Description:
High quality, modern city-centre BandB in Rome. Very comfortable rooms each with a distinctive global theme and decor. All rooms include internet station and Wi-Fi, 24 hour reception, satellite TV, air conditioning, linen and laundry. We are a brand new budget hotel in Rome just a few minutes walk away from Termini Station and conveniently close to the archaeological and historical sites in and around the city centre. The property was recently inaugurated in March 2008. Each room represents a different continent and each item of decor hand picked to proffer a truly unique experience. When in Rome Accommodation takes pride in the finer details of hospitality and has worked hard to ensure that each room includes that personal touch which is difficult to find in many larger hotels. All rooms are equipped with a complimentary mobile phone (our guests only pay for call time consumed), air conditioning, satellite TV, linens, soaps, hair dryers and wireless internet access. Internet access is also available and free to use in the lobby. Some rooms have their own bathroom while others share a bathroom with one other.

Roman HolidayRather depressing entrance and cramped elevator to 5th floor accommodation in a building also housing a hairdressers, and provate dwellings /offices. We stayed in Asia room which was comfortable enough with a small Tv, balcony but shared bathrooms(2) amongst 3 other rooms. Not a problem really and never had to wait long to use facilities. Room was clean and had good air conditioning. Towels changed daily and breakfast was a voucher for coffee and a croissant at a cafe over the road.Accommodation is close to the main station and there are plenty of bars and restaurants around. Can really recommendRistorante Hostaria on Via Dei Mille (just around the corner, large blue Pizzeria sign) but don't go to Ristorante Alle Gupe on the way to the station - it's a real rip=off.

Interesting ExperienceStayed at this hotel for three days. Had a little difficulty finding the hotel, however the rooms were decorated very nicely and came included Satellite TV, air conditioning, a hair dryer, and a safe. This is very reasonable considering the low rate to stay as well as the proximity to Termini station. The staff helped out whenever we had questions, and the view was nice from the 5th floor. Overall first impressions left us worried, but the overall experience turned out to be great for two students traveling across Europe.Would definitely consider again.

very nice and clean rooms - we have a room with our own bathroom and balcony (India) and we were very satisfied - only one disadvantage is that you hear everything from the room which is next to you, so sometimes you have to wake up sooner than you plan

The room was what I was expecting for a low budget hotel. The reception staff were friendly but I stayed in the room just behind the reception and found that I could hear all that was happening in the hotel around me.

Location: The best part of the hotel was it very nearby to the Termini Station. The route to hotel is very straight forward. There is no display outside the hotel, so it might take some time to locate even if you are standing at the correct location. Ample food shops are there near by. Conveyance is no problem. Space: The hotel has a good concept of decorating the room based on various themes of continents, Rooms are named Asia, North America and like that. The rooms are small but decent. Few rooms have balconies.Bathrooms: Are great, It is small, but very clean, you wont feel bad.Beds: Are good and they change it as necessary. Atmosphere: Friendly and as expected. Breakfast:They will supply you coupons once you reach there. The hotel where you get break fast is just nearby. The breakfast is inadequate, it is just one coffee and one croissant. Behaviour:The persons are very friendly, however, we had a problem. We had booked for 5 days in the India room. On the 4rth day however, we had been made to shift to North america room (a smaller room with no balconies). We some how came to know that the persons who were to occupy the India room had actually booked the north america room. So we didn't quite find it comfortable to shift our room because 1. we have booked and paid for the india room 2. Why should some preference be given to other travellers. This is the only bad mark that dents the view about this hotel.Tour:As the booking was for 5 days, we were entitled to a free vatican tour. The tour was given and it was very good. We had little problems in locating the guide, however, the directions and meeting place that were given by the hotel was bit vague.Overall 4/5

I suspect that it may be almost standard practice here to double book rooms. We and another couple both booked the "India Room" several months in advance, and arrived at the front desk (co-incidentally ... and I think much to the discomfort of the staff) at the same time to check in. The staff apologised and insisted that someone else was already in the India Room (which we later deduced was not true) and proceeded to give us both inferior rooms (and 7 euro back). The 'double bed' we received was actually two singles pushed together, and was terribly uncomfortable, the view from our tiny window was hideous, and we were not advised that hotel staff would enter our room whilst we were out. N.B The infamous "India Room" also does not have a balcony, as is advertised.

I would like to give When In Rome a fair review as if it hadn't been for the problem with our booking then I would return, but unfortunately they double booked us and it almost ruined our stay here so I would like to let other people know about this so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I booked a double room (India) 2 months in advance and paid more to have a private bathroom, however upon arrival we were told that we would be given the South America room (shared facilities) and initially weren't offered a refund for the downgrade on the accommodation. After quite a bit of hassle we were given a refund of 15 euros per night but I wasn't happy about the fact that the hotel did not contact me prior to arrival to inform me that they had double booked our room. However, despite this, if it hadn't been for the problem with the booking then I would have given the hotel a good review as it was clean, and the facilities were good for a budget hotel. The location is also very good as it is very near (less than 5 min walk) to Termini Station making it within easy reach of all the main attractions. The breakfast was also a nice little extra (coffee or cappuccino and a croissant at a cafe further down the street) and the staff at the cafe (Piccolino's bar) were very friendly indeed. The lift could do with a refurb as it was very slow and a bit shady, and the hostel may also benefit from a sign outside, but other than that it is good value for Rome and the security was good too.A word of warning though - contact the hotel directly before you arrive to check that they have booked the correct room for you!!!

Place was easy to get to from Termini. A good stop over for a day in Rome.

Breakfast was a voucher for a coffee & croissant at nearby snack bar as is quite normal for B&Bs like this. Room was as described and ok. bathroom was not private but that was ok as there were 2 bathrooms for 4 bedrooms, never a problem.our room had the luxury of a balcony which was great but there were no chairs, a couple of plastic chairs would have been great as we could have spent more time relaxing as it was so hot in Rome that we needed plenty of siesta time! Everywhere in Rome is within walking distance but you can get tickets vaild for Metro & Buses etc quite cheaply but as traffic is heavy usually quicker to walk. Beware the mopeds and cross the roads as the Italians do. Visit Bar Antica just around the corner from hotel as they are really friendly and helpful. Our overnight train from Rome to Venice was cancelled due to strikes but staff at Bar Antica found us hotel for night even though we turned up at midnight! Great time in Rome.

This accommodation is more like staying in a room in an apartment block rather than a hotel, and its excellent value for money if you are on a budget. Its in a very good location for the trains and Metro lines to all the attractions. The Rooms are clean and come with a Flat screen TV and Towels, I stayed in the South American Room which has a balcony but no bathroom, this isnt a problem because the bathroom is just outside your room and is only shared with 1 other room and this was also very clean. When you check out you can leave you bags for free in the laundry place just up the street.

The hotel itself was fine, in a very good location and the facilities were modern. The bathroom was shared, which I didn't realise, but didn't cause a problem as it was just across the hall. The entry is system is 3 different keys which you have to carry around, and we found the locks very stiff so spent a lot of time getting in and out! The hotel is on the 5th floor and the lift to access fits 2 people in with luggage at an absolutely push, probably 1 if you have anything bigger than a rucksack. We were offered a free tour of the Vatican museum as part of our stay, but when we came to meeting the tour guide they didn't turn up! So we had to go around by ourself, which was disappointing.
