I just returned home from a 7 day stay at the Virginian Suites. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! The front desk staff is beyond rude, unaccommodating, and are not helpful. Our stay, which included 4 people, started with a simple request for extra towels and hangers. The hangers we could have done without, but we needed the extra towels since they only provided 2 per day. It took several calls to the front desk and housekeeping and over 24 hours to receive the towels we needed. Each day thereafter we received them with no problem after we left a hand written note and a tip. We had requested a Peapod delivery during our stay and I was assured by the front desk that they would make sure the groceries were delivered to our room and that any refrigerated items would be put away for us. When we returned from sightseeing several hours later, all our lunch meat and cheese hadn't been put away. So, it all had to be thrown out. One morning, as we planned to go back to DC for more sightseeing, we waited for the free hotel shuttle to get to the metro station. We waited over 20 minutes, so I asked the front desk about the shuttle and was assured that the shuttle runs every 10 - 15 minutes all day long and should arrive shortly. So, our party of 4, including a young child waited another 20 minutes. We then went back to the front desk to be told that the shuttle had stopped running for the day. Another morning we called down to the front desk to request a taxi. After waiting in the lobby 30 minutes we found out that a cab was never called. Each and every interaction with the front desk staff resulted in a rude attitude. They do not want to be bothered with guests at all. They act inconvenienced everytime you bother them. Our first night there we asked the front desk if they could recommend a restaurant. We were very hungry after traveling several hours in the car that day. We walked about 3 blocks to the recommended restaurant to find out it had closed. We quickly realized that we could not rely on the staff for assistance. Even simple questions about the quickest route to a certain location, they had no idea how to answer the questions. Overall, the rooms are great in size and the location is very convenient. However, I would find another hotel nearby and pay double before I would stay at Virginian Suites again. It was a HUGE disappointment especially for our first family to trip to DC.

This hotel seemed somewhat neglected. We could not close the bathroom door, as it seem to have been put on backwards. The entire room appeared less than clean (including kitchenette) & I would not go back, nor would I recommend it. The staff at check-in were unpleasant.

I enjoyed the spacious rooms and the full kitchen. I would have liked a continental breakfast. This is a nice hotel in a good location. It is across the road from the Iwo Jima memorial and just down the street from Arlington Cemetery. It had several convienent amenities including a complementary shuttle, full kitchen and laundry room. We were very happy with our stay.

I just got back from staying at the Virginian Suites. I thought it was a good deal for the money we paid. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station. The walk might be difficult for elderly travellers. They do have limited shuttle service, but not on weekends. The shuttle goes to the metro station, (Rosslyn station) and will also take you to Safeway if you need to pick up groceries. You can also walk to Safeway, and CVS, also some restaurants close by. The staff was vey nice and helpful. It was nice having a full kitchen in the room with free coffee. I felt more like a studio apartment then hotel room, which I liked. I got the best deal for this hotel on their own website. Also if you are coming in from Dulles Airport the metro bus (5a) comes directly to the Rosslyn train station for only 3 dollars,(about a 45 ride) where the Virginian Shuttle can pick you up if it is during the time the shuttle runs. All in all it was a pleasant experiance, and would recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the accomodations. As a solo traveler I had much more space than needed for one. Only stayed one night but this property would work well for a family looking to fix some meals on site. Full kitchen - fair size dining space and living room. Cleanliness acceptable though carpet seemed in need of replacement. Lobby set up might be difficult for anyone with physical limitations. After entering from front entrance, I had to lift my luggage up over 5 - 6 stairs to reach the check in desk. A ramp is needed. The clerk did offer to call someone to carry my luggage - but I managed it alone. All in all good value for budget minded travelers and families. Limited shuttle service so I relied on taxi to metro station.

Very close to what we wanted to see! Most of the staff was very friendly except for one heavy lady. I would say this hotel was great except for this one person! Every other person was very polite and helpful!

Was traveling with a family of four. Room was worth the value, plenty of space to spread out. Having the kitchen saved us lots of money. The pool hours were terrible, didn't open until 10am and closed each day by 8pm. If you are traveling with kids take this into consideration. We usually didn't get back to the hotel until after 7pm and that left no time for the kids to just hang out by the pool to cool down and relax. Most hotels have their pool open until 10pm. Getting to the metro was very easy about 6 block walk. The hotel does have a shuttle to the metro, but doesn't run on the weekends. Disapointing. Iwo Jima only two blocks away!! Staff was friendly and helpful. Very accomodating. I would consider staying here again and highly encourage the Virginian Suites to change their pool hours.

