My daughter and I had just completed a visit to Costa Rica at the end of May/First of June and the hotel was much better in Costa Rica than Cancun (even though the star ranking of the Hilton in Costa Rica was lower than the star ranking of this hotel). We liked the small size of the hotel. Don't eat at the hotel for dinner. Too expensive and the food is not that good.

Reception area is clean and updated. Run down and old, swimming pool is dirty. The hotel is old and run down. Far away from the tourist attraction.

We were expecting a wonderful, relaxing visit to Cancun and we got it! The Westin comes highly recomended from us. we stayed for 4 nights and will return. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room faced the ocean on the ground floor, with a walkout patio. The resort was quiet, which is what we were looking for.We felt safe. The food we both thought, was very good. The advice to take advantage of the Royal Beach Club, was an excellent one. The buffet breakfast bar was wonderful and if you walked away from that hungry, it was your fault. Our advice for the 5:30-7:30 happy hour with food would be to go early before most of it is gone. The beds were VERY comfortable, and with everything in the room being white was a refreshing experience.

This hotel is on the southern end of the hotel zone and a longer bus ride to all of the Cancun activities. The pool and towels are the only hotel amenities that are included, everything else you have to pay for. The hotel has several pools and the rooms with ocean views are very picturesque. There is also beach access. The excursion trips were easy to set up from the hotel. The exchange rate offered by the front desk was okay, but better can be found at an area bank.

After some haggling they let us check in early. I would have like some refrigerator space in the room. The hotel was nice. I liked the design of the rooms, very tall ceilings and very clean looking. The hotel has the best pool/beach area. Multiple pools and many palapas for you to enjoy the shade.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Westin Resort & Spa and it exceeded my expectations ... if you stay be sure to add the Royal Beach Club upgrade so that you are able to enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast which includes a variety of breads, fruit, cereal, yogurt & toppings, in addition to scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage/bacon and waffles/pancakes. The breakfast is conveniently located in a beautiful room overlooking the pool and ocean. In addition to the breakfast, Royal Beach Club guests also receive a very well appointed "happy hour" where you can indulge in pina coladas, beers, margaritas, etc. (with no obvious limit) and many, many hot appetizers. We essentially ate breakfast, either skipped lunch or had something small and then had the happy hour for dinner ... not that we were trying to be frugal it was just so much food. Also included with Royal Beach Club guest was 30 minutes of internet use in the business office, or wireless. As noted in a previous review - the rooms are quite tropical. The beds were great, but felt damp at the end of the day. We loved the location of this hotel because it was in the quieter location of the beach and because it had such quick & easy access to the bus line which you can take anywhere for a mere 25 pesos.

This was the first time we had planned a vacation like this and it was one of our best vacation. Everything went as planned. The hotel was way nice for the price we paid. While we were there we went to go visit the Mayan Pyramid which is part of the seven wonders of the world (thats a must do if in Cancun), we also went to Xel Ha which was like a natural water park and was very beautiful by the way. Once at the hotel, we would usually walk around the beach, enjoy the scenic view, gather sea shells, and pretty much what anyone would do at a beach. The beach was very serene, peaceful, and calm. Not crowded at all. We didn't really interact with the staff so much but when we did they were very nice. Also, pay the extra money to get a room with the ocean view, it would have been way worth it.The location wasn't the best because to get to the shopping centers you would have to drive to the places. The pool did close way to early, but other than that our vacation was very good.

Ideal location for those who want a great beach, away from the crowds of Cancun and yet convenient enough to Cancun Center. The rooms need some updating. Because the hotel is located at the south end of the island, we were the first to be dropped off coming from the airport and last to be picked up before heading back to the airport. Real big plus when using the van taxi service. Access to other attractions such as the ruins are also south of the hotel and, therefore, easier to get to.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for our spring break and have nothing but positive things to say about it. We upgraded to the Royal Beach Club after reading some of the reviews others had left about it, and it was worth every penny! Our room was much more then we expected, had a great view and the open bar every night with snacks was great. I suggest getting to know the staff and the bar tender, they are great guys, tip them and they are even nicer... The breakfast consisted of a buffet style with french toast or pancakes everyday. And the beach was amazing, no shortage of lounge chairs, and everything was in tip top condition. Over all a great stay, I recommend this to anyone looking for a great deal and amazing beach.

Helpful, delightful,attentive, patient with us with the langauge differnce, we snorkled-played with dolphins, saw some ruins, spa treatments, swam all of the time and got drunk!!! BEST TRIP EVER!

Great beach, less crowded than others in Cancun. Great pool, gym and restaurants. Room decor is a little minimalist. The Westin is the best place to stay in Cancun if you want to get away from the crowds. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful and the views from the rooms facing the sea are incredible. The facilities are modern and clean. The public spaces were very attractive. The service was excellent from the entire staff.

The hotel is not new, but it is kept in good conditions. It is very good for relaxing and resting because is not in the center of all the activity, so you wont find noisy college kids or the drunk smell you get. The bus passes on the front of the hotel so transportation is not a problem. The only thing is food is very expensive and is not very good, also the charge for almost everything and they don't even have natural orange juice in the breakfast buffet!!! My wife and I celebrated our 1 year aniversary and stayed for 5 days (which is not enough!!) our plan was to relax and simply enjoy the beach.

The location and the beach were excellent. The hotel is somewhat dated. The location is among the best for all of the hotels in the Cancun hotel zone. It has a very nice wide beach. The service, however, was below par.

The Westin was a nice place to stay. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and eager to please. The beach was beautiful and clean. The only downside was the screaming kids at the pool. I would've stayed at an adults only resport but I figured with school in session that we'd be safe...apparently not. Aside from that it was a wonderful trip.

The view of the Caribbean sea! Great spa and massage! Nothing. Perfect spot to unwind! Away from Downtown partying but close enough to engage. Good food and great drinks! Awesome view of beach from room.

We stayed at the Westin January 2nd - 7th after staying here about three months ago. The service was ok, it took about 30 minutes to check in which was annoying and the guy helping us disappeared for 10 minutes at a time. When exchanging money at the front desk, they didn't have enough change and still owe me money, but I'll never see that again. Also, the bellman staff are sort of rude and are more interested in selling you tickets to Coco Bongo than doing what you are tipping them for. Overall I wasn't very impressed this time around. Also, watch out for the hard sell on time-shares...starting with the concerige desk...if you never answer the phone in your room, you're safe.

Location on beach. Service fridge didn't work n I reported twice. Nice clean good location but restaurants overpriced n they charge u for every little thing. Not even a free cup of coffee in lobby. I would have to call more than once for any requests as they never did fix fridge in room.
