Loved the place, will always come back to this hotel. Rooms are nothing special but you only sleep there. Staff great, beach great, bar great, food okay but lots of good food in both directions walking down the beach.

This was the worst hotel!

Excellent location near the beach without all the noise, clean rooms and friendly staff.

Very clean and nice beach access. Very busy street. I would definitely stay there again.

I recently stayed at White Sands in the Garden rooms which are across the road from the beach side rooms. The location on 7 mile beach is perfect, its about middle ways. The room was clean and spartan, no frills, but then you didn't pay for frills. Things I liked- very low noise in the area, (mostly just the birds was all I ever heard at night) it is set back far away from the road enough to not hear the crazy taxi's zipping up and down the road and blowing their horns. A lot of privacy, and no transient traffic through the property because it is walled and there was no where to cut through and go to from the property anyways. They employee several guards/grounds people, so safety was never considered an issue. The staff was friendly and easy to get along with. beach side bar was nice to have as well as a short order sized grill for meals (we only ate breakfast there, but I would recommend breakfast at Normas, located just north of there on the beach) Things I didn't like- No safety deposit box in the room, and the bed I had felt more like box springs than an actual mattress, it was one of the worst beds I have slept on in a hotel. But we were only there 3 nights so I toughed it out. Overall for the price i don't think you can go wrong with these accommodations, if the bed was up to standard par I would give them 5 stars of satisfaction. i would stay here again if I could get a suitable bed.

This is my third time to the White Sands and I will be back. I love the location, the friendly staff, and the beach! It's just perfect if you aren't a picky traveller. You are in one of the most beautiful places in the world- just enjoy it! The rooms are very basic- we were never in our room anyways.

The staff was always very polite, friendly and helpful; the location, in proximity to our interests, was very practical. No telephones or any other provision for communication, with their office or anywhere else, in the event of an emergency; the place is spread out. You would get the distinct impression that they have perfected the art of providing, minimally. Most of the bed sheets and towels, that were provided to us, should be discarded. The rooms, though quite large, has absolutely nothing but a small rusting fridge, two bedside tables and single and double beds.

White Sands is a great value with a friendly staff. Its a no frills resort, but the room was clean. No clock, no radio, no tv, nothing. Basically, two tiny beds and a bathroom. Which worked for me because I didnt travel all the way to Jamaica to sit in a hotel room and watch tv. White Sands Hotel is steps away from beautiful seven mile beach.

In my opinion, the White Sands is a real find for people who like to have a fun vacation without spending a zillion dollars. It is a simple place but meets all the needs of someone who is coming to the Caribbean to hang out on the beach and soak up the sun and atmosphere. It is not luxurious but adequately appointed and very clean. The location is fantastic, on the best part of the beach, and within easy walking distance of good restaurants and bars. Our room was on the gardenside, across the road from the beach - which I would recommend. The gardenside rooms are set in very nice gardens and the grounds are well-maintained. The beachside rooms don't have a view of the water, they actually overlook the driveway. We had a nice patio and it was peaceful, quiet and just what we had in mind. I am astonished to find a place this nice, for this price anywhere in the tropics - let alone on the Seven Mile Beach. We will definitely be back!

This was perfect because it had no phone or television. It was nice to get away from the hectic NYC lifestyle for one week. The room was spacious and calming. Although the air conditioner didn't work, there was a nice balcony to cool off. It's right on the beach and there are attractions just a cab ride away.

Good value, beautiful beach, eating in restaurants on the beach $10 - $20 per person, grocery store next door, motorcycle rental next door. In the middle of 7 mile beach - nice walk both directions.

White Sands is in an excellent location It's literally less than 1 min from the beach!!! We (my boyfriend and I) stayed on the side of the street with the beach our room had an okay garden view. The staff is very friendly and helpful! The beach was BEAUTIFUL, the water was clear the beach was clean and I wasnt hasseled by the locals selling things like some of the other reviewers mentioned. The hotel has a bar and kitchen, we ate there for breakfast and had drinks throughout the day and they had great drink specials. There were all sorts of water activities offered along the beach that you can bargin for the price. There are many activities to do (ie tours, water sports, nite life) just ask the locals. You can also negotiate any and everything without cheating the seller. We went to The Jungle on Sat to party. I got crowed around 11:30/12:00. They had a great mix of contemp Hip Hop and Reggae and the basement was rockin with comtemp Reggae There drinks are good too. Compared to Montego Bay, Negril is laid back truely a great palce to vacation. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definetly return!!!

The trip was excellent the room and hotel were excellent but I do recommend bringing something along such as a portable DVD player as there are no TV's or Phones Or alarm clocks. the hotel has a great resteraunt and is not far from many local attractions and activities, I do recommend bringing along some DEET as there are mosquitoes but the trip was great and would go back the hotel even has its own bird atrium as well as an outdoor pool table by the pool but like I said there is only a fridge in the room so you really need to bring some thing to do for the down time!!!

The White Sands hotel is not recommended. The hotel is from start to finish not a good place to stay. They will charge you a view premium to be on the ocean side of the street. Our view consisted of looking at a vacant lot that had trash thrown in it. The A/C didn't work well at all (it was a window unit). The hotel would be suitable for spring break if you were just packing 4 people into a room and dont care what your room looks like at all. I would recommend spending the extra money and staying at a hotel that is nice so that you can enjoy the beautiful island.

My stay at White Sands was very good. I loved the fact that natives lived on the premises. They can be very helpful with directions and other assistance. It was quite and peaceful, loved waking up there. Very convenient to the beach. I will always try to stay at White Sands on my future trips to Negril. The experience was wonderful and I will be back.

Yes, you can stay at the bigger resorts and get more amenities but White Sands was a good. The beach is right across the road, the drink specials are reasonable (usually 2 for 6 and very good) and you can travel up and down the beach for other activities. We did not miss out on any activities and we only paid half the price of some of the bigger resorts. The only downside is that the bar closes at 10 and the little cafe closes at three. Security was wonderful (be sure to tip). There is a great little cafe (Selena's) down the road. And there is a guy who sells lobsters (delicious) and jerk chicken (yum!) right on the beach! We ate more for less by eating from the beach vendors. I would stay there again.

I really enjoyed my stay, but there were situations with other guest in the hotel. I will be picking a more secured hotel, but I will visit a couple of the housekeepers. He was the main porter who made sure i was safe.
