Everything that you read here is true. I did not recommend stay in this Hostel. I had my Ipod stolen from my room, and nobody give to ma any attention. Is better pay a little more and stay in a secure place. If you want to stay there, be carefull with your belongs, because you did not have security inside your room.

rooms horrible looking, the beds had bug bends in them so be careful keep your eyes open!!!!! bathroom seem like never been cleaned...the whole hotel or should i say HOSTEL needs to be blown down...its not SANITARY!!!

The hotel is in a quiet location, pretty close to a park.its in a residential neighbourhood.there are four bunk beds ,in a room,if you choose not to pay extra money for a private room.room is small.at night,in winter it gets cold!!!!there are bathrooms ,and they are generally kept clean.there is a lounge in the basement, with a flat screen and huge sofas.overall,if you are just going to sleep and shower in the hotel,it's worth it.

Pretty basic place. plenty of amenities around and access to subway. showers/bathroom not very good. either blocked or only hot water out of the shower head

The hotel and the rooms were clean but I did'nt realize I would be sharing the room with other people in a coed situation. On top of that, the beds were bunk beds. Although the room rates were very resonable, I probably wont stay in a hostel again.

The staff were all awesome, the bathrooms were usually readily available, and it's what you get for your money. The pillows weren't fluffy but they weren't hard, and the room was clean. Great distance from the subway and only a few stops from Times Square. Anyone on a budget should look at htis place!

Upon arriving I noticed there was no AC in the building. During the day is gets unbearable but when the sun goes down it dips in the low 70's and gets very comfortable to sleep in. My friend and I slept like babies with both windows open. The bathrooms are shared by everyone and at first I didn't want to use them because the bathtub was peeling and their was rust and the floor was coming apart but after spending all day in the heat and sweating from experiencing New York, I'm glad they had showers! I highly suggest this place if you need somewhere to put your stuff for the day while you're out doing things. None of my stuff or money was stolen or even went through while I stayed there, it's in a very short walking distance to Subway's, corner stores and central park.

The West End Studios/Hostel was pretty standard for a hostel. The staff at the check-in were needlessly rude and obviously undertrained. I was in line for quite a while, watching them check others in and out. The staff barely showed any semblance of courtesy to anyone, made errors with reservations, and refused to do anything to resolve problems. The air conditioner worked thankfully. Shared bathroom was adequate. Never saw the common room.

The West End Studio and Hostel is a very elegant Hostel. The room was air conditioned and spacious, checkin was very easy and the elevator was a comfort after a long day of hard work. I liked the spacious bathrooms, which were private and always available. I loved the 24 hour security. It is conveniently located near transportation. And, the lobby of the Hostel was welcoming and comfortable.

It seemed very small and cluttered there was no AC at the time of my visit so it was very uncomfortable.. maybe if the AC was working i would not have trouble. I definetly recommended it because the price is right!

the Westend Ave. hotel was clean and cheap. It is in a very good section of N.Y..Felt free to roam the streets at night. plenty of good restaurants closeby. Subway lines were very convenient to getting to theatre district and other points of interest.

The West End was a very dirty Hotel on the inside. My room had unfinished paint on the walls, I did not have a TV in the room. The carpet was so old and it smelled bad. I tried to check-out but it would had cost more then i could afford, my son and I stayed we tried not to spend anytime in that room except to sleep and we wore slippers to avoid touching the dirty carpets.I took pics of that room. I know that the hotel can be fined for renting such a room.

The place does not offer anything, but hey, what could I expect, the money that I spent to stay on that place, explains why it was the cheapest place we could find. I did like the location, it was in a very good point in my opinion, so I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

In fact, this is the worst hotel I experienced in the USA. (1) without airconditon during hot summer in new york (2) no private bath room at all. all of people share one very bad bathroom (3) the room is very very small (4) no TV and other staff (5) In fact, the hotel only provide one very bad bed for you without others (6) the smell is bad in the room

This was my fist trip to NYC and I love this city. So much so that I have plans to move there soon. Very safe city, great job opportunities and an awesome nightlife. However my experience with West End Studios was not good. Let me start off saying that I am not one of those people who thinks that the more expensive something is the better. I am roughed, low maintenance and just an all around go with the flow type of guy. This hotel sucks. To start off the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. I would have slept on the floor but I was afraid I would have choked on all the bugs on the floor. The a.c. box leaked water. So Im sure that the carpet had mildew. The pillows were so old that it felt like the tried to restuff them with cotton ball. Which brings me to the staff. When I asked for an extra pillow, they actually gave me lip. I had to trade pillows because they were so hard up. No extra sheets were available. Rooms had no phones. The elevator was broken. I thought that the hotel was not important. That who would go to NYC to be in a hotel. But after sight seeing from 5am-1am you do not want to run up those flights of stairs. Bathrooms were dirty, full of hairs and at one point they didn't even had toilet paper. Their is no room service. No maid service. No extra towels. No alarm clocks. Its just not worth it. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. Just keep in mind that this review came from a man, I laugh to think at the experience that a woman would have at West End Studios.

I have to say, for Ny I was very impressed. Even though you have to share the bathroom they were kept very clean and I never had to wait at all. You also have a sink and fridge in your room. I also found it very quiet, a huge bonus for NYC. I've stayed at 5 star hotels in NY and not gotten a wink of sleep due to traffic noise, so this was wonderful. I'm not a big TV person, but if you are you might be disappointed with the picture quality. Other then that it was really better then I had expected!

The West End Studio's and Apartments had a great location, easily accessible. The rooms were basic but fairly clean and with TV. The bathrooms were reasonably clean but shared on each floor. Easy walking distance to shops, cafes and parks. This is ideal for anyone who doesnt plan to spend much time in the hotel and wants a bargain hotel deal.

My stay at the West End studios and Hostel was favorable. The room was spare as were the (common) rest room/shower facilities. The staff was very accomodating. The Upper West side neighborhood was very nice. The train station is only 2 blocks away. There were many ethnic restaurants within walking distance. And taxis proved easy to find. The only negatives were that they did not have cable TV and that there were bedbugs. Good value for the price. I would book there again.
