My daughter and I went for a girls vacation. The room was what we expected, nothing special, but we were there for the beach not the room. The staff could not have been friendlier. The weather was beautiful the whole time we were there. The only low point was the food, but even then, there was always pasta and fresh salad and fruit to enjoy.

Went on vacation with my two daughters (20 and 22). Relaxing on the beach. All inclusive did not include many of the things we would have wanted to do, i.e. jet skiing, water skiing... expensive extras. Most of the time you are on the beach or by the pool... Great scenery

We stayed there for 6 days. Rooms were nice and kept clean by the maid. Their Italian & Oriental restaurants you needed to make reservations for were very poor. We ate in each one and didn't feel there was enough food served and was very poor quality. Buffets were better but below average. Would have liked to see the tables kept cleaned and reset. Pool is not heated so was cold. Not enough on the island to do. We did a kayak, hiking trip with Nature Eco tours one day for $* per person. It wasn't really worth it. The guide had picked up another party at our hotel joining our group and they spoke only French so most of our tour was in French. Port Lucaya Marketplace straw market was fun but rest of shopping poor. We were glad to get away but won't return to the Bahamas again.

Absolutely beautiful beach although somewhat rocky (take aqua shoes). Never had a problem getting chairs with an unbrella. Room was very basic but clean. Refrigerator is provided but is not stocked with drinks. Be sure to take an insulated mug for the bar (really small glasses) as well as taking drinks and ice back to the room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Unless you are in the market for timeshare ownership, skip the sales presentation. The Italian and Oriental restaurants were great, the burger shack on the beach served a great burger, but the buffet left a lot to be desired. Breafast was by far the best meal. Fruits and fresh vegetables were plentiful for lunch and dinner but the hot items were somewhat tasteless. This resort is very secluded so if you want to do any sightseeing, shopping, gambling, or just looking around you'll have to take a taxi into town. Be sure to take plenty of sunscreen with you. What I purchased in the states for less than 7.00 was 21.75 in the drug store at the resort. With the great beach, this place definitely has the potential of being a wonderful vacation spot. Updates are needed desperately, not only to the buildings but also to the grounds. It was ok for us, but I couldn't in good conscience recommend it to any of our friends.

This resort was not comfortable, the food was not very good and was the same every day. The staff were mostly unhelpful, some were very rude. The entertainment is very amateur and poorly put together (although younger children would probably enjoy it, it seemed like summer camp to me). The fitness center was small, without AC, and with broken, rusting, and malfunctioning machines. The rooms were not very clean, the linens (sheets/towels) were mostly old and threadbare and things like toilet paper, soap, clean towels, etc...were not restocked often, even when requested. The beach-front property is beautiful, the grounds are mostly well-kept and the pool is nice. The all-inclusive cocktails were good and there are some activities that children will enjoy. If you are looking for scenery and things to keep the kids busy this is an ok option, but the service, food, rooms, and entertainment are very low quality. I will say that some of the rooms are nicer than others, we were in one of the very old ones but saw a family member's room that was nicer (however their AC was broken all week).

The hotel was great overall and the beach was AMAZING! There was great snorkling and activities and the staff was fun and energetic. The only downside was that the main eating area did not have air conditioning and only about half of the fans worked, so it was very hot in there and took away from the eating experience even though the food was great. The 2 restaurants that needed reservations to get into filled up very quickly and we were only able to get into 1 of them. Ask the bartenders to make you a Caparino drink - they are fabulous :)

This was certainly not a luxury hotel, but moderate and clean. The beach was absolutly beautiful. You can walk a few miles each way along the beach. The food was okay, nothing spectular, but very plentiful. The staff is very friendly and the service was good. There was also so many things to do around the resort. We paid extra to do offshore snorkelimg, which was awesome and I would highly reccommend. The sales people do trap you as soon as you check in, I was there with my boyfriend and when they asked if we were married and the answer was no they left us alone for the rest of the trip. If you are on the prissy side or like to vacation in a tourist area with lots of shopping and/or nightlife then I would say this may not be the right hotel. But if you don't need to say in a five star hotel and can sit back and relax on one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen, then you would enjoy it here. If I went back to Freeport I wouId stay here without a doubt. We are actually trying to plan a trip next year at the Viva Wydham in Domician Republic.

This is my second trip here within 2 months and I stay at the Viva Wyndham because of their Dive shop. They are the best. I have received my Rescue, Master Scuba Diving and this trip my DiveMaster's certification. The dive shop is the best and followed through all of the requirements for me to complete my certifications during the time I had allotted. I couldn't have done it without Joe and Patrizia who run the dive shop and Joe is the only Certified Course Instructor in the Bahamas. The resort is great for a dive trip. Multiple wreaks and of course Shark Alley is an all time favorite. The food is OK but go to the lobby and sign up for the Asian and Italian Specialty restaurants if you want better food. The B wing at the resort has been updated and is on the beach. For the money you can't beat it. Try doing the Trapeze too, it's not that hard. The diving is very reasonable and the rental equipment is inexpensive and in very good shape. If there is a problem with any of the equipment they immediately repair it. They have 2 dives in the morning 8:30 - 11:30 and one dive in the afternoon at 1:30. They have 3 instructors on staff and if you're looking to advance in your certifications or to become certified this is the place to do it. I will be returning in the fall for my Assistant, Instructor, and my Master Instructors certification. The dive boat can accommodate around 20 people comfortably. The dive sites are all within 20 minutes of the hotel with most being within 15 minutes. As a said before Shark Alley is a must dive.

