This was our second stay at Vista del Mar. We love this nice, Mexican style hotel. Location cant get any better - only steps away from shopping and dining. We had an ocean view room (paid a little extra) with a balcony and loved eating our free breakfast and drinking coffee while overlooking the ocean. The biggest pros about this place are that is it clean, in town, small, no kids, and provides very personal service. The only cons are that it has no elevator and the town is very loud. We dont really mind the lack of elevator since the place only has 3 floors but it could be a problem for some. This is not an AI with all the amenities; rather its a very homey, quaint little place. We love staying here. We also love that its an adult clientele. No partiers, no loud music, and no screaming kids. Yes!

This small two-star downtown hotel is nice enough, but it is not for those who go to Cozumel to sit by the pool and take in the sun (which is why we went). There is no real swimming pool, but only a 12-person above-ground spa on a second-floor terrace that gets no sun because of the building around it. There really is nothing to do at the hotel or in the area. If you just want a place to sleep and have lots to do elsewhere (diving, for example), then it would be fine. But it wasn't for us ... so after two nights at the Vista Del Mar, we flushed the remaining four nights of pre-paid lodging and moved to another hotel. At least spending our first full day on Cozumel shopping for another hotel gave us something to do!

I really wasn't expecting much for the price but was pleasantly surprised. The standard room was perfect -- it was almost like having to separate bedrooms...not to mention the balcony overlooking all the shopping. Probably the biggest factor for me was safety in a foreign country--they had a security desk right outside our room. Oh, and they provide a continental breakfast that they bring right to your room. I loved this hotel.

The hotel is small and the lobby furniture could use some repair. There are lots of stairs and that could limit the accessibility for some. The rooms in the back of the hotel are much quieter but the rooms in the front have a great view. If you go for the view, ask for the fourth floor, away from the street noise a little. The staff have great recommendations for places to eat so make sure you ask. Not a luxury hotel but overall a very clean and convenient place to stay. We enjoyed our stay.

Very clean and the hosts were charming, gracious, and very helpful. Great location if you want to stroll the Boulevard for souvenirs. The ocean view room did get a little street noise but nothing a pair of foam earplugs couldn't block out. It's worth it for the view of the sunset on the bay in the evening on the balcony. Our room had two queen beds which was great for a family of four. I consider this hotel an excellent value and my stay (4 nights) was very pleasant.

My husband, daughter and I spent the week in Playa del Carmen and needed a hotel for one night in Cozumel, as we were flying from there on Sunday. We were very pleased with the location and quality of this hotel. It was a short walk from the ferry from Playa del Carmen to the hotel. We did not have an ocean-facing room, which made it much quieter, as the hotel is on the main drag and the cruise ships dock right across the street, so there is a lot of foot traffic. The AC worked great and the room was very clean. We were able to leave our bags in the office while they prepared our room and we headed to the beach for the day. The roof-top pool/jacuzzi is very refreshing....you do need to take the towels from the room though. They brought continental breakfast to our room at the time we chose. The taxis are very easy to get from the front of the hotel. We would definitelyi stay here again!

The Vista Del Mar is a boutique hotel right in the middle of downtown and about 3 blocks from the main square. Very close to shopping and dining. There were always taxis out front and the hotel is about two blocks from a new shopping mall which is connected to where the cruise ships dock when they arrive. The hotel is also close to beaches, maybe a 10/15 minute cab ride, and there was also a large supermarket within walking distance The rooms were decent sized and clean and had cute decor. Since it is a boutique hotel don't expect room service or an iron, blow dryer etc. but for the price it's great. They also provide bottles of bottled water. The pool is a little small and the jacuzzi was more of just a pool with jets (we didn't get to try it). The breakfast consisted of sweet rolls, coffe and juice. The front desk was very helpful with car rental and snorkel gear rental. Our room was the ocean view with balcony but we never had a problem with noise. There's also a mosquito net provided but I imagine that comes more in use during the summer months. If you're looking for a clean, safe, reasonalbly priced hotel in the middle of everything I recommend the Vista Del Mar!

