Nice hotel, but I had to spend $32 extra on cabs- Orbitz advertises (as of 7/4/09) airport shuttle but they had discontinued same. Had I know I would have chosen another property.

This hotel was rated 31/2 stars but should have been rated one. The first room they had us in had an overpowering smell of smoke. They only changed our room when I explained to three different people that I have a smoke allergy and would not be able to stay in the room. The second room smelled musty and was very small. We barely had room to move around. The staff at the desk was unfriendly and never knew the answers to simple questions asked about the city. I travel several times a month and have never had the desk staff at least say good morning/afternoon/evening. Pay the couple of extra dollars an stay at the princess hotel.

We came in a day early - 1st leg of Holland America tour - because I'm from Fairbanks & hadn't been there for years. The room was great. bed was very comfortable and there were extra pillows. There are black out drapes so you don't need to worry about how to sleep in a room that has sunlight still shining in at 11:00pm. We only ate one meal at the hotel - very average, not worth the cost but at least it was convenient.Staff - friendly and helpful if not terribly knowledgeable about the city itself.

It is clean and comfortable. My room was large and had a desk for doing my paperwork. The complimentary continental breakfast is great and the restaurant is an excellent setting. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. The staff was also sharp.

Poor quality pillows, cheap Vellux blankets. We asked for a wake-up call for 6 a.m. and were awakened instead at one a.m. -seems the computer system has trouble with the change from Daylight Savings time. (so why didn't they just handle the wake-up calls manually? We asked whether we could be notified if the Northern Lights were visible and were told we don't pay any attention to that. Milk at breakfast was sour; dinner featured greasy fish and leaden mashed potatoes. I realize hotel standards in Alaska lag behind those in the lower 48, but this was a recently refurbished hotel. Customer service has a long way to go. One very nice touch - the van that transports guests to and from the airport and other area attractions.

Curteous personnel, very clean rooms, ample parking, comfortable beds, excellent continental breakfast, best price in town

The hotel didn't seem very busy but we had a room at a far end of the older part of the hotel, and the area felt a little run down, in comparison to the nicer lobby area. The room was adequate -- nothing exciting about it.

The rooms were beautifully furnished. The Red Lantern served the poorest piece of salmon I have ever eaten. It was supposed to have been pan-seared but instead tasted as if it had been breaded and then cooked dry almost to the point of inedibility. The Northern Latitudes Breakfast Buffet consisted of overcooked, rubbery, and tasteless scrambled eggs and greasy. Everything else on the buffet was lukewarm and not being held at the required temperature of 140F deg or greater. They should have allocated some of the 34 million spent for refurbishment on a kitchen staff that knows how to cook.

The Westmark has a very clean and cozy environment, the hotel staff are very nice and accomadating to their guests. The rooms are large and clean. I would recommend this hotel to all my business associates.

The Westmark Hotel was comfortable, and spacious. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The room was kept clean everyday. I liked the fact that there were two televisions in different parts of the room. This could allow viewing without disturbing others that may be sleeping. There was an ironing board and iron in the closet. There was an extra blanket stored there also. I really liked the fact that there was a laundry downstairs on the first floor. Being able to do laundry kept my packing to a minimum. The fitness room was clean and well stocked. The location was pretty centrally located. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

The Westmark Hotel is a decent enough hotel. There were a few things that we had problems with. Our bed broke after about 2 weeks of being there. We were promptly moved to the room next door (they even helped me carry all of our belongings over). The next evening there were some very rude people down the hall having a party, I complained twice and not much seemed to be taken care of, with the exception of the music being turned down. I would've thought they would appreciate a customer's sleep that was spending THREE weeks there a little over a group of young adults there for ONE night just to have a party! But other than that everything was pretty mediocre. Our room cards wouldn't work about 5 times, so we would have to go get them re-programmed. And we were told there was room service, the people across the hall got it almost daily, yet everytime when we talked to the restaurant in the hotel they said they do not do room service!? I was a bit confused. And one odd thing; the toilets are quite loud...they are very powerful, which most of the time is nice, except when they are used in the middle of the night. Decent hotel. Located right downtown. Easy enough to find if you do not know your way around Fairbanks. And the look of the hotel is pleasing. Also, the exercise room is a little under par. Only about 4 different types of cardio machines. Overall, I might refer this hotel to people. Depending on what you're looking for.

The location was good in that it was within walkingdistance to the Center but in a quiet neighborhood. The room was compact but well furnished and the bed was very comfortable.A resturant on the premises was a good idea but the food was was just average. The staff was extremely helpful in giving information about the area with the exception of one surly shuttle driver who seemed as if everything was an imposition on his time. Iwould recommend this hotel as a goodplace to stay for a short time in Fairbanks.

The lobby and rooms are quite nice, quiet and comfortable. The price was super! The location is a bit seedy. The hotel posted lots of warnings about not answering the door. Perhaps, Fairbanks has a lot of crime. I couldn't eat at the restaurant because of lack of vegetarian choices. However, I would return because it's a great place and an Italian restaurant was near.

The hotel was a good localtion for us to find and to see some of Fairbanks on foot. It was in a location of easy access to the main roads. Food in the lounge was good, lighter than the dining room after a long day of driving. Friendly and helpful staff.

The room was clean and large enough for my needs. I liked the seperate closet area as well as the the comode being seperate from the vanity area. They had room service, it was fast and efficient. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and polite. I had a burned out light bulb in the bedside lamp and it didn't get replaced before I left, but I didn't report it until after 8 p.m., so I am sure that it was replaced after I checked out. The location was a few blocks from where my meeting was held, so was vey convenient and there was sufficiant parking for the hotel.
