel include the popular Garment District, the Jewelry District, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Union Station and USC, just to name a few. If a star sighting is on your agenda, you can jump on the Metro directly across the hotel and be in Hollywood in less than 15 minutes. You can also take Metro right to the gates of Universal Studios Theme Park and City Walk. Within 20 minutes of the hotel you’ll also find the La Brea Tar Pits, Santa Monica Pier and Promenade, and LAX. So, what are you waiting for – come stay, work and play in Downtown L.A!

This hotel is across the street from both a subway and bus stop. It is in the financial district but it is easy to get into the touristy bits of LA. We took the double decker tourist bus one day, the subway another and did a tour of LA that included hotel pick up/drop off. This hotel was not the standard that I expected. It was old and although I'm sure it has been renovated felt unkept for some reason. The staff were not friendly, helpful or approachable. The wifi wouldn't work for me. The Macy's down the street is not a main Macy's. There are quite a few little eateries around. Staples Centre is about a 5-10 minute walk.

Location. Hallways were a bit worn. Terrific staff, very helpful. Wonderful location. Easy access to buses, the Metro.

Very nice hotel, service and great location. For this price I will stay definitely again.

This was probably a nice hotel about 15 years ago, but it's quite obvious there have been absolutely no improvements or upgrades since then. I had to stay here because the conference I was attending was at this hotel. First, the parking - 30 a night! I know parking in downtown Los Angeles can be pricey, but when you consider it costs half that to park at the building across the street, something is amiss. Then there's the rooms. A room with a king bed is the size of a broom closet. Are we in Europe or something? The walls are tissue paper thin and I could hear the baby crying all night in the room next door and the rowdy people talking until 2 a.m. on the other side. The room was freezing - the air conditioning and heating were not working, so I had to ask for extra blankets. The shower barely had a trickle. And the bathroom had very poor lighting. The smoke detector' s light was flashing all night my first night there and the tv remote did not work. All of the restaurants in the hotel are very, VERY pricey. The most moderately priced one closes at 2 p.m. and there aren't exactly a lot of cheap restaurants open in downtown after 5. The concierge was useless - they couldn't even tell a tourist how to get to USC, which is just up the street. (I had to tell the poor guy) I am a Los Angeles native and I know there are a bazillion hotels in Los Angeles that are comparably priced and are way better than the Wilshire Grand. Any one of them would be an improvement.

We were very disappointed with the condition of the rooms, including the bathroom, at the Wilshire Grand. We would not rate this hotel more than ***, and only because of the common areas. We will not stay here again.

Friendly staff. Rooms in GREAT need of repair/new decor. Tearing wallpaper, dingy decor in major need of overhaul. Safe & overall friendly.

The room we had was very very pokey and average for the price we paid per night, but the location for us was great for what we needed to do -

This hotel is located RIGHT BESIDE the metro station- very convenient for travel in and around LA. Parking is an extra 30 a day so don't bring a vehicle here, shopping areas nearby and Morton's Steakhouse is right across the street. Only 2 pillows are given and the walls are thin. No airport shuttle either- you'll have to pay for that additional also. "

Hotel was clean, hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was terrific for me (close to Metro, bus lines, and the conference I attended). The price was also reasonable.

Location, cleanliness, friendly service. No coffee in room, burned out lightbulbs, closed restaurant. Here is a hotel that could be dynamite! There were many things provided in the room for our convenience except coffee. Lovely room and great view. It was clean, comfy beds, wonderful shower! The quarters were extremely tight in there, however, and for what we paid, I would expect to be able to walk around more easily. Breakfast was sensational except it was way to expensive in this economy. One could never eat $18.95 worth of breakfast. Per couple would have been so much appreciated. Being that there are many more hotels available, we will try somewhere else next time.

The Wilshire Grand was an excellent and safe location in downton Los Angeles. It was much better than I expected for the price, and I would stay there again and tell friends about it.

If you are choosing hotels in Downtown LA according to the price, add additional 30 dollars to your budget if you plan to drive your car there. The facility is Old, and the walls are thin. If you already make an reservation, try to be there earlier (before 11 p.m). Otherwise you may not have a chance to find a cheaper parking spot near the hotel.Try other major hotels!

Great Location if you have the need to be downtown, great restaurants. Room was very small considering their write up says Spacious, Well-Appointed rooms, the curtains were falling off the track, the bathroom was extremely small, the sink dripped all night, the hallway smelled bad and was poorly lit, the toilet was in the most unusual spot (cut into the counter) but there was phone in the bathroom. I have stayed in nicer rooms for less money.

Location is good. Classiness of lobby/exterior not matched by rooms. Rooms are old fashioned - blankets are a thing of the past - should be replaced by nice clean duvets. Tea/coffee facilities should be standard in each room. Breakfast is very good but pricey. Bar prices at 7.50 USD for a bottle of Bud are disgraceful.

Except that we had a slight delay in checking in due to some one had spelt my name incorrectly all went well. Good hotel for value

We liked the hotel, but the price to park is outrageous!!! $35 a day to valet park (that is all there is, no self parking). If we stay there again, then we will use the light rail or subway to get to the hotel from the car. The 7th street Metro rail entrance are right across the street. The room was nice, and clean, very comfortable bed.

Spacious, well laid out and comfortable rooms. Our room was at the end of an endless corridor. Good location for business travel, spacious rooms (each with two baths), quiet, good working space, walk to all downtown business centers, walk to Staples Center and (if you're a good walker) to the Disney Concert Hall.

Not enough wall insulation - awakened at 4am by people in adjacent room then again by alarm clock at 8am.
