We spent most of our days at the pool. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The beach was close and accesable and the view was wonderful. We ate breakfeast in the Caralina Cafe every morning and enjoyed the variety and freshness of all the food. The Turtle was a nice break from running around for dinner. It was a casual dinner with just the right offerings and close to our room. There was pleanty for the kids to do, which they enjoyed. The room service rates were too high to merit an evening of dinner in the room. One afternoon my wife wanted a dish of icecream. I ventured out to the Turtle, but found it to be closed until later in the afternoon. A staff member offered to get the icecream from the kitchen for us. I thought that was very nice until I had to pay the almost $16 to two dishes of icecream, which I had to carry through the heat back to our room. The icecream was OK, but certainly not worth $16. We have traveled and stayed at the Ritz Carlton In several cities, which is definetly several steps above the Westin. The Staff at the Westin were great, very friendly and helpful. Prices on Valet and other items should be available up-front rather than the sticker shock after the fact. There is a $16 resort fee for every night of your stay. This included the workout facility, wireless connection, shuttles and whatever else. We did not use any of these services during our stay at the Westin, but were still charged for them. The Westin has upscale prices, but not the upscale look you would expect.

We went to Hilton Head Island for a romantic/relaxing get-a-way. The Hotel was great. Our room was fine, not super quality but the beds were comfy and the bathroom spacious. The water pressure in the shower was low, but no biggie. We had a partial ocean view room and it was perfect! We overlooked beautiful trees and the ocean with a view of the pool as well. We did not bring our children, but did hear them runninig in the halls once in a while which did not really bother us. The drinks at the pool bar were a little expensive, but YUMMY!! We only ate breakfast at the buffet, but it was good. The hotel staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Debbie the concierge was great and made wonderful suggestions for dinners each night. The hotel was in a fantastic location and beautiful outside. The beach was nice - to one side was all private homes so the walks were nice because it was quiet to one side. The pool was easy to get a chair and we loved the live music daily - the musician was very talented. All in all the stay was great and I would go back again.

From the beginning, the staff at the Westin was amazingly polite, from the woman at the check-in counter to the cleaning staff we encountered in the halls, and even a valet who, when we couldn't find a nearby parking space on our own, pointed out the underground garage with an elevator that took us directly to our floor. Our room was kept spotlessly clean whenever we were gone. We did less exploring of the immediate area--the dining was fabulous, but we spent far more time in the surrounding areas of South Carolina and Savannah than we did exploring Hilton Head--but what we saw was majestic, and though small roadside signs gently indicated all the commercial trappings of a large town, these were hidden discreetly behind towering walls of trees. The hotel does have a beautiful beach, covered in seashells and coastal fauna--look all you want, and touch if you must, but they stay here at the end of the day--which made for a pleasant walk towards the end. In the end, my only real lament about this place is that we didn't have an extra day or two here.

The valets, housekeepers, waiters and Batista's were wonderful! Customer service to the max! Very friendly! Room was in disrepair, water damage, peeling paint, front desk staff was not helpful, had to call three times before phone was answered. This location was not at all up to the standards I expect from a Westin very disappointing. There was paint peeling on the ceilings and obvious water damage in the room. The room furnishings were very dated and in poor condition. The front desk staff was not helpful, but all other staff was wonderful. The outside amenities were very nice, and did make the visit much better.

My husband and I were excited to take this trip, as it was our first alone together since the birth of our daughter two years ago. The marketing for this hotel is great and made us feel we were in for a romantic and upscale experience. The hotel lobby and pool area looks great, but it ends there. The hallways and rooms have horribly stained carpeting, the elevators are extremely slow and antiquated (and ours was a VERY long walk from the lobby), the food at Carolina Cafe is extremely expensive and terrible, items we charged to our room showed up on the final bill as more expensive than the receipts we had, there were bugs in the room, one of the plumbing fixtures was coming off the bathroom wall and the brass lighting fixtures were straight from the 1980's, and there was a family with eight people (four of them kids) and a barking in the room next door to us (although this family was very nice, I must say). Also - there were kids EVRYWHERE at the hotel - it was like we were at Disney. Please be warned that 17% gratuity is added on to bills for Turtles poolside and at the pool bar area. So, even if your service is slow (which it was in our experience) you have to give 17% to the server. The most positive points were the comfortable beds, the friendly staff (not quite as much at the front desk, though), and the patio we had overlooking the ocean. We booked at the Westin because we were expecting a lovely couples getaway. Lucky that we are so happy in love, as we tried just to laugh and make the best of a bad situation. It was such an expensive mistake, though.

Courteous and friendly staff. Everyone was super friendly. We went for our anniversary. Since it was our anniversary they sent us wine with chocolate covered strawberries. It was great. I would recommend it to anyone.

I booked this room through Priceline at 144 less than the listed price available on every other site. So it was totally random that the Westin was the hotel that won my bid of 135 per night for a "resort" type room. Now, down to the review.....it was fantastic! The room was large and comfortable, the beds were great, and the only thing wrong with the room was no view. I didn't try to upgrade, I just took what I was given and considered it had something to do with the price I paid. I spent little time in my room so it wasn't a big deal. The surroundings were fabulous. Foliage and flowers everywhere. I felt like we had escaped to a tropical paradise. We had left cold weather and drab colors behind. I like the Port Royal Plantation area, easy to get anywhere we wanted to go. Eat at the "Oyster Factory". Great food. We didn't use any of the resort amenities, so I can't comment. We did have drinks every evening at the Turtle Bar on site. Margaritas were good. Overall, I would stay here again. The staff were very friendly. One last note...this is not your typical beach vacation resort. It did seem to cater to adults. I don't know if I would feel comfortable going in and out from the beach wearing beach attire with children in tow with rafts or sand buckets. If there were other entrances specifically for entering and exiting from the beach, I didn't see it. This was a great adult getaway and we enjoyed the hotel. I will recommend it to others for a quick weekend getaway!!!

there was not even a continental breakfast we had a coctail at the pool 10. dollars the beachwas fine but you had to rent a chair we had valet the first night $15 it aotomaticly goes on your bill unless you tell them you will park yourself we also had a fire alarm go of at 3:30am false alarm we have stayed at much better places for less money ps we had a balcony but it was facing trees not the ocean

This hotel was undergoing maintenance. Very noisy! Barking dog on our floor made our stay even more unpleasant. Much construction on the beach. Would not recommend this hotel until indoor maintanence and outdoor construction is completed.

Great location. We're not aware of the $16/day resort thatI had to pay in addition to room. Hotel is very nice. Restaraunts prices are a little high in addition to room bar. The worst part of the trip is finding out thatI had to pay an additional $16/day resort fee.

Our trip was amazing. The Westin Hilton Head is awesome. We booked the romance package for our honeymoon. The price was very reasonable for a hotel on the beach. Plus, we got champagne and strawberries when we checked in and breakfast for 2 every morning we were there. The prices in the hotel restaurants were very reasonable. And the food was fabulous.

Nice room layout, very comfortable bed, the fact it did not feel as clean as I thought it should be is probably because motel needs some up dating.
