Was concerned when I first came after viewing the lobby that this was an old structure with no modern convieniences however was pleasently surprised when I saw my room. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. My wife loved the Euro decor. Some of the rooms looked extremely small and glad we did not have to take one of those.

The location was perfect. The bedding (pillows, blankets, etc.) Were very poor. We did not fell that this was a four star hotel. It needs some renovating and updating to fall into the 4 star categories. The location was excellent and the staff was friendly, but I don't feel it was anything near our expectations of a 4 star.

I have stayed at the Whitehall before and find it to be a wonderful alternative to the large hotel chains which seam soulless. The Whitehall is a charming oasis of calm.

The hotel was nice and clean. The location was great. It was only a couple of blocks down from the beach, 1/2 block down from the John Hancock Building, 1 mile to Navy Pier, 2 blocks to Magnificent Mile, 1 and 1/2 mile to Millenieum Park, etc.

Gorgeous bar and restaurant. Maintenance guy showed up immediately to fix room heat. Toilet area very cramped; had to put one leg in bathtub to sit down on toilet. (Yes, I am quite overweight.). Lovely hotel in beautiful location with very attentive staff and great valet parking. But be aware that bathroom although quite attractively decorated may be uncomfortably tight.

I asked the housekeeping department for additional soap and shower cap because the used one were thrown away by the cleaning lady. However, we wait for the whole night and it never came....I don't think a nice hotel should offer this kind of service. Internet is not for free...which is really a big disadvantage of this hotel. Otherwise, people working at lobby are really nice..

With the sole exception of one of the ladies at the concierge, which was very rude (even with her colleages at the recepcion), our stay in Chicago was great. The Whitehall hotel is excepcionally located and they have an outstanding price vs quality ratio. We received so many valuable tips from them that improved our visit: Driehaus museum, alternative arquitecture tour, segway, Prosecco restaurant... Only failed with the Blackbird restaurant recommendation, which we found too average for its price...

The location was great. Our shower broke, took 1 hour and 2 people to fix. The hotel was very nice. Great location. Some staff problems the day of check out.

The Whitehall is just a hop, skip and a jump away from all of the great sites to see in downtown Chicago. We just loved being able to walk to all of the places we wanted to visit. The hotel itself has very charming lounge areas to take advantage of as well.

Location, historic building, good views. Slow staff, room in some disrepair, expensive parking. This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at the Whitehall. I must say I was very disappointed with this latest experience. Upon our arrival, there was no bellman to greet us, or a parking attendant. My wife had to go inside the hotel, after waiting over 5 minutes to fetch someone to take the car. No one offered to help us with our bags as well. The front desk attendant was very friendly and efficient. When we arrived at our room, it was as requested, but it was a smoking room, and smelled like an ashtray. I had requested a non smoking room. After a call to the front desk, this was quickly taken care of, and we were given a non smoking room, but with 2 queen beds instead of a king. We can deal with that. The room was very nice, and the bed was very comfortable. Our bathroom seemed to need repair, though. The pipes coming out of the wall from the toilet and the shower head dod not have the collars on them, and you could see through the wall, almost. Just cosmetic, but very unsightly. We then ran into another problem. While I was showering, there was a knick on our door from a maintenance man, saying our shower was leaking to the floor below. Luckily I was just finishing. The problem seemed to be corrected, as when we showered the next day, there was no call. Overall, we liked the hotel, but I expected more from a 4 star hotel.

The Whitehall Hotel in Chicago has a really good location. It is right off of Michigan Ave (great shopping) and Rush St (great bars and restaurants) The Sears Tower is only about 1.5 miles away - not a bad walk at all. The hotel staff were pretty friendly and accommodating. The concierge gave us VIP tickets to a really great jazz club on Rush St. It was a pretty clean hotel...small rooms and bathroom but pretty clean. The fitness center was pretty good too...nice machines and free weights. I think the best part of this hotel was the location. It is close to most everything.

the hotel is a quaint boutique hotel with tons of character and charm. The room was clean and large and the service was impecable. The location was perfect as it was right between Michigan Ave and Rush Street so you get the best shopping and dining/night life within a 3 minute walk. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there our next trip to Chi Town!

The comfort of the bed and bedding - down comforter and pillows. Great night sleep. This hotel had a friendly and knowledgable staff, beautiful, clean room, wonderfully comfortable bed, beautifully appointed bathroom even though it was a bit small. This older hotel has been the best kept-up historic hotel we've stayed in so far in the Chicago area. There was nothing wrong with our stay.

We had a small stream of water as a shower. The air conditioning didn't work; rooms were very humid and sticky. The hotel was still under renovation/restoration; it would have been nice to know this prior to booking this hotel. The staff at The Whitehall Hotel were very friendly, which is about all that I can say about my stay.

Extremely comfortable bed with beautiful, soft linens. No ice maker. Called for ice and took 30 minutes to be delivered. Convenient location, near several fun restaurants, very clean, lovely room with beautiful linens and soft feather bed. Very nice and helpful staff.

Great location! Super comfy bed and clean room/bathroom! Hotel staff was relatively unknowledgeable about local happenings (4th of July fireworks), directions, renting bikes and routes, etc., but were friendly and tried to be helpful at least.

The bed was so comfortable - I got a great night's sleep. The room was very nice, but on the smaller side. I really enjoyed my stay at the Whitehall and I would recommend staying there. It is very close to many things and the staffs were very friendly and accommodating. It was a great trip!

This was our first visit in Chicago, we didn't spend much time in the hotel. Very expensive for public parking. Hotel parking super expensive. I will look for another hotel next time.

Price and quality were great and so much better than driving home after the fireworks. No coffee maker in the room. Magnifying mirror didn't light. It was lovely; the bath. Small but nicely appointed the bed linens were very comfortable.
