We stayed in Whites City a few years ago. Didn't remember much about the room. I remember that our daughter played for a while at the "water park", we slept, ate the free breakfast and left. We were there to visit the caverns and this was convenient. This time it was no longer a Best Western and is now listed as the Whites City resort. The price was for a double room with breakfast!! The room was filthy. The toilet had urine on the rim-obviously had not been cleaned properly in sometime. There were hairs on the floor and shower walls. The towel rack and been pulled out at some point and someone had stuffed a paper towel in the hole rather than repair it. The bathtub had jets. Most of the plastic jets were broken and I was pretty sure that it would have been unsafe to use had they worked. When I unmade the bed there was a hair on the pillow. The only reason I didn't push to leave was that I had been at Boy Scout camp for a week and just didn't care about anything but sleep. The breakfast was passable and the service was fine, but we will never stay in White's City again. We'd rather stay in a clean room and drive 20 miles. The price was ridiculous for the quality of the room.

Room had 2 Queen beds, both need to be replaced. Wallpaper is coming off the wall. Bathroom needs major remodeling! But the worst was not being able to control our rooms air conditioning! We like our room cold, not warmish. The room had a peculiar smell that we couldn't figure out what it was. Water park consist of 2 slides, 1 of which you have to help push yourself down. Other slide is nice. Pool was fine. We paid for 1 night. Stay in Carlsbad & get a better deal for half the price. We saw many motels, breakfast included, for about to a night. Much better deal, plus you have a Walmart & many fast food restaurants to choose from. Whites City has none of these. Do yourself a favor & stay in Carlsbad & avoid Whites City like the plague! ! ! !

This hotel may have been OK in the 1960's, but they stopped keeping it up years ago. It is sadly outdated. It appeared deserted when I stayed there midweek, and the lighting in the parking lot was non-existent. The rooms were very hard to find because of the dim lighting. The rooms themselves were poorly maintained, stains in the bathtub and on the carpet, musty smell in the room. The air conditioning made plenty of noise but didn't seem to do anything else. The only restaurant on the property closed at 7:30 PM, and the next closest restaurant was 20 miles away. There was literally nothing to eat but stale vending machine merchandise. Actually, even finding the vending machine was tough due to the lighting. The "water park" is basically a swimming pool with a slide. The "boardwalk" was really hokey. The restaurant when it was open for breakfast has a menu with six items on it. The food was mediocre. The service was minimal, except for one really kind waitress. The only good thing I have to say about the hotel is that the water pressure in the shower was great. This hotel cost me 110. It was worth about 25. A big disappointment. Don't go- if you want to go to Carlsbad Caverns, which is really terrific, stay in Carlsbad.

I firts stayed here 8 years ago then it was a nice place. It is close to Carlsbad Caverns and that is about the only reson to stay here, there is nothing around Whites City but the cave. Carlsbad is a 20 mile drive on a 2 lane highway,so this was the best place to stay. The rooms and grounds were clean, the staff was frindly and the resterunt had good staff and service. I"d visit the caverns at least one time a year and all ways stay at Whites City. But this was the last time that I'll stay here. This place was a dump. The first room they put us in had no coffie maker or hair dryer and the TV didn't work. They moved us to a new room there was no plug for the bathtub.The water ran over the top of the sink when you ran it long enough to get hot water. These problems were never fixed. The staff was polite but not very helpful or friendly. The service at the resterunt was poor. After our order was taken it was 45 min befor we got our food. We were one of only three tables of diners in the room so they were not busy. The buldings and grounds are run down and in need of repair. Overall this was a bad experience. I can not recomend anyone stay at Whites City Resort.

Stayed 4 days. Only accommodations within 20 miles of Carsbad Caverns or 55 miles of Guadalupe Mountains. The room was surprisingly clean and well decorated. Although there is only one resturant, the prices were reasonable, the food was quite good, and the staff was great. Downsides: Lack of maintenance - all ice machines were inoperative and the air conditioner in our first room was extremely noisy (moved rooms the next night). Had to go to the office for ice (200 yards). Housekeeping needed more supervision - although room was cleaned well, the maid forgot to leave towels two days running. Grocery Store's prices were astronomical - 200-300% above those at Wal-Mart in Carlsbad. Shop there before going to White's City. Upside - extremely convenient to Carlsbad Caverns if you want to be on the trail at the opening bell and if you want to go back for the bat flight. Also a 30 minute drive from the phenomenal hikes in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Take good hiking boots and spend two days there!