This is actaully the second time my family has used this hotel. My daughter and her husband used this hotel in 2006 and then they sent us here for our 31st anniversary. This hotel is everything they said it would be. Friendly staff, great entertainment, soothing atmosphere. I would reccommend this to anyone. We will return on day.

Except for the fact when I was contacting the hotel the night before to let them know we would be delayed due to a cancelled flight from Miami, the hotel was telling me they had no reservation for a package deal that had been made in March and they had it in April when I had a question about something and called the hotel. Once we got there we did have a great time. Nice relaxing, alot of snorkling,kayaking and sailing done. The staff was very nice and alot of fun. The beach is beautiful.

If you are seeking a value all inclusive, this is the perfect place. Unfortunately we stayed at a much better one in Jamaica and it spoiled us when we arrived here. The hotel needs a few upgrades and perhaps some more activities for those who enjoy spending the day there. However, the island is beautiful and safe enough where you can go for a walk, jog, bike or car ride. The hotel offers their own shuttle on their website and it is much more affordable than the one on this site. The food was great however, you must call in advance to make reservations for the Asian or Italian restaurant in order to get a table. The beach was nice even though the weather was not great for us in January. Make sure you bring appropriate clothing because the resort is not well prepared for cold weather. The service and the staff were great. A good mix of couples and families. A great time for someone seeking a quiet vacation with options of water sports, casino gambling, and some good shopping values. Perfect for a first time Carribean experience or All Inclusive experience.

Kids of all ages willl enjoy this resort. My husband and I went to Freeport on our honeymoon. Upon arrival, the hotel seemed deserted. Hotel check in is at 3pm so our flight was scheduled to arrive around that time. Hindisght- you can fly in early and hang out at the beach until check in time. Our room was horrible but we reported it and the staff came and sprayed very quickly. This resort is nothing fancy. It's a nice place to relax but it can be frustrating if you don't know how to sign up for activities or want to visit one of the "private" restaurants on the very first day of arrival. If you plan on going, grab the brochures upon check in and sign up for everything (which isn't much but it's ok) immediately. Most of the activities require 1 day notice. I must admit- the birds in the main restaurant bothered me to no end BUT the trick is to eat closer to the buffet and try to stick with eating things that are either on the steam bar or in boxes (cereal mainly). We are planning another trip back but our next trip will be a family vacation. The shows are great, the drinks are watered down, the food isn't the best but it's a great getaway. First timers- it wasn't what we expected (parties all night, lots of activities) but now that we know, we'll go back anyway.

This is a fantastic place to set up headquarters for a dive trip to Grand Bahama. The hotel and dive staffs are exceedingly friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food is good and plentiful. I have already recommended this hotel to my friends and colleagues.

After reading all of the reviews before we left, I was very nervous about coming here. However, once we got to the hotel, I was completly at ease! The staff was nice and helpful; we stayed in the A building, the rooms were nice and much better than I thought it would be! and best of all, it was only 1 minute away from the beach!; we ate at the italian resturant the first night, it was good but didn't have many options, the all you can eat place was great! if you want the warmest food and most choices try and get there about 30-45 minutes after they open up for the meal time. Beach was amazing, and I can't wait to go back again! Oh, and the time share people only asked us once if we wanted to hear about them, we said no and they told us to enjoy our stay!

We had an awesome time! The staff was great especially the animation staff! They were so friendly and included us in everything (granted thats what they are supposed to do) but they even hung out with us when they weren't working! So much fun. A couple of things to complain about though.....check in was a nightmare. We arrived at hotel at 12 pm and checkin wasnt until 3 so we hung out on the beach and came back at 3 and our room still wasnt ready!! We had to wait a few more hours and when we got to our room.....It had not been cleaned still from the prior inhabitants!! We always needed towels and were very upset because of that!

It's an older, more cottage like hotel. The staff is very friendly and the beach was great. Not close enough to the straw markets. The food could be better. Take your own glass....the glasses are all small in the bar areas. The beds were comfy and the rooms weren't bad. Beware of the timeshare people. They approach you as soon as you check in.

Rooms and hotel needed updated. Had to keep calling for towls, coffee, and refills on soap. never received our complimentary fruit and wine. Drinking cups for meals were very small and inconvient. Would not go back.

Great place for families, there is something for everyone. They have done some upgrades since our 2007 stay. The animation crew are all very fun and friendly. Our son loved the staff at the Kids club, the pool table, and most of all the staff taught our son at the flying trapeze. He got to do grabs from his bar to another and got swong really high. We enjoyed the nightly shows they were entertaining (this is not Broadway, don't expect it). We missed that they are not doing the nightly bingo before the shows anymore. I think that use to draw more people to watch the nightly shows. We all had a blast! I really found this to be a value for an all inclusive vacation. Don't expect 4-5 star accomodations and you won't be disappointed. The Asian dining has 4-5 appetizers/dinners, and 3 deserts to choose from and they were out of several of the choices. For only having ten menu items, it is pretty bad to be out of them. We almost had to beg for something other than water to drink. We did not even wait for desert. Maybe the waitress was just having a really bad night. They have a very beautiful beach, watch out for the few but toe stubbing rocks. We love staying at VIVA and will be back again some day! Rent a car and drive on the wrong side of the road for a week (they drive on the left side). That was a blast! Also go to Gold Rock Beach and Ben's caves about 20 miles east it was very nice.
