The Resort Location was amazing! Stretched over a long winding beach with countless palm trees and walking trails. The Gardens are always in shape and super green. We were upgraded to "Palace" but we still used the "dominicus beach" activites and they were great. The buffet is very good with fresh fruit, different fish, and dominican cusine. Not filled with french fries and cheap food. Non-alchol beverages were GREAT while bar drinks were about average. The hotel was clean, nicely equipped,and numerous of free activites. Beware of the VIVA wyndham staff who try to sell you the VIP booking for next trips, we only spent 10 mins and walked out from the salesman geared enviroment. OVERALL WE WILL BE COMING BACK.

The entertainment staff is excellent, will return because of them. My camera bag was stolen at the pool, no help in relocating it. The grounds of this hotel are beautiful. The rooms are average, nothing spectacular for a garden view bungalow. The entertainment staff is hardworking and a joy to be with. They definitely made our stay excellent and because of them, we have already booked our next stay in 3 months. This is a great melting pot with a lot of different visitors from around the world and for such an extensive crowd, the food seemed to cater to just about everyone. The desserts and buffets were good and we didn't get sick off the food. I would give anything to be able to go back there today and I think ultimately that's what every all inclusive resort should strive for seeing as how there are so many to chose from. I can understand why they have so many repeats as I just became another one on their list.

The resort is beautiful. The staff as are most Dominicans are very friendly. And it helps to get better service with a couple of well placed dollars here and there. The big problem with the resort is the difference from one resort to the other. The beach side rooms are great. Great views, great location, great Eoropean feel to them. The trouble is with the Europeans. There was 90% Italians there who do not know how to be couteous or even the remote bit friendly. They push their way to the front of the line and mumble something that usually contains the word'Americano" in it that is followed by laughter. On the Palace side, which we had full access to. And no one ever asked for a Wyndhan by rewards card. Had a greater mix of Americans, Italians,Germans and Puerto Ricans. You can even get champagne at the lobby bar. The rooms are set back and are a little more costly. So stay on the beach side but hang out at the Palace side. The food in the resevation only restaurants is much better than the Buffet. But you need to get in line at 7:30 a.m. to make reservations for the following night.

The stay was pleasant overall, a beautiful resort, great service, beach and sea very beautiful. The reef is unfortunately very poor, few fish and no live coral that have disappointed our expectations. In fact, it was not possible to do a good snorkeling.

The previous reviews had me really worried after I booked the trip. But the hotel nice enough for the price and the hotel staff was excellent. Check-in was a little slow but not hours long.The housekeeping staff work very hard to keep the rooms and hotel clean and even though we spoke very little spainish and they spoke very little english we were able to communicate fine.The food was okay but does need to be switched up a bit I didnt like that you were not allowed to eat at all the restaurants for breakfast or lunch and had to pay for dinner at some unless you stayed at the palace. the staff at the restaurants were friendly and pretty good with service. we also ate at the Mexican and la rocca restaurants which were very good and the service was good.The beach was alittle rocky but beautiful and the workers go around constantly to keep the beach clean. Our pool was small and we actually never used it but yu didn't have t when you have the ocean.The shows were pretty good and the entertainers are friendly with everyone.The people that we found the rudest were other guests from other countries they really don't like americans very much! The bar was really nice and the men and women that work there workextremely hard to keep everyone happy. especially the bartenders that work at night when it's really busy and they take time to talk to everyone especially Marcos who is just excellent and is so personable he's the one that says "hey amigos to everyone. They are not at all chinzy with the drinks although the cups are small.The area outside the resort is a little bit scary but just don't go out by yourself! The shopping is not to good with not alot to buy and watch the stores outside of the hotel because they try to double charge you for things.The disco is small but my daughters (in their 20's)had alot of fun.Overall we enjoyed the trip very much and would return again there was really nothing that negative we found about the hotel or staff that would keep us away.

Attend a destination wedding with family and friends. Check in was fine. I was very excited due to the pictures and information that I saw on the Wyndam website. Upon arrival and getting to my room I was disappointed at the size of the room. The room was very small with little walking space and room to move around. The bathroom needed to be throughly cleaned. There was a lot of soap scum and mildew in the shower. The water in the shower took about 15 to 30 minutes to drain out after a shower. the towels were not refreshed everyday. Our bedsheets were never changed the bed was only made everyday. The maids would enter the room without knocking and they took it upon themselves to take drinks out of the refridgerator in the room. We found our personal things to be tampered with when we returned to the room. The staff barely speaks english, so commincation at times was challenging. The food is left to be desired. If you did not make reservations for the restaurtants, which had to be made a day in advance, in person, at guest services between the hours o 9 and 11am, your dinner would not be that enjoyable. Service from the waiters and the waitresses is not good. They speak very little english and could not understand what we wanted. The tables were often set half way. I had a love affair with the bathroom after each meal. Entertainment is pretty good, but the shows at the theatre is not always child friendly. Towels for the beach could only be returned after 3 pm so anything before that, you had to walk around with the wet beach towel until 3 pm. I wasn't totally pleased. There's room for lots of improvement.

