Great Hotel! Very clean, the rooms are small but nice and comfortable. The location is perfect, you are in walking distance of Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Museum of Modern Art, Fifth Avenue etc. Subway stations from which you can go to all important places can be reached within a 5 minutes walk (max). Service was very good, no complaints whatsoever.

My husband and I stayed in the Wellington with his brother and wife for 4 nights in 2 rooms. I was a little worried because of the reviews but there was no need to be. Although the room was small, it was very clean and very comfortable with big TV and iron and ironing board. The staff were very helpful, the air con broke in my brother in laws room, they reported it on our way out for dinner and by the time we came back there was a whole new air con unit in their room. The location couldn't be better, it's next door to Carnegie hall, 5 mins in one direction to Times Sq and 5 mins the other way to central park, subway literally 7 steps from hotel door!!! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Wanted to be in the heart of NYC and the Wellington is walking distance from lots of major destinations...central park, rockefeller plaza, broadway, museums, time square, 5th avenue, etc. Great staff and comfortable rooms too!

The Wellington is in a great location and that's about it!! The rooms are very small and very old. There's no air conditioning, we stayed in late May, so the begining of Summer and it was very hot and stuffy, so I can't imagine how bad it would be in the middle of Summer. The only good thing was the location.

The front desk was very friendly, as were the doormen and bellhops. Maid service was good. We did not order room service. The elevators could be slow to get on if you were trying to leave one of the middle floors in the morning or evening as they would already be full when they stopped at the floor. My son made the hike up and down 10 flights of steps several times in order to not have to wait on the elevator. One day they were working on them and that made them even slower. The room was comfortable and was a appropriate size for two people. There was a nice desk to use and a comfortable chair to sit in. The window opened, which was nice as we were able to leave it open at night for fresh air. The gift shop in the hotel was convenient for small purchases and the prices were reasonable. I did have a hard time printing my boarding passes when we were leaving and I thought it was odd to have to pay for internet access at the computers in the lobby. Five minutes for $1.00 is expensive and when you have to navigate several sites it adds up fast. The girl at the front desk was very helpful though and was able to print one up for me.

Worst experience ever. Couldn't believe how much I paid (over *) to stay in such a cramped, smelly, outdated facility. Great location, but I could only stomach the hotel for one night!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wellington Hotel. My husband and I were there for two nights. The room was very clean and quiet. We went to two Broadway shows and the hotel was just a few minutes walk to both. Great location!

This property is definitely aging and requires renovation. The rooms are somewhat delapidated and the lift very slow to respond.

When I arrived, my room had a few problems--no hot water, a dirty shower floor, and a hole in the door. I went down to the front desk and nicely explained. The clerk immediately said she was sorry and upgraded me to a larger room in the older but nicer section of the building at no cost. My remaining days at the hotel were excellent.

This property was easy walking distance to Central Park, Times Square, the Late Show, and so many other area attractions. It's location was ideal because we didn't have to be in the craziness of Times Square, but could get there easily enough. The rooms are small-ish, but that's apparently common in Manhattan. The Wellington has been around for a while. The room was clean and adequate, but had seen its share of visitors over the years. Elevators are small, but we never waited too long for one. Good value for the price and excellent value for the location.

Our staying was very pleasant. The rooms were Ok, clean. Our room had windows so we could enjoy some view of part of the city. After checking out, we were able to leave our luggage free of charge while we were touring a little bit more before our departure.(we liked that). There are places right there next to the hotel where you can eat, or bring to eat in your room. Taxis, Subway, and buses practically right there. Very convenient location. We occupied a room with two double beds.

The Wellington Hotel is an older hotel, one can tell, but it was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Everyone there, from the front desk people to the bellhops were all very nice and extremely helpful if we had any questions or needed help with anything. It was extremely clean and was kept extremely clean the whole time we were there. It was within walking distance to almost everywhere we wanted to go or at least to subways and tour bus stops to get to wherever we wanted to go. It helped make our first trip to New York even more special than it already was. It was awesome!!!!!

We booked a kitchenette so we could prepare some meals in-room, but aside from four small glasses, there were no pots, pans, dishes, utensils for that purpose. We chose this hotel because my search for a handicapped friendly property showed this one to be accessible, but that was not the case. My husband uses a cane; but I am left wondering how a wheelchair-bound individual can even get in the building. There are no ramps at either entrance. Hallways are very narrow, and our bathroom was ridiculous. No handholds; I had to physically lift my 180 pound spouse off the toilet after each use. The bathtub-shower was dangerous even for someone in shape - slippery, did not drain well, no way I could get my husband into the tub. I sat him on the side of the bed and ferried washcloths back and forth until he "got that clean fresh feeling." This is the room that was given to us after we discovered the first room assigned was down a short flight of five steps from the lobby level. I love old hotels; they are romantic and elegant and show off any city to best advantage; however, the owner is best served by scraping and saving and doing a first-class renovation and showing realistic photos to potential visitors. The rest of our NYC experience was amazing. We saw an incredible dance performance at Lincoln Center, dined at Cognac and Serafina and the Carnegie Deli; shopped at the Apple store. Even bought a purse on the street. I have been to New York on both personal and professional business; while the hotel stay was disappointing, the staff was kind, helpful and tried their very best to assist us when we had questions. And oh, yeah, a couple of scenes from Borat were filmed there.