Nice place for tourists. Very nice large, clean hotel room with full kitchen, 2 TV sets, bedroom. Exterior of building is plain but pleasant. Location was convenient for catching Rosslyn metro (a 7-minute walk). Only a few Metro stops away from tourist attractions and the hotel runs a shuttle to metro station during am and pm rush hours. Parking is a reasonable $7/day. Staff was pleasant. Quiet, pleasant neighborhood.

Loved the large suite, kitchen, and bath. Would be great for longer stay. Virginian Suites is perfect for the business traveler who needs space, internet access, kitchen facilities, and for anyone visiting the DC area who would like the same amenities at a reasonable price. Close to Metro and restaurants.

This hotel is dingy, off the beaten path, and generally poor value for money. The free breakfast wasn't even worth what it cost. You can do better in the DC area.

Loved the way the rooms were arranged. The small kitchen was very nice. The web page of the rooms looked better than actually was. We were very happy with the hotel and the service received. We even left a tip for the lady behind the desk. When we needed something they made sure we got it.

This was a great deal for the location. The staff was quite helpful and courteous with all of my questions. The location couldn't get much better. Right next to the Iwo Jima memorial and maybe a block from the national cemetery. I walked from the hotel, past the aforementioned sites, across the river, through the mall, and to Union Station. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Also there is a good restaurant/bar nearby called the Quarterdeck - decorated in early wharf-rat but the food was great.

I would recommend this place to everyone visiting the Washington DC area. Everything was just great, the rooms was clean and neat not smelly, the staff was great. I just can't say enough about it. You got to check it out for yourself

I liked the Kitchenette with full oven and refrigerator. No hotel shuttle service, Too much auto traffic on the walk to the Metro. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Did not like to have to pay 7.00 per day to park the car. Did not think the walk to the Metro at Rosslyn Center was safe, too much auto traffic and not enough clearly marked pedestrian crossings. No on site restaurant. Site is located conveniently to access the Metro and get to almost any place in the DC area. Close to Arlington Cemetery. Nice that tourist companies will pick up at the hotel.

Stayed here during my vacation to DC. This hotel is in a good locaiton near the Rosylin Metro Station, giving good access to the whole DC area, and it a decent price, but the rooms are in need of a remodeling, big time. The carpet is torn, paint scraped up, and the room as a strong musty smell. The bed was ok, but not super comfortable. The lobby is much nicer than the rooms themselves, so when you walk in you get the impression that is different than when you actually walk into the room. The rooms do have a small kitchen, which is nice, but would rather have a nice, clean room than have a kitchen. The staff also seemed grumpy most (but not all) times that I asked them something. The front desk had kind of a heads-down, no eye contact, slow moving vibe.Over all, it wasn't a horrible place, just not quite what I expected.

Can't beat the price. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The Virginian Suites was a 10 minute walk to the Metro station and they also provided a shuttle to and from at no cost. The suite was roomy but could of used some updating especially the carpet. I liked the fact that they provided 2 TVs. My wife and I don't like the same shows/channels. I would stay at the Virginian Suites again.

New room decor - spacious. Elevator was broken - had to walk down 10 flights with luggage. Convenient location, friendly employees, and clean rooms. The lobby is nice - the hallways are a little shabby. Good for the money.

I stayed at the Virginian Suites for 5 days, pleasant enough, has a full kitchen, gym and pool although access was slightly difficult to get. The hotel is located 5 mins from the Rosslyn station, not too bad when you get the shuttle to the station and back. No food in the hotel is a drag, but like i said, i had a kitchen so it is my own fault if i went hungry. Good value overall, I recommend it!

Convenient to the location I was going in Rosslyn, Va. Hard to find, on a hill, parking difficult. The hotel was OK, the bed was comfortable, room was clean. Small kitchen attached. Light switches in odd places, took awhile to locate them, especially in bathroom, switch in the electrical outlet. Biggest complaint, no breakfast. Told can only get breakfast if you purchased package, and that it could not be bought at the hotel. No warning of this on the description. I assumed I could at least get a continental breakfast since this is the norm at every other hotel I have stayed at.
