Bedroom fine although sheets had holes in them. However, housekeeping had to be called to clean bath which appeared to have debris from a backed-up grey water drain in it.

Good quiet clean room at rear of hotel, attentative staff, friendly atmosphere. Breakfast due to start at 7.30, had to wait until 7.45 for service.

Too reminiscent of the 1970s.Staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was adequate but a bit fusty: there was a large stain in the middle of the carpet and although the shower itself was modern and worked well, the tiling behind it was dirty. Apart from breakfast (where there was no marmalade available) we did not eat in the hotel, but the bars and public rooms looked very good. Parking was a bit of a problem. We paid £5 to park in a public car park (with no security) which was a few minutes walk away, but because of the one-way system it took quite a long time to drive there.

Room window blasted by hot air from air-con outletsWe were given a room feet from an array of hot-air outlets from the air-con of the adjacent cinema. My 3-year old and I sweltered on one of the hottest nights of the year, unable to sleep. No fan available, though we asked. It got to the stage when it was no longer an issue of comfort but one of safety - not because of the heat of the weather but the additional heat of the air-con outlets blowing in our window. The hotel gave us a room with a sofa bed - still no fan, but at least away from the air-con outlets. In my view it is completely unacceptable for hotels without their own aircon to *not* have a £5 fan available for every room if needed. If not I hope they have enough personal injury insurance in future.

Short stay at historic White Swan hotelThis is a very interesting old building with winding narrow corridors and stairs. It was interesting to stay there. However my impression was that the hotel generally was short staffed; and the premises in need of refurbishment and a good clean. The reception had not read their E-mails and had no record of my booking when I arrived. And caught up with this after I gave them my printed booking details.I stayed in a room facing the Picture House ventilation system which was disturbingly noisy a lot of the time. The standard of the room otherwise was good and I would reccommend visitors to historic Stratford, this hotel for part of their experience.

Perfect Relaxing Night AwayGreat value for money, very attentive service. The all-night porter helpfully recommended the local bars etc. then served us great drinks all night when they were all closed! Great feeling about the place, very clean and well maintained rooms. Lovely breakfast with a choice of cooked or continental breakfast. Completely happy and highly recommended.

Theatre break awayThe locality of the White Swan Hotel is perfect for anyone wishing to experience all that Stratford has to offer. Parking was extremely close and accesable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recomend this hotel to anyone visiting the area as a base to explore

The place was clean with a really large double room. It was a good location, centrally located and a good price. The breakfast was continental (included) and was fine. Would stay there again

great locationvery well placed for exploring stratford and visiting theatre. Man on the desk was very nice and extremely helpful. Pull up outside the hotel to find out where the parking is! Its not actually next to the hotel. Breakfast was ok, no vegetarian alternatives. Service at breakfast not as good as service at main desk. Rooms are comfortable, hotel bar is lovely and building is full of character.

Surfing on reputationJust because you can offer a Tudor feel to your hotel, it doesn't mean you don't have to make any effort with your customers! The gentleman on duty in the reception was very polite but it clearly was only a facade since he didn't act on any of our requests but simply smiled and asked if everything was ok. Just like the hotel which was admitedly from the Tudor era but only the front part. It went far back with long newly axtended corridorrs and passages. Not for the old and frail. Breakfast poor. Most things on the continental buffet were finished and we had to ask them to fill up the table. We were not late but arrived during breakfast time. Crockery dirty. Other customers clearly annoyed as well regarding the lack of choice and service. No cups or mugs in the room or bathroom so had to use coffee cups for toothbrush mugs. Vwey noisey area of Stratford. At 2 am lots of racket outside window for about an hour. Only 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper left when we arrived. We run out of it and asked twice for another roll but nothing happened, so my husband had to go and find some bits of paper elsewere! An experience you don't exactly wish for when on holiday.

Great little hotel in centre of Stratford, lots of charm without even trying! You enter this lovely old hotel, reputedly the oldest in Stratford, and are struck by the lovely period character of the entrance and dining area. The staff were friendly and keen to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. The quality of the food was good and I was particularly impressed with the home made scones served with high tea. The room was spacious and clean, though a little dated.Overall, a quality little hotel right in the heart of the town.

Comfy and cleanMy room was comfortable, clean and adequately equipped. I thought I'd booked B&B but it turned out to be room only which was pricey at £85 per night. Super bathroom. Had a noisy second night due to live jazz in dining room beneath my room which was not mentioned. This is a perfectly comfortable hotel, but a little on the expensive side for what it actually offers.

Lovely hotel - shame about the noisy ventI really liked the White Swan. Nice place, firendly staff and excellent location. However, the stay was seriously marred by a loud ventilation unit right outside our window. It fired up briefly in the evening (not a problem) but then kicked in fully at 7am and kept going for hours. It was impossible to sleep, spoiling any lie-in I might have wanted. I'd advise any would-be punters to check out their room location in advance.

Characterful night in Shaekspeare's StratfordThe White Swan was a cracking venue, very much what one would expect from a hotel set in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon.

nice and comfortablewe thought the swan was nice and clean, and reasonably comfortable. had a bit of a struggle getting to our room that was on the top floor at the far end of the hotel. we had to meander up several stairs, half a dozen doors and twists and turns. but we enjoyed our stay there and found the bar area to be relaxing by the log fire. we would stay here again.

An excellent stayThe White Swan is in an excellent location. At the heart of Stratford, it's no more than a brisk ten minute walk away from the Courtyard Theatre or a pleasant stroll by the riverside. There are scores of shops, pubs and eateries close by, as well as a number of the main Shakespeare attractions. The railway station is close by and there is a bus stop yards away, from where you can catch the bus to Leamington Spa and Warwick. As a single room, mine was quite small but had pretty much everything I expected it to have. As someone with no sense of direction, it did take me a while to find my room, which was up several flights of stairs and up and down a number of corridors, but there were plenty of signs to follow. My room didn't have a view, but its location at the back (I think it was the back - again, no sense of direction!) of the building and at the end of a corridor next to a fire escape meant it was the quietest room I've ever had and I didn't get woken up by passing traffic either inside the hotel or out on the road. The continental breakfast was very nice (can't comment on the cooked breakfast as I didn't try it), the staff were all very friendly, the room was always well cleaned and all in all I enjoyed my stay there and would be happy to go back again.

On arrival we waited 15 minutes in reception before anybody turned up to enable us to check in.The room needs updating and was definitely not worth £85 !!!
