1925 was the official year for completion of the Canadian National Railway Station situated in the centre of what was eventually to be called the townsite of Jasper. Rail travel was glamorous in the 1930s and 1940s and Jasper National Park was among one of the most popular destinations for celebrities and movie stars of that era. As travel and trade increased, the small town of Jasper flourished into a town offering a Trading Post, Firehall, Post Office, General Store and Hotels. One of these Hotels, known back then as the Pyramid Hotel, grew and became what today is known as the Whistlers Inn Hotel.

Amenities provided by the Whistlers Inn include two fine restaurants, a charming pub offering light meals and eight varieties of ale on tap, three gift shops, a currency exchange, steam room and an outdoor rooftop hot tub. Parking and ski lockers are located on the premises. The Whistlers Inn is also home to the Den, Jasper's Wildlife Museum with realistically displayed wildlife in life-like habitats.

Banff is much more beautiful and sophisticaed than Jasper. But Whistler's Inn charges $154.98(Canadian dollar including tax), which is the highest of my stay in Seattle, Vancouver, Kamloops, Banff, and Jasper. No free breakfast is provided, no computers with free Internet access are provided, the room was small, the electric lights are dark and the position of bathroom is just beside the beds. Compared with its quality of software and hardware, the fare is unbelievably high. It gave me a bad image of Jasper as if they robbed me of my money just for the short vacation seasons.

Great central location. The room was clean and actually larger than I expected and the ensuite shower room was clean and bright. There was no view from the window. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. The attached restaurant was ok for breakfast. There are plenty of other places to eat nearby.

We were terribly disappointed with the parking situation at this hotel. They have around eight tiny spots available behind the hotel if you're lucky to get one. Otherwise, you have to park across the street in a public lot and cart your luggage across the street. The hotel is in a good location because shopping and restaurants are right outside your door.

Location, staff. Way over-priced, dingy hotel. Very raunchy hotel that is totally overpriced because of location.
