We just came back from a week in the Vuni Palace. It was very enjoyable and a most welcome last minute booking. The hotel is nice but I would say it's 3 and a half to 4 stars, not five. The pool is good and sun beds etc are nice and weren't crowded. The food is good, service (especially in the pool bar) is slow. Entertainment is mediocre. There are some unpleasant smells that blow across the pool. WARNING: I suggest you don't rent a car from Oscar car rentals (the hotel's recommended). They (ours and another couple's) were the worst we saw in the area. I returned ours in disgust after struggling up a nearby hill at 20k/hr. Use one of the many car rentals in town, but check the actual car you get first.

Would only accept cash payment,shower flooded room when used, room safe did not work, only soft drinks in room bar, no tea/coffee facilities, no ice/lemon in hotel cocktail bar, they served us a gin with a flat tonic & a warm beer, by 0900 most breakfast items were finished & not restocked, we could not face a return visit to the restaurant..and finally the location was in an extremely run down area and too far out of town with poor street lighting...can u plse advise where 5 star rating comes from.
