Bedbugs My husband and I reserved a room at Westgate Resort for two nights on July 18, 2008. We placed in room 216. On our first night stay I was awaken by my husband at 3:00am because he thought he saw bugs in my bed. When I moved from the bed we could see many bugs in the bed. He stared killing a few and we realized that they were everywhere in the bed and in the pillow cases. We then examined his bed and found the same. We tried to call the front desk but no one answered. As my husband moved our belongings from the area, I went down to the front desk to report our findings. I asked for someone in the resort to come to our room to see for themselves. A man and the security person (female) came to the room. It was so disturbing that she screamed when she saw them. We were offered another room which was across the hall. We were so unnerved that we lefted the hotel and returned home. I called DEHEC but was told that they no longer regulate hotels. Needless to say we have many bumps over our bodies and took steps to not infest our home

I booked this trip a month in advance. When I got there, they over booked me and moved me to another location....not what I paid for. Then when I got to the other location, they tried to get another $100 from me. The whole Westgate management was horrible. No one said "sorry" or offered anything for the huge inconvenience to me and my family. Orbitz was of no help also.

The staff was very friendly and prompt. Rooms were a little small. Had to pay extra for internet in own room. The staff was great there. The parking was the best from what I saw of other hotels. The kiddy pool was great for my 1 year old son.

Neither of the restaurants was ever open. A water pipe broke so we had to use bottled water for an entire day. Make sure you stay in at least a studio suite! Otherwise you will be staying in the old part of the hotel where the paint is falling off the walls and the door locks barely shut. There were stains on the floor and the bathrooms were disgusting. We upgraded after five minutes in our original room. It's only $100 extra to stay for three days in the new part of the hotel in a studio suite where there is a kitchen with granite countertops and flat screen tvs. DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! Would only stay again if it was in the NEW portion of the hotel. Ratings below on NEW rooms.

Usually when you get a cheap motel you get what you pay for ,but not here. This motel was clean, the staff friendly, and was a very good motel for the price.I look forward to going back again in the future.

I drove for 7 hours and arrived at the resort and they told me they overbooked and didn't have accomodations for me and they sent me to a horrible substitution which wasn't up to my standard. I was then rerouted to Orbitz which in turn couldn't get them to honor the reservation and could'nt find any availability any place on the beach. I was then told the only availability was the Fairfield Inn and when I arrived they only had smoking rooms, so I had to drive back to Georgia at midnight. This was very unprofessional of Orbitz and Westgate Resorts to not inform me that there was an overbooking. This was the worse travel experience I ever had, because I made reservations 1 month and 4 days before traveling and no one contacted me to let me know I didn't have a room very unprofressional.

The pools and food. The room size, beds very uncomfortable, room had a bad odor. The hotel was nice but the floors (carpets) felt very sticky and musty, the room size was way to small and the beds were too small as well and very very uncomfortable. TV sound wasn't good quality and maid service wasn't good. The front desk staff was very friendly.

This hotel is advertised as luxurious but it is far from that. To put it lightly, the rooms are awful. The paint is cracking everywhere. The bathrooms are nasty. The staff is not on the same page, if you know what I mean. When you open the doors to the hutch that the tv sits in, the doors completely blocks the light coming from the wall mounted lamps. The elevator is very slow. The rooms are small......... very little space to set up the ironing board. The room even had an extension cord in there because of the lack of outlets. They are building the new hotel that they call luxurious next to the I stayed in. I would imagine that once it is finished it will be very nice so please inquire before booking, if your room will be in the new location.

The Westgate has more problems than they would care to explain. Upon check in we learned that our reservation had been moved to another hotel 10 miles away. I was told that we weren't the only ones that had this happen but none of us were ever given an explanation to why. We found when we arrived at the new hotel was not an oceanfront like we had reserved but in the woods 1 mile off the ocean. The Westgate didn't want to take the blame for any of what happened but placed all fault on the new hotel and Orbitz. I read the reviews on this hotel thinking that maybe the bad ones were only people being a little too picky. This is not the case. If not for the Kingston Plantation and Orbitz our trip would have been completely ruined. DO NOT STAY AT THE WESTGATE!!!!!!!!!!

this was the biggest disappointment i have ever experienced from a hotel. everything from broken toilets to bird feathers and feces in the pool. there was nothing acceptable at all. the restaurant served a thanksgiving meal from a can, the staff did not cater to personal situations, rather chose manipulation as there tactics. stay here is you desire a horrific vacation!!

After reading some less-than-average reviews, I was skeptical, but booked anyway. We were very pleased with our stay! First, the staff was extra friendly. They were very courteous and helpful. Almost everyone spoke to me as I passed through the lobby or the hallways. The rooms were clean and well-stocked with towels. Access to the beach is easily reached though the pool area or a hallway near the dining room. There are a few negatives about the hotel, but these things would not prevent me from staying there again in the future. There was a slight musty odor in 2 of the 3 three rooms we occupied. Parking is not convenient. There is a small lot adjacent to the building for "owners," but travelers have to park on the other side of the street, crossing 4 lanes of traffic without a crosswalk or traffic light. High-speed Internet is available, but only for a $10/day charge. Free wi-fi should be available at all hotels. Overall, it was a great stay; better than many of the other hotels I have visited.

The hotel was nice and clean. I really enjoyed myself at this hotel. Even thoughI didn't have ocean view the city view was okay. The staff was friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Myrtle beach.

This is by far the dirtiest, ugliest, hotel I have ever stayed in. They lure you in by telling you it's a "Luxurious Westgate Resort", when in reality it is a Holiday Inn that they cram you into while they are building the "luxurious Westgate resort" next door. The building is scheduled to be torn down in 2009 to complete the Westgate Project-and not a moment too soon! The elevators moved so slowly that my husband took the stairs to the lobby and said the smell of urine was overwhelming. The rugs were damp, there was mold in the bathroom, pigeons and pigeon droppings on the patio, Never, ever stay here!!!!!

The new tower of the hotel was very nice. The room was very spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great. When we got there the staff was friendly. At one point at our stay, i heard one of the employees complaining out by the pool bar. I thought it was a little unprofessional. I did enjoy the pools. The gameroom for the kids was to little and some of the machines didn't work. I would go to the hotel again.

It was right on the beach. Fabulous location! Thin walls. You could hear things from the hallway and adjacent rooms. The price you pay is for the ocean front location which was awesome! However, the hotel is old and not anything exceptional.

The new tower opened for the first time when we went there. The 1 BR condo was really nice and cosy. Good ameneties including a hot tub in the bed room. But the location is very noisy because of the surrounding amusement parks/entertainment. Our condo was on the side of the building which made it worse.

We had to pay extra for internet services inside the comfort our hotel room. Overall it was convenient to many of the attractions. It was close to the beach and the pools were clean and fun.

We only got to stay one eve. Maybe next time it will be longer!!! It was peaceful, and the beach was perfect at 10:30pm (which is when we finally had time to check it out!) The Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I would def stay there again.
