The Westin has a ideal location for walks in the GasLamp district as well as for cruise departure, both of which applied in our case. The curtesy transfer to the ship was a pleasant surprise. The Westin has a novel architecture and very pleasant, good sized rooms. All in all top rate - high value for the money.

We stayed for three nights, chosing the hotel based reviews, location and the expectation to get something nice for * a night. Well, the good thing is there's not much bad to report about the hotel. Clean. Flat screen tv. But nothing nice. All very ordninary, average buiseness hotel. On the negative side: Concierge sent us to Balboa Park and its museums, recommending it for a rainy Monday afternoon. Turns out that most museums were closed. he should have known and saved us the time & money. Internet charge is 13USD per day. Rip off. That's not a service orientiation.

Nice hotel, but I would really expect it to have free wireless access to compete with other similar hotels. Starbucks in the lobby was a plus

Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Very basic. Anything else was extra $. Parking $. The hotel was nice, clean, and has a distinct appearance from the exterior. But beyond the basics I felt there was nothing special to set it apart from others. I stayed in much less expensive hotels on this trip and felt I received a better value for my money at those locations. Anything beyond the basics was always for a nominal fee. While other hotels included many of these extras. Parking was very expensive with not really any other options. I was just not really impressed with this as a 4 star hotel.

The Westin is a terrific value in downtown San Diego. The hotel is clean, efficient, etc.and a good value for a business traveler However, the spout in the tub just about fell off the wall! I hope the staff brought this problem to facilities staff - Room 1116. The bathroom generally could use a face lift- the paper is peeling. Because this is a corner room, the big screen tv is a plus.

Happy with service and prices. Parking was expensive, but great valet guys allow you to go in and out as much as you like. When you walk in, you see this hotel is all business, no style.

Fast elevators, prompt room-service, cheerful & knowledgeable concierge. Expensive daily internet charge ($13). Comfortable medium-firm bed mattress, but not magic in quality feeling. Extra pillows and shams for comfortable TV watching was fun. Fun and unique colors and shapes of soaps and shampoos. Terrycloth bathrobes available for free usage on request, but not initially supplied to the room. Nice Starbucks coffee packets are free in-room, but the tempting in-room bottled water is costly ($5).

I love that they have a free airport shuttle that was fast and convenient. Also, the hotel was in an awesome location. We were in walking distance to almost everything downtown San Diego has to offer. The room had a good amount of space and a super comfortable bed. We were hoping to get massages while we were staying there, but they only do them in room. That was a little disappointing, but there are always other day spas in San Diego you can go to. One bad thing about this hotel is that I feel they don't thoroughly clean the room. I found some dirt spots on the bathtub and they didn't take out dirty cups we had taken up from the bar. Overall though, it was a great experience.

The Westin is super nice. The room we had was decorated in a modern way with side tables that hung on the wall, and a bathroom vanity that was an open shelf underneath. The wallpaper was textured squares in white. INcluded a coffee maker with pod coffee (like a tea bag) that was delicious- starbucks. Bed was OK for me, husband didn't like it. Said too soft. Lobby was nice - would be great to meet a date or sit with a nice drink. Modern sofas and hanging glass green lights. Water features. Cafe in lobby was expensive for breakfast (18 for pancakes) but they had a breakfast bar that had breakfast burritos (great) for 5 or so, and bagels and cream cheese. We ate on an outside patio. Location was PERFECT and convenient. 1 block from light rail and Amtrack station. About 4 blocks from Horton Plaza and the gaslamp area. Within 1 block of a 7-11 too. The light rail station had a pastry, coffee, lunch place, and bar. Great food there. Only issue with hotel was parking - it was a jaw-dropping $29. and valet only. There was a city lot across the small side street N of Broadway [Columbia(?) -the same side street as the parking entrance), and just before the Westin parking as you go south on this one way street. The city parking was $15-20 night. The staff did refer us to the cheaper parking, but with a sleeping toddler we opted to pay the first night. However, it seemed to be included already in the online travel website's taxes and fees estimate somehow. Staff was nice and helpful on check-in, loading to our room, and asking for info. ** Be aware that there is another Westin just East? in the gaslamp quarter.

We took a trip for our anniversary and spent our time Downtown and at the beach. It was enjoyable and the hotel was in a prime location. We walked everywhere. The only thing I was upset about was after I booked the room on Orbitz, I called the hotel to reserve a king bed (instead of 2 double beds), and they would not let me make such a request. I was told I would have to wait until I checked in. We were lucky enough that a king was available when we got there. That is my singular complaint. Other than that, the check-in clerk was super personable and the concierge was also very helpful. The hotel is very nice and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in.

Ienjoyed the view from the elevator and i also enjoyed the almost hidden pool. The hotel was beautiful. The parking was $32.00 a night whichI felt was way too expensive for a hotel guest. Once you tip the valet in and out all dayI am sure It was at least $50.00 per day for parking. IfI had not looked online at the hotelI would never have known there was a pool. I could not find the pool at first.

we stayed here 1 night- as an alternative to paying for a costly cab ride home after a long night of partying. This hotel was amazing! we had a wonderful experience- the service was 5 star/ the room was 5 star & the location was perfect for our needs. we will stay here again! !!!!!! Stay-cations are wonderful !!!!!!

Great ambiance and room. The parking was $24 a day. I thoroughly enjoyed most things about this hotel, the location and staff were of utmost quality.

Visited San Diego for three days in June. The Westin was an excellent place to stay. Prompt complimentary pick-up from the airport. Good central location in downtown. All areas of downtown S.D. are easily accessible from the Westin. Walking is an option, but so are taxi's. and trains. Experienced the S.D. MTA train system with pleasant reviews. A one block walk to the train gets you to Petco, Convention Center, Gaslamp, Harbor, etc. Rooms are typical Westin quality. For those unfamiliar, that means very nice. Heavenly Bed, with a dual headed shower, DLP TV, etc. Very clean throughout. Morning breakfast buffet will satisfy anyones diets. From typical carb/sugars, to fruits/yogurts, to proteins. Your whole group will start the day off right. Downtown S.D. is nice, but due to the easy climate, people who elect to live outside are very prevalent throughout town. The Westin remains a very secure location when the sun goes down.

We enjoyed this hotel, it is an newer hotel and the room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is located in the business district, walking distance from dining, and we had a partial view of the ocean. We were impressed with the pet friendly room. Parking in the entire area is terrible, so plan to pay for parking, we paid for valet parking at the hotel cheaper than the parking garage. Try to walk if at all possible. Would recommend this hotel!