My fiance Sue and I stayed at the Vista Del Mar hotel 11-15-08 to 11-22-08. The staff and security are the best part of your experience here. We stayed here because it was located in the center of the business area which saved us alot in cab fares **The staff at the hotel told us the real fares to pay for cabs which saved us tons of money. (Cabs charge whatever they feel you can afford if you don't know better).** We stayed in an inside room that faced the sales area courtyard. It was much quieter than the ocean facing view, but be ready for people barking you down like carneys at fairtime when you leave or return to the hotel. The noise level is off the hook until 5PM everyday. Lots of great places to eat if you go back into the town a few blocks. The hotel staff was great in helping us there too. The rooms were always spotless when we returned and we felt very safe there thanks to Felipe the security guard/valet. The only downside was that toilet paper could'nt be flushed and had to put in your bathroom wastepaper basket and the rooms have very little clothes storage space (only a large armoire/closet). Finally, you can't beat the value, comfort, and location of this hotel. It's a no frills hostel but it delivers convienience and hospitality in a big way. We are divers who don't need much more than this on our trips. We would probably stay her again if we needed to save money. Thanks to the entire crew at the Hotel Vista Del Mar for a very enjoyable vacation.

The Vista del Mar is a great value for those who want a nice clean room with an ocean view at a budget price. We were in Cozumel mainly to scuba dive and this hotel suited us perfectly. It was close to our dive operation and was within easy walking distance of many good restaurants. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to take care of any requests we had. A continental breakfast was delivered daily to our room promptly at the requested time. Our room air conditioner started acting up on Easter Sunday but it was fixed within 2 hours. Hard to complain with that service on a holiday! We had only two negatives, (1) the mattresses are extra firm but this is true of everyplace I've stayed in Mexico and (2) they could use more storage space for clothes.

This hotel was perfect for what I was looking for. It was in a great location, with a wonderful view. It was small and had a great atmosphere. The room was beautiful and airy. The balcony was spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is a Boutique Hotel right on the main boulevard next to McDonalds- but rooms are quiet. They take Extra Care to do all the Nice Touches and Very Spotless/ Well Maintained. Continental Breakfast (comp) delivered by staff on nice carrier, bathrobes, big tv, minifrig, A/C, 2 small (but refreshing) pools - 1 is a lobbybar with palapa and stools in water- music, etc, Great view from roof balcony looking over the boulevard/waterfront/cruise ships. Walking distance to everything in San Miguel. Online travel had a special price - and for 70 (prox) it was a real find. I would easily stay there again - even for several nites. Really Nice

Check in was a breeze,front desk was great & let us check in early because our room was available. Great being right next to the dive shop. Breakfast delivered every morning before dives. Pool was small but very refreshing. Enjoyed the robes provided for our stay. Would def stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at Vista Del Mar Boutique Hotel in Cozumel the beginning of Feb and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! The hotel is located right on the main drive in the mix of everything. It is surrounded by shopping and resturants. The room was immense with a beautiful balcony overlooking the back market. It was extremely clean and the staff were fantastic. I have read reviews about the front balcony rooms overlooking the road are a bit noisy but do not know. Our room and balcony were extremely quiet. We awoke to the sound of church bells and roosters crowing in the distance. The pool is small and pretty cold but with the beach so close we didn't use it and didn't see anyone else using it. All in all we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay away from the giant all-inclusives! We are definitely going back with our young daughter. If you are high-maintenance and need your blowdryer and full breakfast then this won't suit you well but if you enjoy simple, clean and friendly then you will love this hotel too! Can't say enough good things about this place!!!

"we stayed here in january and found it to be a very charming little hotel. the staff was very helpful and nice. breakfast was delivered at your requested time in the morning which was nice. the rooms were very nicely decorated. the hotel is located near the downtown square. the oceanview room was nice, but a little noisey since it also overlooks the main road. the rooms in the back of the hotel seemed nice too. the back street quiets down about 6pm and the shops don't open until about 9am. we would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel!!!"