It's an all inclusive hotel, yet you need to make reservations to eat a the restaurants and the reservation is not for the next day it's for 2 days ahead. I did not like that we had to eat at the same location because you can't use the other restaurants unless you reserve!!!

Rooms that were booked were not available upon check-in. Caused us to move next day. Mgr compensated by upgrading meals and wine at dinner first evening. Rooms very small, towels, facecloths, hard to come by. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. not refilled. There were no coffeepots in rooms. Did not always have hot water for showers. Would have like to see some brochures on hotel activities as well as excursions in the area in he room. Food was good. Restaurant staff efficient & friendly; La Terraza staff unattentive to guests. Often had to ask for silverware, wine & coffee. Meal reservation policy not spelled out anywhere. Not much English spoken by front desk or service staff. Had to call manager to have issues resolved. In my opinion, Resort not up to the sandards of a Wyndham. The beach and pools were lovely and well kept. We had a nice time but it's not likely we would go again.

The Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach is a very nice and beautiful resort.The staff,from check-in to check-out, were very courteous and helpful.The activities staff were very good and kept something going on all day.The food was pretty good,i only ate the buffets and didn't eat at any of the ala carte restaurants,but they looked like they would have been very good.My room was really spacious although it was sparesly furnished.The refrigerator in my room didnt work,the bed was completely worn out and the elevator only worked part of the time i was there,but i didnt mind all that much since i spent most of my time on the beach.The beaches were very beautiful and relaxing.The cab ride was $100.00 each way and i had already paid for a round trip transfer.Coco tours was supposed to pick me up at the airport and provide return trip to the airport at the conclusion of my trip.Remember that name,i wouldnt book any transfers with Coco tours.Well all in all i really enjoyed my trip and would do it all again....

At first I was scary with the other reviews, but at the end I was very happy with the hotel, staff, the food needs improves. The beach was perfect, the hotel is very clean and easy to acess. We did not went out of the hotel any time, a lot activities for all family. We will be back.

At first I was disappointed as I had been assigned a below grade (partially underground) room, but I quickly grew to appreciate the additional coolness this provided when I wanted to do without a/c. There were, however windows on three sides, and a terrace with two chairs. Some furniture seemed to be missing, a table for the terrace (seen on other terraces), a luggage stand, and an additional comfy chair near the patio would have been nice to have. There was an iron, but not ironing board, but neither did I request one. Shampoo, soap, and towels were provided (as well as beach towels). The room was quite spacious, an clean, and there was a small round table with two straight chairs, a king sized bed, and a dresser/desk with a TV on it and a stool to sit on. The closet was large, with several shelves, but only 2 hangers, and a security safe. It would have been nice to have an in-room brochure or handbook listing all the activities available and how to make arrangements for them. The key to getting small repairs done was to (kindly) bring them to the attention of the room maid. Calling the main desk did not get much of a response. Curiously, there were not enough locks for the safes in all the rooms when I arrived, and I was promised one at the front desk on at least three occasions over the first two days. I even pointed out that I had 3 ground level windows that did not lock, which should have gotten their attention for several reasons. On my third trip back to the main desk, the staff member (3rd male) started to tell me there were no locks, until a woman staffer pointed out that there were some in a drawer. My observation was that ground staff and waitstaff worked diligently, though perhaps there were not quite as many waitstaff as some people might wish. The activities directors and customer service provided provided particularly gratifying attention. Everyone was friendly enough, but I should add that I speak Spanish quite comfortably and find making conversatio

This was not a RESTFUL resort. I do not recommend this very poorly managed resort to anyone who wants a restful vacation. They play extremely loud blaring disco music every night in the outdoor bar area until roughly 1:00 am which can be heard in most of the rooms whether you want to hear it or not. The music is loud beyond all reason and it is impossible to sleep. The staff gives you lip service about turning it down, but does absolutely nothing. Don't think you are going to sleep in the next morning, as the maids and workers arrive early and begin making lots of noise, talking loudly to each other, etc. Even during the day, loud music is blaring much of the time and some of it is very explicitly vulgar and obscene. Hopefully most of the guests and particularly their children, most of whom are Italian, can not understand the words. The air conditioning unit in my room went out on my next to the last day and I sweltered and sweated in miserable heat and humidity my last night there. I called 4 times to report it and was told each time that someone would be there in within 10 minutes to repair it, but no one ever showed up, nor did I expect them to. The staff gives lip service to any problems or complaints, but does absolutely nothing about them! There was generally a good variety of food available in the restaurants, but the quality is disappointing. The meat, particularly any form of beef, is virtually inedible. I would not stay at this Viva Wyndham resort again if it were free.

My partner and I have stayed in many hotels in the country and this one by far was a disappointment. We heard many great things about the beaches and the hotels Dominicus but this beach was not good. There was no beach. It was filled with rocks and algae. The room felt empty. I think there was 5 pieces of furniture, including the 2 beds. The balcony door did not have a lock on it, the air conditioner did not work and we called the front desk twice and were told that someone from maintenance would come and check it, no one came. The room smelled like urine and was uncomfortable. The buffet was not all that impressive either and the staff there did not pay too much attention to the guests. Overall it was not worth the money, there are many other hotels at the same price or cheaper with better amenities.
