Superb location - dreadful hotel. Dirty, soundproofing non-existent, staff (when you could find anyone) unhelpful, food poorly presented and served.

Great view and reasonable facilitesThe reception was a little off putting as is the building itself but the room and en-suite was well presentedWorth it for the view and good access to town

The Water Edge Hotel is ideally situated for those who want to party or just chill out. Being a 15min walk to the center of Torquay or a 2min bus ride the public transport system is very good and useful if you want to leave your car behind. The hotels Facillities are ideal for a short break I reccomend the breakfast. The hotel was going through some decorating at the time but didnt stop us from having a nice stay deffinately come back.

The service was very good I must say the manager did not get much sleep he always seem to be behind the reception serving drinks or food for breakfast.

I felt that the hotel was suffucient for the £40 per night that we paid through late rooms, I would have been not been happy if I had paid the standard tariff charged by the hotel. The staff were friendly enough. The breakfast was not particulary good, but again paying the price we did I - feel it would be unacceptable to complain.

Really relaxed, friendly service. Excellent value for money.

Spectacular views of the bay. Bed was comfortable though the room was on the small side. Digital tv very welcome. Staff were friendly. Car park is long and narrow and one car was double parked. General decor slightly "run down" feel.

Mum and I found the Hotel, very freindly, and all the staff were very helpfull. I understood the hotel was under refurbishment, so \i appreciated that some of the decor wasn,t to good. The views were beutifull, and it was central to all the outdoor amenities. The only wory I had when there was that there was not a window to get through in case of fire, and I thought that was compulsory, but maybe I,m wrong. other than that it was a lovely three days.

When we were going up the stairs to our room, I had a bad feeling. The stairs and surrounds were really dirty, and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in days. When we got to our room we found the rubbish bin was still full, empty drinks bottle on the bedside table, the dirty towels from the previous client were on the floor in the bathroom, with no clean ones for us, no pillowcases on the pillows for our bed, big cobwebs in the corner of the room, and the feeling that it hadn't been dusted or hoovered. It was a really tired looking hotel that could have done with a complete refurb. It is a shame because the hotel is in a great location, with views overlooking Torbay.

Reception staff were extremely helpful, even when i left my keys in my room they were more than happy to let me back in there to retrieve them. I would definately stay here again, was disappointed not to be able to have breakfast as it looked lovely.

Very friendly and welcoming. Families accommodated. We had a clean good sized room. Nice restaurant with bar & lounge area and fantastic sea views.

Would be nice to have longer time for breakfast an hour between 8-9 is a bit limited don't always want to get up so early on holiday. Bit disappointed with view from room as well, when booking advisable to state you would like a sea view. One of the reasons booked hotel was it said 'most rooms have sea view', we had view of sheds and railway line ran along the back. We didn't hear that many trains go past but we were out quite a lot. Rooms not very sound proof either lots of creaky floor boards and slamming doors.

The room provided looked absolutely nothing like the pictures, and was located straight over the kitchen fans. This meant that we sucked in the smell of grease and fat for much of the time spent in the room (minimal afternoon nap and late night). They also promise sea views for most rooms.....we definitely did not fit into the 'most' categoryCheck out time was too early (10am) and breakfast too constrictive 8am to 9am onlyOh well, many for B&Bs in the sea as they say

Room was a little dated but the bathroom was very modern and clean. Hotel facilities were good, food was nice. The staff were very firendly, esepcially Jackie on reception. Safe parking spaces, the outdoor pool was clean, warm and lovely. Lovely sea views, we had an excellent stay.

We felt that the website pictures differed dramatically from the actual hotel and rooms themselves. Whilst our rooms were on the top floor the noise level from the rooms below (as the walls were so thin) made sleeping troublesome on the Saturday night. The rooms were quite tired looking (but the beds comfortable) and the power of water in the shower was less than the rain outside. The beds, linen, carpets and bathrooms were clean but the rooms were dusty. The frindly receptionist informed us that our room was the best they had (with the holes in the floor in bathroom and bedroom!!!) Perhaps she was being ironic? All in all, it felt rather Faulty Towers, without Manuel..........

Excellent Hotel on sea front. Easy to find. Town centre 5 minute walk away. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anybody.
